It's not a mistake. Part of their onstage energy was they used to fuck with eachother, change bits up to set another member off their stride so to speak. The part you refer to is Jones intimating to Bonham "hey man wanna put Pagey off a bit", and Bonhams like no man, not now. It was a constant part of their act and no doubt personal interaction but also for me added to the dynamism of their live performances. Check it out over other stuff you will see.
If you want to see Jonesy fucking with Jimmy, watch “going to california” earls court 1975. Whatever the mistake may have been it’s not very audible to us the audience but his bass amp is blasting at Bonzo so he would hear everything..
Gus Dixon I sincerely doubt that, considering he actually recorded that so many years later. But it does seem like the riff was in his head for quite a long time in some form or other.

I think an underappreciated aspect of Zep's live jams is the way Plant accompanied Page and did his own vocal explorations, which gave us moments of rare beauty, especially in TSRTS.
Jimmy Page is sublime, beyond super awesome or there must be a higher praise for him; what an utterly out of this world phenomenal musician, Robert Plant's voice is so beautiful and he's a great performer and writer, John Bonham had special command on his drumming and his ability to play the drums was exceptional, JP Jones's talent and creativeness was/is excellent. They all were genuises and still are. Bonham's son is now showing so much virtuosity like his dad. I loved them!! I wish I was a teen or born in the time they were at the height of creating music. RIP J Bonham and thank you that your son followed your footstep.
Yeah and over 40 yrs later it seems some of the best music came out of the 60's and 70's I'm still finding stuff I haven't heard from that era and it keeps my attention .
This is jimmy's song, but Robert Plant's voice @ 4:09 is some of the most amazing singing I have ever heard. Not a great edit around the end, but DAMN!!!! Incredible.
1:48 - 3:02 ...this is why they are the best to ever do it...Page starts really improvising so Bonham and JPJ do the same with Bonham basically soul reading Page. Then plant comes back in with perfect timing to send it off 😍
Page best guitarist, Jones best bassplayer (and not only; keyboard, mandolin, etc etc), Plant best vocalist and frontman, Bonham best drummer and percussionist. Four geniuses, four friends, four incredible musicians. There are the reasons why Led Zeppelin were, are and will be the best group of all times. And Peter Grant, the best manager. My personal opinion.
Freddie Mercury best vocalist/frontman... I love Plant and he is certainly at the height of his powers here. But don't get it twisted. My personal opinion. :-)

Can we just explicitly appreciate the chemistry between these 4 musicians? When Bonzo joins in to create this duet sort of thing with jimmy around the middle of the video, he knows and can tell what's coming and you can see he's prepared for it. At around 3:02 when robert joins into the melody Jimmy has just created and sings actual lyrics with it. All this improvisation isn't in the recording, and what they did on that night is what makes music so amazing and special.
Rest In Peace- but if Jimi Hendrix were among the living when Page was at his BEST EVER - like right here in this bit from Dazed in ‘73, he’d no doubt walk away scratching his head after seeing such eruption from that Les Paul. I’m sorry but Jimmy Page will forever be known as rocks’ greatest guitarist. Hands down.
Page is my favorite but there’s too many great guitarists who are great because of different reasons and styles. There’s too many different styles to say one was the absolute best
I’ve never seen a drummer trade licks with the lead guitarist before. Just wild this band was. Jimmy delivering time and note sculpting from another dimension, Robert vocal jamming and JPJ working it out in real time to keep up. Jimmy and Bonham and Page and Jones were all next level. Not even a close second to zeppelin existed. Maybe Van Halen a decade later had the same 4 man virtuosity, but even they didn’t have the songs and the jams like this band.
At age 12 I remember seeing this very section on dazed and it pulled me in like a spell was cast over me I love this part of the song where they go into another dimension once it starts u don’t come back from it long live the mighty Led Zealand

