I passed my test on a ZZR 1100. Got the 14 about 2 years ago and when I finally let her loose I understood the hype. I can tell you I invented some new and interesting swear words that evening. Went round Ireland on it. Worth remapping too. Awesome bike.
Only someone, who has owned the Beast can under the ecitement and joy you feel with this legend. Rode and owned many bikes, this is my overall favourite.
Welcome to Zedland ! went from a 125cc to a Triumph 1200, had that a year and then got a ZZR 1400 Gen 1. Love the bike and power, could never get a smaller bike now...well done !
It's lovely to hear the excitement in your voice. I remember my first ride when I went 125 to 650 and I thought it would rip my arms off. Then the first time I opened the throttle on the 1290 it was the same. Sheer rush. Nothing beats being on 2 wheels 😊
Love hearing that excitement in your voice, that instant realisation that if you open the throttle like that 125, you'll soon be doing 3 figures. Nice feeling when you realise you're gonna enjoy that bike
Now I have been riding bikes for 50 years, and I've lived in Germany since 1976. Now here we have the unrestricted Autobahn so I have ridden and owned big bikes. But I prefer the 600cc bikes, because I avoid the autobahn like the plague, and I stick to mountain and country roads. And there the lighter 600's come into their own.
while doing my DAS i asked my instructors if they thought it would be a good idea to step up to an A2 first when i passed, and they basically surprised me by saying i should buy what i wanted, and that it's all about how you use the right hand. while i wouldn't dream of getting a fireblade or a busa, i did buy a bike with a fair bit of poke, but nothing as big as 1400, and my initial worry faded away in minutes when i found it was so easy to ride, if you don't get carried away that is. GL
Yeah that is absolutely right, I also have an old GSXR 600 which has a very snatchy throttle and is much more difficult to ride than the Z. What bike do you ride ?
@@YoureGettingaWhati bought a cb750 hornet, loving it so far, so nimble and easy, but a small worry was that a few reviewers alluded to a snatchy throttle on it too, and all i can say is that to a point yes, it can be when you first ride it, but it's no worse than a 125, or even the 650 bikes i did my DAS on, but if you treat it gently it's no problem at low speed in traffic, and you get used to anything soon enough anyway. GL
I also bought a zzr 1400, and when you ride it for the first time, the feeling is mixed between fear and joy. You don't know what it's capable of and whether you'll be able to master the monster. But after a few kilometers, the beast is actually quite easy to tame.
I spent years on several scooters before "graduating" to my first real bike, and I think scooters give valuable experience in a low-powered vehicle for those "whiskey throttle" situations but also things like reading and dealing with traffic, all the while without worrying about the clutch. After eventually going through successively bigger bikes, I did arrive at a true liter bike; in my opinion they're quite dangerous to ride because they turn small mistakes into huge accidents.
This is literally the only bike you would ever need' was out on mine today always a pleasure speed can creep up on you, especially on approach to roundabouts & corners, stay alert when getting on the power bike sounds good lots of nice green, enjoy 😉 👍
I will be like you this Tuesday Get my ZZR1400 2018 delivered from a XSR125 Which I only started riding July 2023 passed my test Nov 23 and just waited for the right bike
@@YoureGettingaWhat Hi there Yes I got it only Tuesday just gone All in all very nervous on my first ride in it only yesterday Sunday as temperatures was about right for me as definitely a fair weather rider Went for a 1hr 15 slow ride just to get used to it Absolutely loved it and such a capable machine was very nervous at first but once going I was fine Just kept my distance from anyone and controlled the right hand The bike was absolutely amazing to ride and so impressed with the riding position
started riding streetbikes around 1991 (20 years old). owned many bikes of various sizes and now own a 2019 zx14r. it is a bit quicker than the bike i had just before it which was a 2001 katana 600. lol.
Get used to using the rear brake it's great fun and don't go higher than 4th gear unless your on big long straights..and yes just relax on it till you get used to the power its an awesome piece of kit .and whats great.. up in Scotland we have the best bike roads In Britain...on the downside it eats back tyres and its a big heavy beast to push..
Ha! I know that bit of road, lots of speed cameras there so you be careful. Come to Finchingfield, up the A130 through Chelmsford. Lovely roads and I'll buy you a coffee at Winners Cafe. Ride safe.
it appears that your bike has delkevic 9" oval slip on mufflers like i have. i also purchased the 18" ovals. both have the DB KILLERS REMOVED od course.
Well done mate 👍 im looking at one of these fornmy swcond big bike have a xsr 700 now and i know all the roads you took 😂 there. Good honest little ride there 👍
Passed my test on a hired 125, took it back with pass certificate and test drove a Ducati 900 SS. "Are you sure, sir? If you bend it, you bought it" I didn't and I didn't. Bought a Bimota YB5 based on the Yamaha FJ1200 engine instead. Most people thought I was insane and wouldn't last a month. But hey, I took some advanced riding courses, did some track days and learnt how to ride the thing rather than hang onto it and hope. You definitely need to get some advanced training, keep learning and you'll be good. Otherwise you won't get the full benefit from that machine or it will just surprise you and kill you. Enjoy.
Even with advanced courses he shouldn’t try to get the full benefits on the street. These bikes are mainly status symbols on the street. You cruise with a high power bike and once in a blue moon when no one’s around and there’s an open straight road, you let it rip for a few seconds. He mainly just needs to get comfortable with the throttle. He really doesn’t need to learn to drag knee or leaning as far as possible on turns. Not when riding on public streets. Throttle control is all he really needs. Also people need to stop the death talk. The main reason for motorcycle fatalities isn’t super bikes. It’s intersections, cars turning left and lane splitting. He’s more likely to get hit from behind, sitting at a light than whisky throttling into oblivion. How about telling him to be safe and ride smart and not you will lose your life brah, if you don’t heed my warning.
@@noahknight4039 yeah, but that's kind of the point of advanced training. It's not about going as fast as possilbe and getting your knee down, it's about roadcraft and the appropriate application of speed. The track, however, is where you can give it the beans without risking other people's safety and minimising the risks to your own. Hence my recommendation.
I salute your bravery sir but you must be mad your leaving yourself sod all room for error!!. I went 50cc,200,250,500,750 850, 1000, 1400,1600 and still nearly killed myself on numerous occasions lol!.
I think what saved me is the power band on the bike not kicking in till 4000 revs. I have a GSXR 600 track bike which is savage from 2000 revs. What bike are you currently riding ?
The best bike on the planet ... ive had both generations ... lovely machine .
Fantastic video. Took me straight back to my first ride on my first big bike.
still my best day when i past my test got a big bike and had the best time ever .

