Fun fact: In the novel, inspired to the movie, when Kevin recognized Harry by his golden tooth he thought that him and Marv are 2 undercover cops who are following him to arrest him.
@@SnowyWolborgI mean, that does track a bit more than thinking they are some nefarious criminals. Last time he saw that gold tooth was in some cop checking in with the family. And he was just chased by a cop for shoplifting a toothbrush and genuinely called *himself* a criminal. Now I can't help but imagine a weird world where Kevin, overwhelmed with guilt over his pilfered toothbrush, turns himself in to Harry to be arrested for his crimes and how Harry and Marv would even react to that.
Bit of Christmas trivia: The carrots that Kevin left out with the Milk and Cookies weren't for Santa but for Santa's reindeer which is an old tradition just like leaving Milk and Cookies.
This movie is a masterpiece! Kevin and his traps will forever be icons of the Holiday season. And Harry and Marv are hilarious. Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals.
4:26-7:00 Fun fact.Maculay Culkin got to host Saturday Night Live when he was younger, 11 years old. The entire cast, including Maculay himself basically just recreated the pizza scene, and the part where Kevin was sent to his room.
31:18 Fun Fact: Originally there was a concept for a post credits scene for this movie, sources from the films script. that would have been a comical punchline to this scene. The scene is with Harry and Marv in prison beaten and brusied in their prison blues. Them and several inmates were watching this movie and this scene plays out (29:59) that reveals the name "Snakes" The scene ends with Harry and Marv looking at each other in shock.
Doordash driver here. I've heard so many fights happening behind the door as I deliver. Honestly, I'm kind of glad that I interrupt the madness with food.
What's funny about this movie is i never watched it as a kid but later on as an adult it ended up becoming one of my favorite movies along with the sequel. "Keep the change you filthy animal."
Fun fact the actor who plays bed wetter cousin Fuller is actually the brother to Kevin's actor Edit: also it's more than just miscount something else happening is the milk spilled on the tickets which Kevin's got thrown in the trash by mistake
I dont know if anyone said it, but when Chris Columbus made this movie, he was asked who he wanted to do the music. He said something like "I always wanted John Williams doing a christmas movie, but i cant pay him" Someone of the prodution staff (to this is day, its unknown who it was) sent the script and Columbus statement to John Williams. He looked at the script and called Columbus, saying "I ll do it, for free!"
Something that you don't pick up on most people don't it's a conversation about who ordered the pizzas. It was buzz and I can almost guarantee he ordered only one cheese pizza on purpose to piss off Kevin
Another fun fact: like the alums for SNL cast members would be in each others movies from time to time John Candy and Catherine O'Hara worked on SCTV the Canadian version of SNL with Eugene Levy ( the dad in American Pie series of movies ) and Joe Flarity ( the obnoxious guy in Happy Gilmore - the guy who kept saying jack ass ) cool rewatch one of many on my holiday rewatch list or anytime i want a good laugh :)
That picture of Buzz' girlfriend was actually a picture of a boy wearing a wig. Director Chris Columbus felt it would me mean to cast a real girl in the part just to make fun of her. The boy was the art director's son. The pages of the Playboy magazine were taped together so Macaulay Culkin did not really see any nudity. The colors red and green show up in almost every scene- on furniture, clothing, wall paper and gift wrapping paper. Daniel Stern (Marv) once said that having to hit Joe Pesci with the crowbar was a lot scarier than having the tarantula on his face.
Fun Facts: The scene where the bandits almost hit Kevin with their van was actually filmed in reverse. For Culkin's safety, they started with him screaming directly at the van and then they had the van reverse away from him. Then, they took that footage of the van driving and played it in reverse so it would look like it was driving towards him without running the risk of them actually hitting him on accident. The fear when Kevin put the tarantula on Marv was 100% real. They told Stern that they were going to be using a fake spider since the actor didn't like them. But they instead, swapped out the fake for a real one before the shoot. As badly as Stern wanted to scream in actual fear, he had to do the scene in silence in order to not frighten the tarantula and risk getting bitten. After the shoot, Stern came in the following day and recorded the actual scream in a sound booth and it was added to the scene in post.
