    Does Canada know something that everyone else doesn’t when it comes to sleeping? The Douglas mattress from GoodMorning.com is available only in Canada, and I’m here to find out if the rest of the world is missing out.
    Sleepopolis maintains an affiliate relationship with some of the products reviewed, which means we get a percentage of a sale if you click over from our video (at no cost to our viewers). Also, many mattress and sleep product companies send us their products for free with the hope that we will like it and review it. However, there is certainly no guarantee that we will review it favorably. See our full disclosures here: sleepopolis.com/disclosures/
    I will take the Douglas through its paces, testing its composition and feel before comparing it to other mattresses in its price range-the Endy and the Casper. Even if you can’t get your hands on a Douglas, you can still get one of these brands outside of Canada.
    GoodMorning.com is the company that brings us the Douglas. The Douglas seems to be the standard for the expanding company-the product that is meant to balance performance with value.
    The company differentiates the Douglas by dubbing it the “All Canadian Mattress.” It is made 100% in Canada with materials the company says are eco-friendly. Since they are selling to a strictly Canadian audience, this may certainly improve sales. Does it mean anything for the actual performance of the mattress?

    Another great review for another brand i havent seen before :) Great review Logan... the Douglas looks like an amazing bed and the fact that you said it would be good for side sleepers being a hair softer than a medium...so for a side sleeper like myself this one looks interesting. I was a bit concerned about the amount of green that showed up in the hip area on the pressure test ...The idea that this may sleep a bit cooler appeals to me as well but im not a big fan of Memory foam but love gel foam so i will have to look into this one more. I also love the 15 year warranty though...i have to do more research on this one for sure

    Well, I was very excited to watch this review on the Douglas mattress, then at the end sad because it's only available in Canada! BOO!!! LOL!!! We are both mainly side sleepers so the 6/10 firmness rating seems to be perfect! Love the Tencel blend cover, and the 2' cooling gel layer, making this a very cool-sleeping mattress. I sleep hot, so another plus!!! Pressure map and motion transfer was also a big plus... only a bit of green! Maybe one day they will make the Douglas mattress for US consumers. Thanks for the great review!

    Love the vids, thanks for the advice! Question for you.... The Bed in a BOx people as a whole don't recommend that we use a box spring..... Why? I cant really seem to find a justifiable reason. Also, in an effort to cut costs, what about the idea of sheets of plywood over the boxspring, then the mattress? Good foundations aren't cheap!

    • @danielstewart-martin1317
      @danielstewart-martin1317 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I found the answer on the Douglas webpage. Most box springs have too wide a gap between slats (Douglas recommends no more than 3" gaps with at least 2" slats). Either a sheet of plywood, or a base selected with the spacing in mind would do the trick.

    For reference, what's your height/weight? I see a lot of women describe this mattress as firmer, and a lot of guys describe it as softer. Am thinking it's softer when you are heavier. I'm 5'11" 185 and am a side sleeper with larger shoulders, and think the douglas could be perfect as I want a firmer mattress but soft on my shoulder for pressure relief.

  • @janicemyrick7869
    @janicemyrick7869 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Only available in Canada?... No wonder I haven't heard of Douglas. It does look like it provides good pressure relief for my shoulders, which I love. But it doesn't give enough support for heavier sleepers (i.e. 250#).

      I tested the Logan & Cove Firm version and found it really supportive. I'm honestly pretty surprised you find the Douglas to be so firm. If you're looking at soft mattresses in Canada you could also check out the Polysleep. If you're trying to stay under the GoodMorning dot com company you could go with a soft Novosbed for memory foam comfort.

    I hate really firm mattresses, I am glad this is on the softer side. I like to sink into my bed.

    I guess I should watch until the end before I comment. "250 to 300 lbs" heavier folks. Thanks! LOL!

    DO NOT BUY THIS MATTRESS if you are a side sleeper. It is WAY TOO SOFT and will destroy you lower back, Just in time for the refund to not be available anymore.
    I repeat - DOOOOOOO NOTTTTTT BUYYYYYYYYY THIS!

      Hello I’m doing my research because I want to buy one- I’m curious to know your weight when sleeping on this mattress as I am only 100 pounds and wondering what the firmness scale on this mattress would be for me

    Casper original sounds perfect for me! I am completely a side combo sleeper and need that medium firmness! Also, I love memory foam mattresses, but hate when I feel stuck which is why the Casper seems perfect for me!

    That looks great for my skinny butt. I love the tree line!
