    I really like this strat, the one I did when I completed my "Mary of Lothar" achievements was
    1.France doesn't rival you and you ally them
    2. Papal states rivals and excommunicated Provonce
    3. France attacks England, and will eventually decline the call to help Provonce (since you're allied they won't help due to attuited towards enemy)
    4. You can annex all of Lorraine and Provonce (other than Anjou) with no coalition due to the excommunication war CB.
    5. Break the alliance with France, improve with their vassals so you can get the mission that gives +50% liberty desire, then attack them when your truce is up. basically for here on out use the start in your vidoe, except you can get almost all of Provonce at the start.

    I enjoy your guides, but I have spent some time on different ideas regarding the Burgundy start. Hope you will consider them for your next Burgundy game
    An easy one - set your Bordeaux merchant to establish communities - this gives a 15% relations bonus with all the French vassals
    French cores - Day 1
    Go to diplo screen select Nevers and seize Rethelios
    Release Rethelois as Champagne
    Go to estates and pick strong duchies (because you now have 2 vassals)
    There you go you now have a vassal with 3 French cores (plus one in Orleans), and you just got another diplo slot. This means that you CAN now seize Paris in the first war.
    England - I always like to take Caux following the surrender of Maine before attacking France
    Get your troops into your Northern lands - I often ask France for access before I rival them
    Fabricate a claim on Caux. You can use hostile trading and remember to rival them. If RNGesus loves you the diet can give you a claim (assuming you rivalled England beforehand)
    Place two separate units of cavalry in Picardie and wait for the surrender of Maine. And wait.
    When the surrender of Maine occurs, pause the game, declare war on England for Caux, send one cavalry unit to Caux, and put Charles on the other unit and send it to Caen.
    Charles will arrive before the French, who will happily seige down the fort for you :) Whilst your PU's seige down Calais.
    When Portugal arrive (14k usually) kill them, because you are holding 2 English forts and the war goal you should have plenty of points to take the province.
    So King of the Franks is 18 = starting 10 + 1 Paris + 2 Provence + 4 Champange cores + 1 English
    The best way to deal with the Burgundian inhertance is to already have France as a Vassal. Then select the France option - You instantly inherit all your PU's and vassals for free including France :) And because France doesn't exist you aren't in a PU

    • @GerlofKasma
      @GerlofKasma 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes! After 20 tries I could ever get a max of like 3 vassals, most attempts failed or took too long and France had annexed most of the vassals already. The releasing of champagne is the key differentiator. First try with your strategy, captured caux, then war with France / cobeligerent Provence, took the 2 Provence provinces , returned the 4 champagne cores and took Paris, only France would join the coalition. Cored Paris and by 1461 I completed king of the Franks. Could've been faster if Aragon had joined the war. Brilliant strategy! Thanks.

    • @majicjon
      @majicjon 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@GerlofKasma Glad you liked it - you want part two ?
      France war #2 - Armagnac Cores
      Seize the two provinces from Armagnac (Rougergue and La Marche), then give Armagnac their freedom, yes release them as a vassal because they now hate you so much - lol
      Firstly release Rougergue as Toulouse (order is important) - gives cores on FIVE of Frances remaining provinces
      Secondly release La Marche as Gascony - Gives cores on three more French provinces + Armagnac who you just released + the two English provinces Labourd and Bordeaux (and Foix if you need them)
      Don't forget that Orleans already has a core on Touraine
      Annex Nevers and Champagne if you get the chance - France war #2 should be easy - even if they have decent allies
      Take as much as you can - you have NINE cores plus Labourd and Bordeaux if France has them - and they will generate almost no AE
      Remember the goal is make France small enough to vassalize them.
      So you can abdicate Charles - select to be in a PU under your own vassal - inherit everthing - and look loving at your big purple blob - Blue is so last years colour

    • @GerlofKasma
      @GerlofKasma 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@majicjon ok, that would've been the clever way to do it. I ended up declaring on Savoi to pull France in (they had a guarantee on them). Released Toulouse and took land to get up to 100%. Declared on Brittany to pull France in again, did white peace to get the duration down to 5 years. Declared directly to take land, then broke peace and vassalised by 1495, Charles died a year afterwards... (Had to kill the game twice to extend his tenure slightly).
      I think all in all, with Aragon in the first war and a bit smarter play around the reconquest on cores, you could have France vassalised by 1480? What's your fastest?

    • @JanXXVI
      @JanXXVI 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just did this, even got the papal controller before peacing out Provence and france, sieged down the entirety of france and it's vassals, i should perhaps not have sieged down his vassals but most of them went under 50 liberty desire, my vassal svarm did so and Aragon, i put France 700 ducats in debt, and now only Orleans has over 50 liberty desire, how many vassals did you get? Think i will try this again and not involve Aragon or any allies and controll my vassals better so to not attack any of his vassals.

    • @renejagers743
      @renejagers743 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you can even seize rethel from nevers and release champagne at the start, this also allows you to pick the stong duchies policy from the nobility wich is supperb.

If you have heir after Charles, i recommend killing he because annexing all of your subjects without waiting and dippower cost is amazing. Besides before triggering the event you can get as much provinces as you can without worrying ae because coalition cannot be formed against junior nation.