It is so sweet to see John Candy and Macaulay were reunited in this after Uncle Buck. Even though they weren't in a scene, close enough. Also the funeral story by Candy was completely improvised, which makes it even more hilarious. Marv's spider death scream is legit. He had arachnophobia. The greatest crime in this movie certainly...is that Kevin didn't even get to eat his Macaroni and Cheese.. He is most known for this but also great in other films. "The Good Son" and "My Girl" I highly recommend. "What, now?" "No tomorrow ya egghead yeah now!" 😂
Fun story: We watched this movie for the very first time in our lives. And when it came to the booby trap scene, my mom said she was laughing SO HARD that she thought she was going to *pee* her pants! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
One of my favorite Christmas movies. LOL on Marv's screams, so over-the-top, and Joe Pesci managing not to curse, as he'd been in Goodfellas a year earlier.
Two things: 1-both this movie and Goodfellas came out in 1990. 2-Pesci couldn't refrain from 🤬ing on set. The crew put out a swear jar for all the adults in the cast. J.P. singlehandedly filled it up the first day. 🤣🤣🤣
My parents would place raisins & cheerios on the sidewalks for the reindeer since deer lived in our area so it was more convincing especially if they left deer tracks
Home Alone and 2 will forever be my Childhood movies, but it made me Learn something. Christmas is the time, to spend time with Family, and enjoy and having fun and laughs and being happy, always Life can be grateful at its Peak. and always Believe, that you have a WONDERFUL day and a Merry Christmas to all and to you two Timothee
@Timotheereacta funfact the actress that plays Kevin’s mom has said that she hated saying “ then say it again maybe it will come true” cause she is also a mother and she would never say that to her kids.
We're in agreement about the stunt doubles. I always wondered how Pesci's double took that back flip down the stairs without literally breaking his neck. Also, he was watching a color tv, but black and white movies. And the carrots were for the reindeer.
Home Alone is such a comfy movie, thanks for finally watching it. Home Alone 2 is equally as good as the first Home Alone movie, so I hope you watch that one too.
I’d like to see these two react to Uncle Buck, since Tim was telling Malbread about it during this reaction. It’d be fun to see him showing her the movie he told her about here. Also it’s an excellent movie anyway.
41:26 that always reminds me at Indiana Jones Raider of the lost ark where the gestapo agent Arnold Toth grasped the hot medallion and also burned his hand so hard that it left the symbol of the medallion marked into his hand. The screams of both of them are also similar.
A 1990 Christmas classic! One of my favorite live action childhood movies. I always saw Macaulay Culkin as the older brother I never had. Long before the first two Harry Potter films, director Chris Columbus directed one of the most iconic Christmas comedies: Home Alone!
Something I noticed rewatching the film - In addition to the neighbor kid throwing off the count, Kevin's boarding pass was accidentally thrown away during the mess made at dinner, which contributed to them forgetting Kevin. Looking at the prices •$122.50 for the pizzas = $295.70 today •$11.80 for Kevin's individual pizza = $28.48 •$19.83 for Kevin's groceries = $47.87 (I've seen at some point, it was as high as $72.28) Curse you, Inflation! There's a theory that the parents or at least Mr. McCallister is a mob lawyer. Someone recently told me in a comments section the belief that Mrs. McCallister is a fashion designer. Based on the traps, there's also a theory that Kevin grows up to become Saw. As a kid, the traps are hilarious; as an adult, they're still hilarious, but you start to feel bad for Harry and Marv because some of them are deadly in real life.
all time classic! Me & my cousin did that sled trick at my grandmas house. It also had steps down the porch Was at slight angle, but we managed to steer it safely down both. However we did go bit too far and bumped neighbors car that was parked out front 😳
This movie is definitely an iconic holiday classic. It has very memorable moments, memorable characters, and an amazing score. Personally, I think what really makes this movie great is Macaulay Culkin as Kevin McCallister. I think he acts like any kid would act when his family forgot him at home.
I just suggest that you watch the movie "Home Alone 3" sometime. I think it's also worth watching, even if the characters are different. There are so few reaction videos that include this movie.
Still one of the best Christmas movies ever ❤️❤️ and still so freaking hilarious 🤣🤣 Everything about this movie is perfection from the amazing cast and to the best lines and Kevin who still a genius psychopath👍 Also fun fact: Marv’s reaction to the spider was the actors real reaction to it because he was terrified of spiders. I always enjoy your reaction to this movie and to do it with Malbread makes it even better thanks Tim 😁❤️❤️
The snowsled scene reminds me of the time my cousin had an accident on the stairs and showed me and my brothers what happened over and over, until we started recreating the incident too, just for fun. Luckily, my brothers and I didn't get hurt
Thank you so much for this. These last two Christmases has been hard for me. Seeing this brought back happy memories. I’m glad you enjoyed it! This film was one of my favorite growing up! I must insist that after Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, you check out Home Alone 3; I know it’s a different character, but it’s just as good and hilarious! Also the 6th film Home Sweet Home Alone; it’s unique and pays tribute to the first 2 films and has Buzz in a cameo role. #MerryChristmas 👦🏼👨🏻🦲👨🏻🦱👩🏻🦰👴🏻🎄🏠😱😈 🍕📺🛒🔫🪤🕷❤️💛💙
Awesome that you’re doing a third reaction to this movie! Home Alone is a fantastically entertaining movie. The concept is so simple and yet something that children fantasize about. Such a wholesome family movie especially for Christmas.
