Should I pullout the plants , let the bulb sit , cut the foliage or not , cut the roots or not , when to replant in the pots etc etc. I am in Bangalore . Can we use this technique for any sort of bulbs I mean for gladiolus and asiatic or only for amarlilly pl reply
    Tq

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @sireesha venkata V, Can be done with all the bulbs but would be difficult with few. For example - Gladiolus, Asiatic all bloom only after vegetative growth. So, if we want them to grow in water, we would need to grow them in hydroponic way. But bulbs like Amaryllies, Football lily bloom before and then start producing leaves an all (vegetative growth). During the initial time, they just need water to bloom as buds already remains inside from previous year :-) Hope, you got my point :-) Thank you for watching :-)

      @Axia Aaaa, Congrats on getting a new plant :-) During blooming time, you can water when top 1 inch soil is dry. Please avoid watering too much as they don't need lots of water. Also, during the blooming time, plz try to save from too much direct sunlight. The flower might wilt very soon. I would appreciate if you don't call me sir, just a request :-) Thank you :-)

    I have amaryllis plant with only leaves in my garden can i dig one of them and do this process, and why did you trim the roots before putting in bottle with water?

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @rohit agarwal, Since your bulb produced the leaves first, it's not matured enough and it would bloom only next year. So, no need to dig up the bulb and follow this process. After digging up the bulbs, I kept them idle for few days. Normally, whenever we dig up any bulbs, it's better to trim the roots. So, practically saying, I didn't trim the roots before putting in the bottle with water. I trimmed it few days back at the time of digging up. Hope, you got it :-)

    Propegating in water,wao 👍👏
    I divided my one plant to five by vertical cut dividing with a big knife, will they grow and flower too Or gone waste, Actually this showed two flowers about 3/4 yrs back,so divided
    My regards 🌹🙏

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @SN Tandon, Namaskar Sir :-)
      Actually, we shouldn't cut the bulb vertically as this might damage the buds. Most of the bulbs produce their buds inside the bulb and as soon as we plant them, they bloom. Honestly saying, don't have too much hope for those bulbs..but still you can plant them and hope it starts to grow.
      If you want to divide, plz divide the babies..One mother bulb produces many babies and those babies can be separated easily. For example - The bulb which I planted on the plastic bottle (first one), there are 2 babies - one on left and another one right. Those 2 can be easily separated and planted. You won't need to cut as well, we can pull them apart very easily. Thank you very much for watching the video :-)
