William Stezowski. I read that before I watch the part of the video and I thought he was referring to to virus 😂😂! I agree, Nate Listen to this smart man!
Brazilian rosewood is was very commonly used in fretboards for guitars up until the recent import ban because of the trees being cut down for the wood being considered endangered (I'm pretty sure it was something like that) So that's some fairly special wood ya got there, also Tyler childers is cool
You deserve millions of subs. I've been watching you for a while and you're so consistent and charismatic, above all you make incredible lures BY HAND! Love the stuff you're putting out man!
I have some kind of trees in my yard that everyone keeps telling me is ironwood. Chainsaws can't even seem to get through those trees without a lot of work and a lot of stops to sharpen the teeth again and again. The trunks on those trees were not that thick either.
I am always impressed with your work. Your videos have gotten my son (10) and I into carving baits. Thank you for all the great videos. Keep up the good work and thank you.
Nate, please make a wooden stickbait that people use for big pelagics like yellowtail kingfish, giant trevally etc. Like a carpenter for example, what do you think?
Some dense woods have resin in them like that. Ebony does also. It is toxic. Also it usually helps to wipe with denatured alcohol and remove what you can before finishing. Resin is oily so finish can have some adhesive issues over time. I finish a lot of exotic woods and hardwoods on private jet cabinetry for a living. Been doing it for 14 years now.
Watching your videos reminds me of making wooden animal figurines and other stuff and you put my love of fishing into those memories thank you one day I home to bring woodworking to my daughter's life
You have one of the most inspiring channels. I wish I had access to a full woodshop again but for now I'm going to try making some in my apartment. Lol. Thanks for being really entertaining too.
Bro dont stop doing your thing ! I'm a fishing addict and a artist . Your vids inspired me to start making hardbaits . I used this covid19 lockdown to build up that new skills . Bought every tool needed in a week, all the way down to the air brush . Still missing a led pot ... using a spoon and a torch .... Already had some artresin for my clear coat . And bro '" thanks to you" my first bait turned out amazing ! Much respect for sharing your skillz .
Fun Facts! This wood (teak) in my country is the most bestest to use to make house traditionally, most traditional house like since sultanate of Malacca or before that. This wood is also very good for Furnitures, woodworks, and traditional boats. The Javanese Giant Djong (Jong Jawa) was made of this wood, along with Mendam Berahi, Lanchang Kuning, Geliung Acheh, various War Djongs and many more (Ancient Malay World). This wood is highly prized here in southeast asia and south asia. It is very expensive and hard to get, so some seller use cheaper Substitute for it like Shorea wood. Ok now fun facts over.
Thanks for inspiring me to start my channel. I love woodworking and fishing and when I saw your channel I knew making lures cod be my new hobby and now I have a channel and I'm making lures. Thanks again Marling Baits. Stay safe.
I can’t believe there are real people that accidentally hit the dislike button. 🤦♂️ Guys if that happens to you, stop and immediately hit the like button to undo your mistake....This has been a service announcement on the behalf of Marlin Baits. Nice looking bait! I love that wood grain with the clear coat on it, and with those crazy looking Freddy Mercury eyes. AND you caught a fish. Great video.
You should try lignum vitae, also known as ironwood, at some point, too. Not only is it super hard, but it has an amazingly wonderful and intoxicating scent. I’ve made rings, knife scales, and even guitar pics out of it. I’d be interested to see if the natural oils in the wood might even attract fish.
I was so hopefully for the part of making it O-fishal! Haha so glad to see a fish caught and lure not lost! That wood has such an awesome grain....you should do a small muskrat swimbait with it!
So I've been watching you for a while and love your content and it's inspired me to start trying to make my own and tips on a good base wood to start with
Hi Nice job with this Lure. I have never worked with Teak Wood. I think someone told me it has oil in it. That is why it is used for boat building. I'm not sure. I have a ten inch dia. by Ten long piece of Iron Wood trunk from somewhere in the central US. A friend brought it to me. That is one hard piece of wood. It is a dark Maroon color. The only thing I made from it was Guitar picks. I don't use picks but my Jazz playing friend loves them. They work pretty good. Some day I plan on making something from it. Not sure what. I've had it for over 20 years. LOL
You should make merch that says “we don’t strive for health we strive for nice baits”

