Everything Celtic Frost + Triptycon made post-millenial is pure gold! I grew up in the 90s and 00s, Celtic Frost was more a metal legend for me, i had no tapes or recordings and never really heard much of them. It was okay, i accepted it, since i wasn't expecting that much impact on me. When Monotheist came out i was just blown away. it is so versatile and dense. Just listen finally to 'a dying god coming into human flesh' or 'Totengott'. Even my fav genre was black metal, it made me shiver like nothing else. it was a crazy comeback

You really want to make video for every subgenre of a subgenre? Cool. Big respect for even attempting, but I really have hard time seeing this as achieveable. It’ll take forever, feels like new one pops up every year. But I love these, because it introduces even long time fans like me to new stuff, or stuff I knew, but never gave a serious listen.
I hope you make video about eastern metal, like vedic metal (indian metal) or middle eastern folk metal. And trance metal video, because I still despite the evidence can’t believe it’s as popular as it is.

Very great look as always. Surprised you chose Winter instead of Rippikoulu for an early Death/Doom band.
Now, on the next few vids you will be doing...
Downtempo deathcore is something I have yet to check, so I'm interested on what you have to say on it.
For the NWOBHM video, I have some things I'd like to say on it.
*1. You probably will mention Judas Priest for an early look at the style, but I hope you also mention Quartz. It was produced by Tony Iommi and seems to be mentioned as an influence to the style*
*2. Def Leppard is a band that people might forget/not realize was a part of the movement. So even a simple mention would be good on them.*

Although Funeral is one of the oldest bands in the genre, formed in 1991, Thergothon and Cathedral are still the grandfathers of funeral doom. Both formed in 1989. Alhough Cathedral's "Forest Of Equilibrium" came out in 1991, it's still perhaps more doom with funeral doom parts. Thergothon's "Stream From The Heavens" came out not until 1994, but they did release both of their demo's in 1991.
And those two albums and still some of the best ever done.
In death/doom or gothic/doom I'll go with Winter, old My Dying Bride and Paradise Lost - "Gothic"

I still can't tell for sure what is the difference between Funeral Doom and "Depressive/S**cidal Black Metal", I mean it is Black Metal but the sound is a bit hard for me to distinguish.
Additionally, what really is the difference between Sludge, Downtempo Deathcore and Blackened Death?
I know I am throwing a lot out there but would appreciate if you, or anyone else reading this would educate me about it, because I can't for the life of me tell the difference without splitting hairs.

    • @whatsinameme5258

DSBM has a much stronger feeling of anguish. If Funeral Doom is mourning others, DSBM is mourning the self. Because of this, DSBM is considered a bit "emo" compared to normal Black Metal. I have even heard it called Blackcore by some people. Not sure I entirely agree with that name, but I see where they are coming from. Funeral Doom is more detached. The vocals are much more dispassionate. Less anguished. Instead of emotional black metal shrieks, its either somber clean vocals, or monotone death metal growls. It is less personal, because it is about others rather than the self. Instrumentally though, yes they are similar. As DSBM often has doom influence mixed in. Downtempo Deathcore in a VERY loose way, could be considered a Sludge offshoot. As they both mix Doom and Hardcore to varying degrees. Hope that helps!

@@whatsinameme5258 I see, however I still can't grasp downtempo deathcore, I listen to a lot of Blacktougue and that is my idea of it so it may/may not be the best representation, but obviously they obviously have next to none in terms of hardcore influence.. its mostly black and death metal. However I will be on the lookout for the downtempo deathcore video since you promised that a while back as maybe it may extrapolate on this more, sorry for replying late, love your videos man.

@@apolloxeon down tempo deathcore = deathcore but slower
Oversimplified but i think that's the simplest i can say. Deathcore has death metal + hardcore/metalcore influence whatever you feel is better.
The genre simply feels like you're in the phase of deathcore songs when they get slower or when slow breakdowns. But there's a video on it out rn so have a look and see for yourself.

Only mentioning 2 of the peaceville 3 and calling them gothicmetal is a disgrace to the genre.Paradise Lost,My Dying Bride and Anathema where the frontrunners of the deathdoom genre.Coming from the british grind/hardcore scene but focussing on the slow parts like Deviated Instinct did(grindcore band with a great deathdoom album).
Obituary claim they where Celtic Frost/Hellhammer fanboys and if you had played Dethroned Emperor from Celtic Frost next to Slowly we rot you can hear it.
Asphix started out as a death band when their later vocalist was still screaming his guts out in Pestilence(pure 80's death).
Talking about Funeral Doom and not mentioning Sun O))) is a mistake and although I can't blame anyone Winter was influenced by the dutch band Necro Schisma
This comes from someone who witnessed it all in the eighties,Hell my band even opened for Asphix and Paradise Lost on their first gig on this side of the northsea😜

@@erwancrespo7142 Fair. I mean Death + Thrash + Hardcore = Groove Metal anyway. And Crust is basically Metallic Punk. So we are pretty much saying the same thing with different words I think. The reason I think of Crust in relation to Chaos AD is the Anarchist spirit of it. That plus the Tribal influences lend to it's Anarcho-Primitivist vibe. It's my favourite Sepultura album too. I had one guy tell me it has to be from the UK to be Crust, but apparently some of Chaos AD was recorded in the UK, so... but yeah I'll leave it at that. Great record regardless. I guess there is a bit of Industrial, but that's more in the remix of Refuse Resist than anything else.
