Agreed!!! I was so hesitant to try this, and I only did because there was such a steal of a deal on pork steak recently I had nothing to lose. Every time i've been served pork steak in the past it's been bbq'd and grilled and always dry chewy and leathery. THIS WAS SOOOOOOO GOOOD. Savory. Delicous. Melt in your mouth tender. I had no idea pork steaks had such potential.
Lol. Yes pork shoulder blade steaks are amazing, a flavorful and tender cut of pork. I buy them every week now. They are a must on my weekly grocery list. Fortunately, they are still very affordable 😊
Soaking your pork in a salt water solution is called brining and not really a process for cleaning so much as adding flavor to the meat. There is a legit cellular change that takes place during this process. I do highly recommend it but not because of any special cleaning. It will simply result in juicer, more flavorful meat. Though I’d say soak for 30 min. Good recipe, I enjoyed it.
This recipe is now a favorite in my household. I’m a Foster Mom and when my kids either age out or move on to more permanent placements, I put together a little hand written cook book with some of their favorite meals in it, as well as words of encouragement. That way they have that connection and can continue to create fond memories at their own supper tables. We usually go over what recipes they want in their book and this has, hands down, been their first request. Thank you for sharing your amazing recipes with us. I can tell you with certainty that your soul food is healing the souls of the kids that pass through our home, as this isn’t the only recipe we’ve fallen in love with. ❤️🍛🥩🍽😍
Such a beautiful story. That is so nice of you to provIde them with not only a memory of you but a guide to a essential part of adult life, cooking. Im sure they appreciate it so much
This was so good. I usually bake mine with barbecue sauce but I love the herb seasoning and the lemon just pulled it all together. It was easy to make and it came out really tender and flavorful. This went great with Bake Parmesan red potatoes and mix vegetables.
Do you get a similar result as far as tenderness when you bbq yours in the oven? I loved these, and I do like the idea of bbq, but any time someone has put a bbq'd pork steak in front of me it's been a chewy slab of leather that i'm flossing out of my teeth for days. I can see myself maybe baking them like this and then at the very end putting some bbq on and maybe under the broiler for like 5 mins or so.
Mouth watering recipes from start to finish, very informative as well, you just can’t get enough of her, awesome recipes. This needs to go viral for the New Years, let’s go y’all 😘🌹 HAPPY NEW YEAR’S 🎉
Tried this recipe but with bone-in pork chops and OMG they turned out so well. They were well seasoned and the gravy from the meat was fantastic! I used a little bit of tenderizer because bone-in chops tend to be chewy without it and I used an already made Italian seasoning. This will be my go to from now on when I make pork chops. Great recipe!
I know I am waaaayyyy behind on this, but I just saw this video. Some people do not consider Virginia to be the "South", but that is where my family is from. My Big Mama, resting in Paradise now, taught all of us to soak all pork in Apple Cider Vinegar (no salt) before cooking. That is what I saw her do, my Mom and all aunts and uncles do. After soaking, you do see the "impurities" in the water. We pour that off and give it a good "gentle scurb rinse." We experiment with different seasoning, but it is always tender and delicious!
I just made mine and it came out so good thanks to you. My pork steaks came out tender and even butter knife tender. Thank you and the flavor was on point. I love your channel
Just subscribed. Love southern cooking. Grew up in Kentucky, never really paid attention to how my parents/grandparents prepared my favorite meals. Now I cook for my wife and myself and wish I had those good ole southern recipes again. Your channel has quite a few of these and I look forward to finding even more, plus any new dishes I may have overlooked. :)
Tammy I made this tonight and it was sooo delicious! I’ve made your shrimp quesadillas, your chicken quesadillas, and your turkey wings, My cooking has definitely leveled up thanks to you and your simple but delicious recipes! Gonna be making your shrimp stuffed crab cakes next! Thank you! ❤️
Thank you Tammy! I just started following you a few months back and you've taught me how to make Apple Cinnamon pumpkin spice French toast and this, and tomorrow going to attempt the turkey. So far everything has been great, can't wait to try more of your recipes, and Happy New Years to you too.
You should have a show on the Food Network. I’m not a natural cook so I get anxiety sometimes cooking meat. I always have. I can follow your recipes though. I feel like even people who aren’t good cooks can watch your videos and make great meals.
I’m glad you came out with this recipe bc “somebody” wanted to buy an entire hog 🤦🏻♀️ and I had no idea what to do with this pork steaks 🥩..... guess we’ll be making these for Sunday dinner
We has a family tonight made your southern fried cabbage today. Just to tell you we had fun preparing it and all loved it. Im a pig farmer love pork but we have fresh pork all the time
OMG these are my favorite pork steaks ever. They are now one of my favorite things to make. I could eat them twice a week or more if it were just me. Need to try your other recipes too. Thank you so so much.
I've been following you here for awhile now. However, this is the first recipe of yours that I've tried. When I tell you, this was AAHMAZING, it really was. My husband and my oldest son DO NOT eat pork. The aroma itself and the way it was looked had them wishing that they ate pork 😂😂🤣🤣. However, myself, my sister and my youngest son tore it up. It was so flavorful, juicy and tender. It paired very well with a plain baked potato with the juice from the meat. I am scrolling through your recipes to see what I can make for my husband son since they missed out 😂😂😂😂. Keep doing what you are doing, you are an AMAZING CHEF.
Thank you so much I haven't cooked pork in a long time and needed a definite refresher and I always love that I can go straight to you for great ideas and recipes
A Google search for a pork steak recipe lead me to this one and husband and I both agree this is the BEST pork steak I've ever made. ALMOST left out the lemon juice because I thought it was weird, but so glad I didn't. 💖
Today I’m making this dish for the 2nd time! This is absolutely the bomb!!!! My sister was in heaven, said it was one of the best things she ever ate! So thank you for taking the time out and sharing. Have a wonderful day😊
Tammy that looks so good. I dont eat pork. Can I do the same thing for any steaks? Or will I need to alter the recipe in some way? If so what? Will be looking for a reply. Thanks!
This is the best recipe ive ever gotten from the Internet. Period.
Thanks Christina💯💥

How a huge pack of them for $9
Oh Tammy! Don't tell them about the pork steaks... Now the price is gonna go up like lobster!!!
Right! Just like chicken wings
And it did 😭
Nah, I got a 4 pack for 5 6 dollars the other day. The salad dressings what blew my mind. 5 dollars for ranch dressing.

Cheaper at foodland just bought 3 for $4.53. I always catch their deals.❤to see people save.