It's always a good idea to test brake response BEFORE you get to your first busy, tiny crossing.
Gorgeous bike, man!
Agreed 👍, thanks for watching my more recent videos on the NC 500 are put together better.

Brilliant video, love your honesty and after I purchased my zzr1400 I felt the same. I'm still getting used to it. Enjoy.
Went from a 47 HP bike to a Hayabusa so I can imagine how scared you were. Enjoy it and be safe!
You did do the Right thing sweet bike keep the rubber side down
Knowing what you can-what you should=experience😊
Absolutely, now I have a bit more experience on the bike I love it but am aware it can get you into a lot of trouble quickly!!!
What do you ride ?
Because of the weight l fitted a centre stand to mine best thing l did
Nice one mate. Having ridden a ZZR 1100 after my GPZ500 I know how daunted you must have felt.
Yes they're a nice bike you made a good choice
Nice one mate, such a great feeling is it not? As we say oop north, gan canny lad. Creep up on speed, don't chase it. Enjoy.

Thanks for watching, did you check my latest vids on the NC 500 ?
Passed my mod 2 in November and been holding off getting a bike. Was looking today and there's a ZZR1400 for sale locally 🤔
How tempted are you ?
I am 50 and pretty tempted tbh , I was watching some of your NC500 vids, I used to be the postie at Balvonie in Inverness.
125 to that lol you nutter.

Riding a big 1584cc harley heritage softail classic at the moment weighs a ton lol!!
Have you cranked it up yet to over 140mph?
Yes at Snetterton 👍
Currently on a 125 😁
I loved my 125, great bikes
If you're terrified on a bike, you shouldn't be on it.
Thanks for the advice, do you ride ?
I do, my first sport bike was a Kaw zx12r, my next a first gen Kaw 1400, my current bike a 2020 Kaw 1400.
That's awful advice.
