Thank you very much for watching 🤗
An incredible piece. Thank you for including the catch, your reaction, and the correction. You make it real for all your viewers. Great job.
Glad you like it 😀 thank you very much for watching
It’s apparent that you enjoy teaching your craft! You should be proud because you are very good at teaching. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and the many videos!😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you very much
I’ve been using my scrapers more as I watch your videos. I think I was a little afraid of them. Now as I learn more about them and how to use them I can trust more. Thank you.
In the past, I always thought that scraper was for beginners. Now I love them too.
Proper tehnique with scrapers are such a joy.... And finish on wood is no match....glad to hear more people use them☺️
It’s a queue, I’m afraid of
Muy bonito saludos de Colotlán Jalisco México
OK, where do I begin.....The video was really well done. Great camera work. I love the design of your tray. I was going to do my handles that way but didn't.....I regret not doing that. The overall design is very stylish and I would say elegant... Over all Well done
Looking forward to the next project. Sam
Thanks Sam, appriciate that... Love you tray and honesty I did have in mind to make separate handles, but it went well and all 4 made really nice trays....
I truly appreciate you haven’t cut the mistake from the video, so we can learn better. I surely need to learn a huge lot. Thanks for sharing this project.
Thank you, glad you like it ☺️
I don't always like beads, but this time in my opinion they work very well; it's a very nice tray. I'm glad you don't edit out catches or times when things don't look as good as you expected. It shows what to be careful of, how to recover, and it probably helps people not feel discouraged when these things happen because even the best turners have problems now and then. I like being reminded to be consider how grain orientation affects strength when strength matters. And finally, I like watching you start out with an overall idea but let the piece evolve as you work and interact with the wood.
Perfectly said! He is genuine and it shows. One of my favorites, as a new turner, to watch & learn from.
Thank you very much for such a great words and support.... I'll do my best to show more of the stuff that makes us humans😅.... Thank you for support
Thank you very much 🤗
As a long time turner, I’m still amazed how shallow a mortise can be and still hold in the expanded chuck jaws.
Indeed, uff I hold something the other day, that I need it to do in a hurry on just a little ridge, less then 1mm.... But ofcourse for big stuff there is bigger recess involved... Thank you very much for watching
Enjoyed seeing and hearing the creative process getting merged with technical understanding.
Glad you enjoy it and get something out of it ☺️ Thats the point of 4ways videos 😀
I hated seeing you gouge your piece. But it did my heart good to see even the experts mess up sometimes. And I’m not the only one that does it.
Happens to all of us, with years you just practice how to deal with it and how to avoid being hurt😅
It was thoroughly engaging watching the tray materialise from within that blank. There was tension too with the catch and the refining of the handle bead and the base thickness. Thanks for sharing.
Thank You for watching sir
Wow Tomislav another great job! Your skill is truly inspiring. Ive been woodworking since the late 1980's since Norm Abrams had the New Yankee workshop and all those power tools. Later on I got into hand tools inspired by Paul Sellers. Now I turning wood inspired by you and Richard among others. Woodturning give me the best of both worlds. The lathe supplies the power the tools provided your hands with the ability to acquire the skills. You Richard Mike and Same are a great educational resource with these four ways projects. Please keep up the excellent work.
Thank you soo much for words of support and just to add, once TH-cam started 15insh years ago I found several episodes of Norm...I really like his approch in this old house as well.... Funny enough when I start to learn my trade in woodworking as well Paul and Norm were someone I enjoy watching....
Thank you very much once again....
I like the design elements you add. They take the piece to another level. I wish it could have been a little larger. The larger diameter adds a level of complexity to the challenge.
Thank you, well me too but didn't have anything that Will fit.... Maybe next time
Turning round on this mighty spin

