I'm from America and just discovered Powderfinger online about 3 1/2 yrs ago, and they have quickly become one of my very favorite bands...AND NOW THEY BROKE UP...I'm heart broken!! They never even had a hit in the USA. I really would love to see the guys come here and blow the charts apart....Why didn't they come here? They have been everywhere else in the world. Still hoping....
In a Brisbane tradition for young blokes me and some mates dug under the temporary fence to break into their last gig at Riverstage (did the same for Megadeth and Foo Fighters about the same time) and security didn't give a shit because it was the LAST Powderfinger gig. Not gonna lie, I cried during "These Days".
I never heard it played on local radio, doesnt mean it wasnt played anywhere else, but it never hit the charts or got big here. Anyone I ask about Powderfinger here, thinks I'm talking about the Neal Young song. I love My Happiness, one of my favorite tunes.
@benrhcpfan DZ is using a '73 (and I mean '73, not a reissue) Fender Telecaster Deluxe. Ian is using a Gibson Les Paul (don't know the specifcs). Overall, DZ often uses teles (or Fenders in general), While Ian prefers Gibsons (both SGs and LPs). However, they mix it up and use different guitars quite frequently. Part of their sound is their amps though, Ian mainly uses Orange products (the band used to appear on Orange's artists roster), while DZ seems to use Vox or Goldentone stuff.
Who knows! A lot of good Aussie rock is totally unknown in the US still. :) You should check out the Hottest 100 Australian Albums Of All time from triple j ... it's probably on the youtubes somewhere.
You may get the chance in summer of 17/18 as I've heard they're getting back together to tour.... All the hype is for the Oils reuniting but looks like powderfinger are also.
Saw this show in Wellington. We were so wrapped Powderfinger were first as Silverchair were woeful and we left during their set. If Silverchair were first, we would have had to suffer through them to get to these guys. Mind you it may have been worth it........
Yea...I know...I love the guy, but I really love to see him with the band....:D Yea...I know...I love the guy, but I really love to see him with the band....:D SO SO GOOD !!!!
@PaladinswordSaurfang its not something i was trying to argue about. its just i dont like how people dont appreciate live music as much as it should. im fine that you may not like the sound, i just hope you appreciate it thats all.

It's an Aussie radio station that plays this kind of music. :) Their hottest 100 for each year basically shows the best... you can stick to the top 20 if it's too much.

Its a custom les paul
@PaladinswordSaurfang well you dont appreciate real music. and how you can only be named a real musician if you perform live at top level.
Hahaha, that's OK. Comment away! He didn't you're right. It's because he's the bassist, no one cares about them, poor bass players. :p
Lacklustre ending.
Because in America right now they have the wrong skin color, and sing the wrong genre