    There’s one cheeky thing you can do: you can seize land from Nevers from the start and release Champagne, which has cores on all of Ile-de-France except Paris and a core on Valois. Declare for reconquest and take back Champagne’s cores and Paris also.
    If you white peace Provence early or for cash, you can then attack them for excommunicado and take Verdun and Bar, and make Lorraine into a vassal. If France joins then you can quickly kill their armies again and reset the truce. Taking that completes the requirements for King of Franks and with some luck you will have some French vassals. If not the second best thing you can do is to make sure the duchies win their independence war. You need to cut France’s size as much as possible.
    I would recommend in the next war, take La Marche and a province you can release Toulouse from and declare for reconquest. Reset truce if you can, and the time should be about 1500. Pray Charles can live until the truce expires or if you don’t think he can make it, trucebreak and vassalise France.
    The coalition will probably trigger and if that happens force France to release some shit. It doesn’t matter. Then when the inheritance fires just go with France and voila, you integrate all of France plus lowlands for free.

    I would tweak this guide a little bit.
    If you seize rethelois of nevers the month before the declaration of war and liberating champagne you can take the strong duchies an reconquest Valois, Reims, Nemours and Troyes for basically no AE.
    So in the first war you can get Lorraine as a vassal from Provence + Verdun (I took all HRE related things - I didn't want to risk that they would become a HRE member). And then the reconquest of champagne of France. After this war is won, France is greatly weaken.

    • @LudietHistoria
      @LudietHistoria  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh dude that's actually a brilliant move! Will add that in when I redo teh guide for 1.31!

    • @tomhavenith2330
      @tomhavenith2330 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LudietHistoria, I go just through this Burgundy playthrough myself.
      First: Your guide + my little tweaks work.
      Second: As Burgundy my main bottleneck is AE - if you manage to ally Austria a small Coalition within the Empire is ok, but should be avoided is possible as long as any major player like France, England or Castille/Spain/Aragon stay out of it.
      I recommend therefore the "take one province" in one war and reconquer the rest later tactics. A war against England in the 1450 could be part of this guide. I recommend taking Caen to form Normandy.
      If France manages somehow to pacify / integrate its vassals try to take labourd and form gascony. Gascon cores never expire due to Gascon culture.
      You can also try to throw someone like Brittany or Switzerland under the bus. I mean you pick on them, attack them, take away all their alliances, take their money war reps and hope someone like England or France or even rest-Provence take them on... and when they are down to one province or don't even exist anymore sweep in... vassalize the rest / or take the one province to need to reconquest.
      This tactics work for Burgundy I found out - but they need the right ideas. I tried Quantity and Economics but that was a poor choice in the Burgundian situation. Influence + Admin seem far more appropriate. I'll try them in a rerun.
      I conquered only three provinces directly till 1495 but I integrated the champagne, lorraine, nevers and normandy and had Brittany and Gascony as vassals when the Burgundian Inheritance striked.
      The Burgundian Inheritance is quite simpel if you killed of France.
      First you stay independent. If you picked 35-40 years on France they don't even attack and if they do - they are the attacker and Austria helps you... The French attack is just some free money.
      Then the Emperor demands the lowlands and you take the inherit it with a priviledge option... if you are allied + RM the emperor will accept it.
      From there I'm not so sure what's best... stay in the empire to pick of the necessary provinces to form Lotharingia or to dismantle the whole thing as fast as possible... What's your take?
      I tried the former... it works but it's a littlebit slow.

    In my recent Burgundy game I had the bizarre luck that instead of Provence the Papal States excommunicated France. Made it really easy to conquer them first.
    Also, I strongly disagree with trying to avoid the Burgundian Inheritance from happening. Two of the options in the BI (integrate with the French and integrate with Austria) give you all you PU's and vassals for free, pretty much doubling (or even tripling, if you managed to do the King of the Franks mission before the BI) your dev and troops and the one where you stay independent also gives you an option to instantly integrate all the PU's for free (with a small, temporary autonomy malus). Besides that, you can use the integration with France or Austria to permanently cripple France or Austria in an independence war.
    If you played it right at the start, staying independent shouldn't be an issue either. Austria shouldn't declare on you if you are allied and you should already have killed France enough that them declaring in you is only in your advantage, since that declaration ignores truces and you can easily get even more stuff from them that way.
    The new BI is incredibly strong when played right and in avoiding it, you're giving yourself a huge disadvantage.

    • @LudietHistoria
      @LudietHistoria  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I agree, for an experienced player who know what he's doing, getting the BI done is a good thing. I will cover all choices to be taken from it and will do a video only focusing on the BI and showing how to get through it with the best outcome!

  • @ethanhester8008
    @ethanhester8008 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good strategy. Why not abuse the Reconquest CB by releasing Champagne?
    Just seize Rethel after you placate subjects, make Nevers loyal again, then you can use the CB for Troyes, Reims and Nemours. Allows for AE budgeting and the ability to take Paris without a coalition rising up.

    The mission doesn't give France vassals enough liberty desire to be disloyal anymore...
    I did this basically three times in a row and everytime they either are around 51% or, for most of them, at 48~46 liberty desire, thus remaining loyal. ...

  • @Quaristice
    @Quaristice 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just tried this strategy. It ended up being this incredibly annoying war where I’d take Paris and Chartres and then when I moved on to another city France would take them back. Those provinces exchanged hands three times before Aragon did a separate peace when they ran out of manpower, leaving me to get utterly annihilated. At one point I had a war score of 28% and by the time I ragequit I was -14%. I haven’t wanted to throw my laptop across the room this much since I lost a Champions League final in Football Manager 2008.

Integrating the lowlands for free, admittedly with 50 min autonomy for 20 years, is solo good and let's you take advantage of stealing France's subjects.