Love this channel. this could be 3 hours long and I'd still watch it. anyone else feel this way.??
When Marling baits makes a bait from the wood your named after.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching you stumble through your garage for thirty minutes and some how creating a bait in the process!
Had to do a double take with that title.
That was funny as heck.
You deserve millions of subs. I've been watching you for a while and you're so consistent and charismatic, above all you make incredible lures BY HAND!
Love the stuff you're putting out man!
I would like to see a micro bait again(in sommer something like a micro poper would be cool)
I learned two things today. 1: Teak is very hard. 2: Belt sanders make poor tables. Keep up the great work man. Love your videos.
I was worried you were never coming back😢
Omg I’ve been watching your vids all day binging and I just realized I fish this spot all the time
Best video ever watched the whole thing already
“It’s the wood, I swear, don’t take me away” got me laughing so hard!!!
No wood can ever beat Marling Baits, no matter how hard it is.
Back at it again with excellent musical taste
“Things are clicking and it sounds like electricity is going through it”
Me: glad you’re just making baits
Thank you for keeping your videos clean and not full of garbage.
Need to get some African iron wood too you, try carving that🤣 axes don't even dent it

He made some crankbaits(or jerkbaits i cant remember) a while back out of iron wood, idk about african iron wood(if there is a difference)
Dalbergia melanoxylon
How about some Osage Orange?
You have excellent taste in music man. I love Tyler Childers.
Well you know you’re old when you start talking about the weather first thing lol
Old or British

Yah especially when he said he shakes the hungrier he gets.

Hey marling, could you try making a replica pike lure?
ToxicBoa that would be big 😆
wow that really is freddy ! so cool ! .... i like it .... and learn something about Teak Wood

I watch you make all of these Bates with such ease it gives me false confidence on how easy it will be for me to carve the wood grips I'm making.
Instead of a hard wood, what if I sent you some soft stone? Soapstone can be worked with files, and standard drill bits. I often use my 4-in-hand
I use soap stone daliy as a welder cool stuff
You have one of the most inspiring channels. I wish I had access to a full woodshop again but for now I'm going to try making some in my apartment. Lol. Thanks for being really entertaining too.
Says it’s not to great, works better than any other lure I have.
I hear the "Banded Clovis" playing in the background. Good choice!
Best vids on TH-cam, “one dayyy”😂😂
Wow that’s a beautiful lure

From working with this wood on boats, I can tell ya that it's a beast. I couldn't imagine carving such a small piece. Pretty work
Love this build. The natural wood made it look like a fine piece of furniture. Kinda made me think of a idea for a lure. How about a surfboard lure?
I could maybe see pulling off a top water walking bait like a Zara Spook with a surfboard.

Are you up for some “bonus fishing” with a lure made by a one-armed bait maker? Because I’m sending one you’re way soon!
Benjamin Todd in the background first 20 seconds, what an incredible channel. The best music taste with the best content.
Should try making a spoon like dare devil out of teak wood.

You truly are my favourite TH-camr
Keep up the great videos.
when I was on the USS Wisconsin, the decks were made of teak! It is an extremely dense and tough wood. Incomming rounds wouldn't affect it much.
@J G the more ya know
YES!! Your videos are my favorite part of the day.

I came just to see what wood you were working with but stayed for the whole video. Quite entertaining and educational.

Great Marling Baits, your creations are always very beautiful and interesting, you are really very good and nice, a greeting from Italy. 😉👍💪👋👋👋
Fun fact : The hardest type of wood is known as morning wood
😑
I almost looked it up to see what it looked like
It’s also the tastiest
Or it could be lignum vitae.. 🤔
