    Just watched the video. If I ever get to the point of having my own crew, that's exactly the atmosphere I would hope to create. Your team is impressive in all aspects.

    Some days are like that. I tell myself if I didn't have problems it would be to easy and I would get bored, not that I believe it.:)
    Really like watching your builds.

    I want to say, that what you do is awesome and that your crew is top-notch. You all get along so well with each other, they are like one big Family and what you create is a work of art in the woods. This is what I would call a very positive work environment. If I were 30 years younger I would move to Maine and hopefully join you and your crew and be able to build these beautiful Timber frame homes. The homeowner's look on her face said it all. I found your channel, and and have been watching them from the beginning when your Dad was younger, he seemed to be the kinda of Father that I wish I had growing up with, I envey you and your sister to have had that growing up. I'm in awe of what you do and how you do it. Keep up the great work and you might see me class someday I would soo much like that happen, Thank you all for what you do I believe your all top-Notch Builders, A+ A+ A+

      We have been with them since '87 and aren't going anywhere........a great company with great people. Mistakes happen-we miscut the rafters on this job (episode 3). We felt that leaving this little bit of reality in the series would be helpful and illustrates how often construction is an exercise in problem solving.

    I really like the work ethic and jovialness that your crew shows. I wanted to mention the "overhang issue" you mentioned. If you had left the wall SIPP where it initially was placed, there would be no thermal bridging through the joint where the roof SIPP and the wall SIPP meet, and then you could have built a more traditional framed portion behind the wall SIPP and would not have to add any expanding foam in the framed out portion (ladder section) that was created. I hope this helps, either on this project or the next time this situation arises. I think y'all are doing great work. Thank you for showing the process y'all go through to build the Timber Framed SIPP home. I love the idea. This should be a very strong structure for many decades to come.

    Often when you have to build an overhang on one panel and you have another panel that has an overhang and shouldn’t, you would have had to switch them during installation.

      @leozmaxwelljilliumz3360 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There wasnt SIP panels way back when. And good old fashion brute force, block and tackle, and lots of helping hands.

    • @ShelterInstitute
      @ShelterInstitute  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Much slower and at a smaller scale.

    • @seakadventurer1330
      @seakadventurer1330 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@leozmaxwelljilliumz3360 you could do a similar assembly by using 2 layers of 4" foam one ran horizontally and one ran vertically sandwiched between sheet goods or over cardecking then roofed. Obviously then your are assembling 1 peice at a time and about 10-16 prices would equal a panel.

    I don't think that panel is wide enough. You need a panel stretcher.

    Genius! I was wondering how you did the Gypsum on the roof. Question? Would that process work with a ship lap wood ceiling also? Forgive me for my old USMC language but it really applies to your Joinery on the slips...they're tight as a Frogs Ass!

    I have a basic question, why is gypsum board necessary between the osb and the interior?

    • @mrbassnotes
      @mrbassnotes ปีที่แล้ว

      The gypsum board (drywall) is the finish material visible on the interior. Without it, you'd have OSB in your living space.

    This video is a perfect advertisement AGAINST buying sip panels. I appreciate the awareness of the potential for poor design and a deliverable ... great job as a builder fixing all their mistakes!
    The way the sip provider designed those "no overhangs" is the worst aesthetically and practically as well. If I were this owner, I'd demand a complete refund. I wish I knew who you were working with so I could avoid this company. The quality control seems non-existent from both a design and construction perspective! It's like the cad model wasn't even reviewed prior to sending everything to the production floor.
