    Close to pulling the trigger on this or the Octave Horizon. Any preference after your reviews? Thanks

      The Douglas Summit was a stronger performer compared to the Octave Horizon, so that would be my pick.

    Thanks for this detailed review, I’m inching towards the Summit for its low-sink, cooling and medium-firm feel. It would be nice if Douglas offered more feature-rich adjustable bases, however. Your channel is great, the videos are well-put together, consistent and well organized. You deserve way more subscribers!

      You're welcome! Glad you found it helpful.
      I do agree, I'd like to see Douglas expand their adjustables also.
      Thanks so much for your sub and your kind words! With any luck the TH-cam algorithmic will show us some love this year.

      Hey there! Thanks for your feedback on our adjustable bases. We'll be sure to pass it along to our product development team! In the meanwhile, if you have any questions about the Summit, don't hesitate to reach out.

    I'm a side sleeper who runs hot on all-foam mattress, but always prefers them because of motion transfer.
    In looking at cooling as a top consideration, is it worth the price jump to choose the Summit over the Original?
    How does the Original compare to something like a Zinus? (If you have any experience with that.)
    Love the content! As a researcher, I appreciate your approach and documentation.

    • @NapLabReviews

      The cool difference between the Summit and Original is not dramatic. I don't think you'd find it worth the extra costs.
      The Original is significantly better than any Zinus I've tested. Zinus is an extremely basic mattress and is currently being sued with a class action lawsuit due to fiberglass safety concerns - www.classaction.org/news/class-action-claims-zinus-mattresses-can-expel-fiberglass-causing-injury-property-damage - suffice to say, it's not one I'd recommend.

      @@lesliecapobianco1254 Nest Bedding's Sparrow would be your best option (while keeping the price to a reasonable level) - naplab.com/go/nest-bedding-sparrow-mattress - Though it's still far more expensive then the Douglas.
      Avocado Eco is another good choice and a little less expensive - naplab.com/go/avocado-eco-mattress

    Lightweight side sleeper here. This mattress is WAY too firm. My arms fall asleep when I lay on my side and I can't sleep AT ALL. Also the motion transfer is very high. Maybe not for a wine glass on one side and localized weight of a bowling ball on the opposite side but a person moving around next to another person definitely makes the whole bed shake. Even slight movements from my partner can be felt on my side of the bed. This review was what made me lock and load on this mattress when looking for one. Sending the mattress back!!

    • @NapLabReviews
      @NapLabReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm sorry to hear the mattress wasn't a good fit for you.
      If you're finding this level of firmness to be too firm, you may need to step down considerably on the firmness scale to something in the "soft" or "extra soft" range. This mattress is a very typical medium to medium-firm feel. Unfortunately, your options for an extra soft mattress in Canada are extremely limited.
      Regarding motion transfer - what type of bed frame do you have?
      All of our tests are done on a solid platform frame, which creates the lowest levels of motion when compared to other frames. Certain frames and foundations can create considerably more motion.

    Douglas summit mattress or Logan and cove hybrid mattress (medium)?
    I'm a relatively light side sleeper, but also very sexually active. I have to trade off for the bounce 🥲.
    What do you think?

    • @NapLabReviews

      Both are fantastic performers, but given your needs I would say the L&C Frontier is the better choice.

    I think you said there’s no memory foam in the summit but I’m pretty sure it’s in the original. On the website all their mattresses use the same type of foam just different depths.

    • @NapLabReviews
      @NapLabReviews  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My apologies for the confusion. I should have been more clear.
      There is no visco elastic polyurethane foam in any of the mattresses. Historically, manufacturer's have used the label "memory foam" in place of visco elastic polyurethane foam.
      In more recent years manufacturers have largely stopped using visco elastic polyurethane foam, instead relying on more modern non-visco elastic poly foam formulations. These formulations retain many of the attributes of earlier memory foams, but aren't heat reactive and don't have many of the negative attributes (heat retention, slow response).
      All that to say, none of the Douglas mattresses use visco elastic polyurethane foam. But they do use poly foams that behave like other modern memory foams.
      Hope that clears it up.

    • @jasonmccarty9
      @jasonmccarty9 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Awesome thanks! Super helpful. Are there not still strict visco elastic memory foam beds by tempur pedic, etc.

    • @NapLabReviews
      @NapLabReviews  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jasonmccarty9 They are still out there, but they are far less common. It's hard to know if it's more traditional memory or not until it's actually at your door...as "memory foam" has no legal definition. As a result, brands use it to describe both visco elastic poly foam and non-visco elastic poly foam.

      Interesting. I can’t stand the mattress industry. A whole lot of useless marketing and gimmicks that don’t make better mattresses. I was at a store recently and they read a spec sheet of a Kingsdown they had horse hair in it. It was also a mile high. Ridiculous.

    How do you do the sex test?

    • @NapLabReviews
      @NapLabReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Our sex score is a simple equation where we look at 5 different factors. Each factor is given a different weight based on how important we think that factor is for most people.
      Bounce = 60% (objective measurement)
      Edge support = 20% (objective measurement)
      Noise = 10% (subjective assessment)
      Pressure relief = 5% (subjective assessment)
      Cooling = 5% (subjective assessment)