Thanks for sharing your expertise!
Thank you very much for support and donations...I really appriciate that sir
Beautiful! The beads make it very dimensional.
Tomislav, You win! I looked at all 4 videos yours is the best design plus your skill level is second to none.
Ohh Thank you sir... We all win , for bigger picture, to help out viewers on there woodturning journey.... Thank you for watching
Very nice design Tomislav! Great idea with the handles on the tray. Thanks for showing that the Masters can mess up as we all do!
Take care, Dave
Thank you Dave very much 🤗
Very nice work,great video!👍🏻
very nice tray Tomislav. Nice family heirloom for some lucky person.
Thank you, I think this one will stay in my family ☺️
Very nice project and a credit to you .
A joy to watch you at work and explaining why and what you’re doing. It also nice to know you human with that catch😮😅 cheers
Ohh I'm human, I make my share of mistakes 😉 Thank you very much for watching
Great job. So much value in your videos. You’re a natural born teacher. On top of that, the very few mistakes you make, allow me to truly realize that even the masters have an occasional catch. Your videos and efforts are much appreciated. Thank you.
No worries, I make quite a bit of mistakes, but I tent to see them as design opportunity like in this video.... Thank you for very kind words of support 🤗
Luxus… a dík za ukázku chyby. Hodně to pomáhá.
Great design. Love the handles. Excellent finish. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and remember, as the the wood goes around, the face shield comes down.🙂🙂
Thank you sir.... Stay safe☺️
love the design and how it grew out of what timber you had available. You show us also how to manage the inevitable catches we all experience from time to time. Brilliant as always
Tony
Thank you Tony very much 🤗
Nice work Tomislav and as informative as ever. Much appreciated
Thank you very much 🤗
thanks for your instructions, I am only in this hobby for 3 years, someday i will get better with folks like you to inspire me !!!
Thank you, just keep practice and thats pretty much to it.... Thank you for watching
I like that one a lot, Tomislav. You have a gift, sir.
Thank you sir..I appriciate that ☺️
Beautiful platter, Tomislav! Thank you for walking us through your design process and how you made your catch disappear without affecting the overall design of the platter. Well done!
Thank you sir🤗
Excellent result, Tomislav! The form is excellent and you included so many nice details. I'm especially impressed by the bead on the handles.
I had just received my first real quality gouge, and sharpened it up. Brand new batch of the best 200mm-300mm x 50mm maple blanks I had yet to have. On my first of the 300mm blanks I made a perfect mortise and satisfactory outside. I was making one final pass on the inside of my first 300mm platter when I learned the hard way that I needed to bring the wings of the gouge down. When the unsupported wing caught the undercut rim on the interior that catch blew out the side. The mortise was fine, for those who said I shouldn't use them (I don't often, but this was two years ago). That platter is still waiting to become a fountain in the garden, since the one side is ready for the water to pour right out. :)
Sorry to hear that, hopefully you were not injured?
Those Wings if not carefull can be fatal....
Thank you very much for watching and support what we do
Wow, Maestro of the lathe! So fun to watch!
😅 thank you sir 😀
Really nicely done, appreciate that even “the best” get a catch occasionally! Thanks for the inspiration as always! Stay safe.
Thank you, believe me I do get them quite a bit....but thats part of the work
Very nice the design is really great. I love your 4 group videos every month. Thank you.
Thank you for watching and support what we do 😀
Beautiful and a very unique design with the handles! Making the most of the blank you had to work with. I thoroughly enjoy your videos and have learned so much from you. Thank you for passing on your knowledge and expertise.
Thank you for watching and those kind words of support....
Very impressive work. You’re an extremely talented turner. Thank you for sharing this.
Thank you very much 😀
Beautiful timber and a great final shape
Thank you 😀
Beautiful work as always. I seldom do flat bottoms but I have experimented with using a scraper with a vise grip set to the desired depth, as a stop, after setting my tool rest square to the axis of the lathe. It works well and I think I may continue using this method. Eliminates much of the waves and stopping to check for flat. Have you ever tried anything similar? I use a thin block of wood as the stop so there’s no metal to metal on the tool rest. Thanks again for sharing your experience with us. Off to Richard Mike and Sam’s videos. One of the highlights of my month. Take care Scott
Thank you Scott, I have not try it, but sounds like a good method and if that works for you then continue to use it, I find this faster but that is beauty of woodturning, we all have different ways to accomplish same tasks.
I like those wing handles. Nice use of the material you had.
Thank You Randy, glad you liked it 🤗
Nice desgn with those handles. Well done.
Thank you 👍
Beatiful tray even a great treatment from the catch, nice to see the best have opps to, but great recovery thanks
Thank you very much for watching 😀 glad you enjoy it 🤗
Really beautiful platter. That catch may have stopped some people, but you just adjusted and carried on. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you 😀, its part of the job , sometimes catches happen😉
I got real close to making a plate but I knocked it off the table and it split in half grrrrr. Love the 4 ways videos.
Sorry to hear that but great thing is you can make another one better.... We all start from beggining and we all been there.... So just don't give up and practice ☺️
Beautiful piece. Love how you incorporated the limitations of the wood into your design.
Glad you liked it 🤗 thank you for watching
Tomislav that is a beautiful piece. It is nice to know that the masters still make mistakes too. Great recovery. Whenever I turn anything with wings I mark my tool rest is I remember to keep out of danger zone.
Thank you, ohh we all make mistakes, its part of our work and trade ☺️
Love the details you added and the handles. They really make the piece special.
Glad you liked it 🤗 thank you for watching 🤗
Great piece. Love how it turned out. Kudos.
Hello Tomislav, once again a great video of you. Thanks for the beautiful project. And it‘s very reassuring to see that even a profi has a small smishap. Greatings from Germany.
Thank you, I have mishaps quite often, they are part of the trade.... Thank you for watching 🤗
Thank you for sharing your talent and creative process with us. I'm learning a lot from watching your videos. Beautiful platter!
Thank you for watching 🤗
And comment...I appriciate that ☺️
New to your channel. Love how you explain the entire time what you are doing how and why you are doing it. Its a beautiful platter.
Thank you for watching and support what I do
This tray is beautiful Tomislav. Love the detail with the beads.
Thank you sir
Like the way you approached this tray.
You certainly do use scrapers a lot, a tool which wasn’t used much a while ago and even frowned upon its use.
I agree with you that it’s a pity the tray wasn’t bigger diameter. Thanks tomislav.
Thank you very much for watching 🤗 indeed I use them a lot as they are so versitile and with proper tehnique it can give such a beautiful surface
That’s beautiful. Really pleased I found your channel. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you very much
That turned out very nicely. The walnut is really nicely figured and I really like how you made the handles, that really makes the piece stand out. I really like how you made the beads on the handles and their shapes; that has really sparked some ideas for things to try.
Thank you, glad you liked it and it was fun to make ☺️
Nice one tomaslav, well explained
Your touch is very good. I'm truly impressed.
Thank you sir
Beautiful job very entertaining to watch you work your skills