@@rudigernreichratzinger1088 dude with the amount of skill Jimmy Page had. He blew Blackmore out immediately not even a match dude. I can't believe you even brought BLACKMORE up 😂😂😂 oh god...
@@hesch-tag grossly underrated ...check out Jimmy plays woodstock...unreal
Nothing quite gives me the chills like 2:10
Achilles last stand 🤟🏽
Same here
Bonham just kicks ass
That he does THAT HE DOES!
Speechless
Yes!
WhatSideOfTheBed DidYouWakeUpOn 😂 really now prove it
Bonham looks down and digs deep
Dazed & Confused is an epic musical journey into Page's dark realm
Hats off to Jimmy for this performance. Hes great in this.
Jimmy Page was on some shit this night. His dazed and confused solo was potentially the best solo I’ve ever heard.
Jimmy page é o maior e melhor guitarrista de rock de todos os tempos 🇧🇷👹🤘🔥
Jimmy Page playing can be described as beautiful with big wild horns!!
The way he plays that guitar!! Damn roberts voice.! Bonzos drumming! The best band in history what defines rock!!! Period
amazing progression...this is when music takes you on a journey
This sound is so unbelievably good it feels like spiritual alchemy
This improvisation is so genius and emotional I cant put it in words
Increíble Jimmy page adelantado a su tiempo año 73 wow genial el mejor..
Led Zeppelin was a powerhouse...the energy could be felt through sound waves...the best band ever !!!
Jimmy is one of the greatest I have ever seen live. With Robert plants voice do I need to say anymore.
This is in my top 3 favorite LZ moments live ever. The music is transcendent.
I saw Led Zeppelin in concert in 1973. This video reminds of how great the band was in that period.
I played air guitar to this more than I can remember!!! F'N awesome!!
Man ive run out of words to desribe how good this band are and how much i love them
Yeah and over 40 yrs later it seems some of the best music came out of the 60's and 70's I'm still finding stuff I haven't heard from that era and it keeps my attention .
1973. When Rock Gods roamed the earth.
2:15 Did Bonzo just hit 3 at a time??? Holy Shit
yeah he hits 2 cymbals with his right hand and one on his left
Page is a genius. Greatest composer in rock history.
Page at his Best. One of the Greatest guitar players of all time.
Thank god they have this on film....I was there & dont remember much. But it was 47 years ago.
This is jimmy's song, but Robert Plant's voice @ 4:09 is some of the most amazing singing I have ever heard. Not a great edit around the end, but DAMN!!!! Incredible.
Totally agree. My hair stands up on end when he's, "AHHHAAHAHHH...AHHHAHAAA!" 🔥🔥🔥
@@MJEvermore853 YESSS!!!!! EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!
His favorite words are mama baby and girl
Thanks "TheMoruno1" for this video 1973 !
Hands down.
Rory gallagher best guitarist ever
Page is my favorite but there’s too many great guitarists who are great because of different reasons and styles. There’s too many different styles to say one was the absolute best
Both srv and hendrix are better by far
2:04 My favorite part of dazed and confused presentations!! With the "going to san francisco" lyrics
I just turned 60 on the 5th of this month , The Song Remains the Same.....
Just amazing.. Goosebumps all the way
Happy Birthday 80th ...... Sir James Patrick Page 1944 Yardbird
Ay... como te amo Jimmy Page!
aaawn brigado
I’ve never seen a drummer trade licks with the lead guitarist before. Just wild this band was. Jimmy delivering time and note sculpting from another dimension, Robert vocal jamming and JPJ working it out in real time to keep up. Jimmy and Bonham and Page and Jones were all next level. Not even a close second to zeppelin existed. Maybe Van Halen a decade later had the same 4 man virtuosity, but even they didn’t have the songs and the jams like this band.
When people ask ...why do you think Jimmy Page is the greatest guitarist ever...I send them here and case closed.
Frank zappa was light years ahead of jimmy .....jimmy was sloppy
@@chrisjenkins5846 wheres the sloppiness in this performance???
Agreed
Page is fantastic, but Zappa is better.
Slight decline here I would say. I show people Royal Albert Hall 1970.
Nothing but pure magic.
Watching Jonesy and Bonzo visually communicate a mistake while sounding like pure magic was priceless
At age 12 I remember seeing this very section on dazed and it pulled me in like a spell was cast over me I love this part of the song where they go into another dimension once it starts u don’t come back from it long live the mighty Led Zealand
Achilles Last Stand :O
It's truth
Pre Heroin Jimmy was untouchable. He was still a guitar a god when he got on that terrible stuff but he couldn’t be touched in ‘73-‘76
2:00 to 3:00 Bonzo and JPJ interacting... the part i enjoy the most
I've been an avid guitarist maniac since 1970 with Toni Lommi with Black Sabbath and Carlos Santana through today to Satriani and Buckethead. This a still the greatest guitar solo ever.
Tremendo solo. Estar allí tendría que haber sido alucinante, a ese volumen, en directo... Buaaa, que grandes los Zeppelin. Nunca me canso de escucharlos. Gracias por compartir 😊 👍
Long live rock and roll!!! Happy birthday Jimmy Page❤❤
I remember seeing them a couple weeks before this NYC concert at the Aud in Buffalo, NY.
Song name is ",Dazed and confused" from album "Led zeppelin" (1969)
