One of the luckiest games I ever had. Started as Great Horde 3 days ago. Muscovy had 3 regencies in quick succession and Poland didnt take the PU. I allied Novgorod and rallied in Muscovy. They got Ryazan while I was having fun in Crimea but released them later and now they have all of Muscovy while I killed the hordes. Currently killing off Timmies.
after restarting about 12 times due to crimea making alliance with ottomans and/or ryazan making alliance with novgorod, i finally had a start similar to yours.. i ate up ryazan, and crimea almost identically to your playthrough. however, the muscovite war was a disaster that wiped me back to a stage weaker than 11.11.1444... Instead of splitting into little easy spots of armies like in your playthrough, I had a 55k army of muscovy+vassals stomping all my troops and then carpet siege all my steppes... fml
I've tried this start a few times now, you got pretty lucky with the alliances at the start. in a good number of my tries Crimeria and the ottomans are allies (before the event), or Ryzan is guarenteed by lithouania before 11 Dec, or Nogai/Kazan/Uzbek all ally each other. another point is that the Free Company is the exact size to siege a level3 fort, so if they get a bad roll and lose more than thair monthly reinforcement, they will stall on the siege, so its a good idea to put a 1 stack of Infantry off your other armies with them.

Don't see people mention this much, but all the tatar hordes can easily flip to orthodox, which is great not only because orthodox is great but it also nicely complinents the Golden Hordes ideas. You can get dirt cheap dev cost and absurd manpower from all your modifiers.
I was able to form the Golden Horde in 1499 on my second try, but now i'm at admin tech 4 and have 48 corruption and almost went bankrupt when my leader died 😬
just finished my play with the great horde and did all achievments possible with them. u need to plunder the citys with ur forces because in 1.30 the raizing is bugged. u will get the mana but not the money. i hope they fix that soon because it fucks ur money.u should use the horde cb agaisnt muscovy bc the A.I likes to walk with small stacks and u can wipe them ez with ur army that way u can get high warscore with not even sieging anything. in my playthrough the ottoman were the best allys i had restored the great mongolian empire and took egypt and they didnt rival me lol

In my game I actually managed to ally Poland and they had a PU over Lithuania so and didn’t want any land so they just carried me through the Muscovy war.
I think they don't ally Tver because they already are at the maximum number of relations (and they probably never take the +2 relations from the nobles) Good guide

I notice in your videos sometimes you say things that are incorrect. In the beginning of the video for the gold rush achievement you said that you have to form the great horde instead of golden horde.
1. Vasalls 2. Focus on admin 3. Taking admin ideas earlier 4. Instead of full cores, establish trade companies (depending on how much you need the government reform progress) 5. Avoid second and third admin policy 6. Ideas before Tech, since you can't get idea discount just by waiting 7. Press for institutions: if you have more than ~10% institution penalty, your points are better off in developing the instition 8. Try not to go beyond government limit (extra ccc (core creation cost reduction/increase also reduces/extends the time it takes to core) ) I know: the further you are from Western Europe or a good trade node, the harder it gets to stay up in tech. Falling behind in dip is totally fine, in admin is undesirable but a-ok (governing capacity), in mil is problematic
Could you please update this? Some of the DLC must have drastically altered things in this area because great horde has 0 siege ability at the start. Takes me forever to siege down Crimea's capital. They're almost always allied with Kazan and Nogai at the start, and Ryzan with Iver making it very difficult to just take cause iver is surronded by muscovoy. Had an army of 24k sitting on Crimea, the free company + my 2 spawn stacks, and Nogai/Kazan took all of my land and liberated the other crimea provinces before i sieged it down.
Allay Usbek, try to ally ottomans , give tribes priviledges that increate loyality and give you more manpower, hire mercenaries, attack Raisan, full annex, crimea and take necessary provinces , improve lithuania to get feudalism, bully caucasian minors, attack muscovy and lure them on to the steppe to crush them, take necessary provinces from nogai and only turn on Usbekistan once you broke Muscovy. Take Golden horde ideas because they are better. I didn't even take any ideas yet. Also gie tribes the looting bonus, you get free loyality, and the price is tiny
fucking hell, tried it. by 11 dec ryazan got an alliance with novgorod, got guaranteed by lithuania and poland took the local noble. crimea got an alliance with ottos and nogay got allied to timmy. uzbek didnt want to be friends and allied kazan instead. dunno if i could have a worse start than that

Wow, that's quite bad RNG. You sure you pause on 11 dec 1444? That is a very important thing....and novgorod allied to ryazan is not a problrm, go and bleed novgorod dry of cash if they ally. Crimea ally otto means restart
I would recommend not to play hordes right now because there is a glitch in the game that causes so you dont get any money from razing provinces so there is a lot of struggle with economy in hordes rn it will be patched in the next update.
I'm confused about how you manage to do it. I don't like being low on manpower, but with all the conquests and subsequent risk revolt, I don't like being low on horde unity either, because eventually crushing rebels also drains your manpower. So just like you I keep on waging wars until (unlike you) I get to 0 manpower, and then I get those stupid events saying I should stop being at war, which you just can't do when you're a horde. So your merc tip for sieging is ok, but it just delays the inevitable. Even when you only fight on steppe. And I also just can't seem to manage financially. I don't borrow until the last minute, and yet after 10 years I never manage to go beneath 10 loans at a time. Kind of like my last byz run.
Nothing about this guide worked. I did about five play through and nothing he said work. Razan constantly got allies, same with Crimea. Kazan starts out with twice my army and actively seeks battles, I always had to improve relations with Uzbek to get the alliance, and Timurids were always allied to Kazan or Nogai.
Sad to hear it man, I know RNG can be a pain, but here's some tips to help you out if your enemies ally some big chads: 1. Fight on favorable terrain 2. use full combat width in each engagement 3. divide their armies, dont fight them when they got a bigger stack than you 4. attrition them if you can't divide their armies
2 months late, so my response is for everyone else who may struggle with it. Some places are worth so little I just raised autonomy there. Other places you gotta fight the rebels(make sure to use the mercs to preserve manpower).

Looks like razing still isn’t working great, a shame since it’s a pretty important horde feature from what I understand.

When I play Moscovy I just annex Tver as soon as I finish with Novgorod, the AI probably sees them as too weak to be worth it.