The saddest part of this film is realising that the old man knew who Kevin was the whole time. Knowing the family were supposed to be going away and seeing Kevin wandering around, buying groceries alone and shouting in the dark, he kept wanting to see if Kevin needed help but due to his own family traumas and Kevin's reactions, he thought he would scare him to much if he directly confronted Kevin. So he basically had been keeping an eye on him from a distance to keep him safe. 😢
1. John Candy did his part at union rate/FREE for his friend John Hughes RIP both. 😇😇 2. The items in Kevin's bags were not the same as what he had a checkout. 3. Daniel Stern/Marv has arachnophobia. That's why he freaked out. (NOTE: tarantula spiders aren't venomous to humans but look scary). He insisted on only one take. His scream was dubbed in later so not to scare the spider. 4. "Angels with Filthy Souls" is not a real movie. 5. GOOF: Marv has tar all over his foot when he steps on the stairs but when he grabs his foot, and all the other scenes after that no tar. 6. NO WAY could a child get the rope tight enough between the house and treehouse without a winch of some kind. 7. There's ANOTHER NO WAY Kevin could clean up that fast. 8. Home Alone II is good. However, Kevin as good hearted as he is, he gets mean. 9. Macaulay Culkin worked with John Candy (and Hughes) in "Uncle Buck". That's how he got this gig. Great first time/share. HINT HINT
@@williamjones6031 John Candy sure had his wits and humor. It’s unfortunate he passed in 1994. He could’ve done more roles with his range in both comedy and drama.
Interesting info. Daniel Stern, the actor who played Marv, was told that the spider being put on him was fake. Yet it was then switched to a real one and he wasn't informed. So the scream Marv gave off was a legit scream and he wasn't acting.
My wife and I love these movies and a few facts first joe pesci really bit one of macs fingers and left a permanent scar and second when the tarantula is placed on Daniel's face he screamed but it was added later so that it wouldn't scare the spider and 3rd the scene where the car wouldn't start it really didn't and 4th john candy was not given a script and was paid around 500 dollars to be in it
There was an actual stuntman who did the climbing /falling on the shelves stunt. Someone from the prop department actually painted the BB that shot Marv. (And more BTS goodness if you listen to the Macaulay Culkin / Chris Columbus commentary. I wish they'd record a commentary for the second one.

Malbread is too Adorable.🥰
I watch this every year! 🤣
Well there ever be a Christmas film to top Home Alone?
Great Christmas movie
Awesome home alone 🎄
Christmas adventures of Clint Eastwood when he was a little kid.
Interesting info. Daniel Stern, the actor who played Marv, was told that the spider being put on him was fake. Yet it was then switched to a real one and he wasn't informed. So the scream Marv gave off was a legit scream and he wasn't acting.
Hi Tim, home alone 1 and 2 are my favorite Christmas 🎄 movies.
My wife and I love these movies and a few facts first joe pesci really bit one of macs fingers and left a permanent scar and second when the tarantula is placed on Daniel's face he screamed but it was added later so that it wouldn't scare the spider and 3rd the scene where the car wouldn't start it really didn't and 4th john candy was not given a script and was paid around 500 dollars to be in it
We need reactions for all the Home Alones 😂
Home Alone 2 is even better 😊
20:29 that’s interesting
I swear I never heard the heater furnace say hello Kevin
You asked how they filmed the collapsing shelf without hurting the kid. They used a small statured stuntman.
What's funny is what was he gonna cut with the knife, it's mac and cheese
4:01 £122.50 in 1990!? My God today those pizzas would be close to £300 and I'm deliberately counting in £ instead of $ because I'm English
It wasn't a B&W TV silly, it was a B&W movie "Miracle on 34th street" (1947).📺🎅🤣
Home alone and Home alone 2 are the best holiday movie All of Time ❤😊