Wery nice work and wery informational. Your English is wery good!
Thank you Peter, I try my best on english😃
You really are a Master Craftsman, well done...!
Thank you, I try my best☺️
That tray came out great. I like the way you design on the fly. I kinda do the same. I have a general idea what I'm going for, then all bets are off.
Thank you, I love to when I have a freedom to design like that😉
Superb piece, a challenge for the less experienced. Greetings from Tasmania Australia.👍😁🇦🇺🦘
Thank you very much
Well sometimes in a funny way it makes me feel better to see others make a mistake as well. But lovely job and again I love these 4 way projects. Best wishes to you and yours for the Christmas season
Thank you sir, wish all the best to you and family as well 😀
This is one very beautiful tray. I have enjoyed seeing this video. I especially like the handles. They're large enough to get a good grip yet not so big as to detract from the beauty of it.
Thank you very much, glad you liked it and thank you for support 4ways
You are truly an artist at the lathe. Liked and subscribed.
Thank you soo much 🤗
Nicely done. Thanks for the video. 👍👍

Really like the bead on the edge of the handles, it really makes the piece

Beautiful! Great idea adding the handles. I may try to make something similar one of these days.
Go for it, its fun but be aware of handles flighing around
I really like your work! Nice detail. Great technique!
Thank you very much
A very beautiful tray Tomislav.

I love your work. My first lathe arrives very soon and I know that I will be trying to use your lessons and designs once I get started turning. I really appreciate all you do here for us.
Thank you very much 🤗 aaaaww you'll enjoy at the lathe, I'm happy for you as its such a great craft to know....
Little spoiler alert, I might get something similar soon😉(can't tell more)😂
How exciting! I look forward to finding out more.@@tomislavtomasicwoodturning

Go for it 😀 its fun but be aware of handles flighing around
Very nice. Thanks for sharing.
A real masterpiece. Thanks
Thank you very much
That is a lovely tray and a lovely design and a very nice figure in the wood. Good recovery on the catch, not that I expect any less. But you really need to invest in some stripey socks. ;-) Thanks for another excellent video.
Thanks Joris, Most definitively stripe socks for Christmas special😅
Lovely!
Beautiful as usual. Love your work. Mesa AZ USA
Thank you very much 🤗
Beautiful tray! Looks like your walnut is a bit lighter than our walnut in Iowa or Minnesota but looks very nice!
Thank you, its sort of european walnut, commercial name , less dark then English walnut....
Very nice job and it gives me all kinds of ideas. Thanks 😊

Thank you for watching

Big Catch. Good on water; bad on lathe. 😉 Very nice design!
Indeed, but it happens😉thanks for watching
I meant no disrespect. It was just a weak attempt at humor. 🙂@@tomislavtomasicwoodturning
@@michaelogden5958 ohh no problem, I haven't think of it as a bad thing, no worries 😅
