    Bit of XK8 trivia that I only discovered this week. The dashboard is shaped to resemble the elliptical wing of the Spitfire because the XK8 was made in the same factory where they manufactured the Spit during WW2. Nice reference point!

    I own a USA 2003 XK8 4.2 Convertible. Silver exterior, white interior and black top. 83,000 miles. Garaged and not driven in the winter snow so no rust. Like new still.
    Love the car! : )

    Just had my xkr Respray and it’s beautiful and I’ve had it 10 yrs only had general motoring issues, please keep your eye on your battery it runs everything in the even when parked up so it has to be driven, the xkr has loads of upgrades compared to the xk8

    Great review but noting the 3 clocks in the centre can still be f0und in the Mk2’s right up until the end of production so long as Sat Nav was not selected as an option….👍

    Wow what a beautiful car I do think those clear indicators and painted reflectors make that car just a bit more special to look at and I wish I could drive one!!!

      Thanks very much. I used to have that white 72 Daimler. But it was so unreliable that I changed it for a Modern classic. Many said i was mad, but to be honest the XK8 was always a dream car of mine. And I got enough for the Daimler to get this one. But they are going up in value every year now. So if I didn't get one now I never would as they would be out of my reach. They are cracking cars. And same price as a say 60 plate 3 Series or even nice Mondeo.

    I had one of these. Left it out in the damp and it died. Then had a boxster, then a e46M3, and I've now just bought another xk8! Something special that the Germans don't offer. Boxster 986 I'd try again but as a toy, it's great fun

    4 cam chain tensioners actually, not 3 as stated. 2x primary and 2x secondary 2x tensioner rails and 2x guide rails

      Yeah. Don't think it will ever age badly. Like you say, still look good 25 years on.

    Very nice. Keep thinking about XK but two kids makes it impractical. Have to suffer with the XJ for now. Lol.

    • @NorfolkMancave
      @NorfolkMancave  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ow the XJ are nice mate. I have had a few. A 72 Daimler Sovereign 4.2. A Series 3 4.2. And 1990 XJ40 4.0 and a X300. All were great cars. Loved them. Had a 3.0 S type but was not a fan as it looked to much like a Rover 75. Lol. I have always been a Jag man to be honest. All have been at least 15 years old tho as could never afford a newer one lol..
      But this XK is just so different. Pretty goes without saying. But it's totally Jag inside, but like a Xj With attitude lol..
      Yes back seats are useless to be honest. Pretty much got to treat these as a 2 seater.
      Thanks for watching.

      @@NorfolkMancave I had an X300 which was my first and favourite. Then an S-type 4.2 which grew on me. Now have the X350 Vanden Plas, nice motor. Always get comments on them. A lot of people really have a soft spot for Jags. One thing that is VERY important is heated seats! But I am in Canada, so that is a must. Keep up the good work, really enjoy your videos.

      @benpenagonzales6014 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The later 4.2 engine is the same but actually slightly better. The 4.0 is solid but check water pump, and oil leaks. Forget nikasil issues

  • @theodavies8754
    @theodavies8754 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice enough, I'll stick with my S type 4.0 thanks,no sunroof is a deal breaker. each to their own.

    • @NorfolkMancave
      @NorfolkMancave  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm afraid I'm one of these sad people who likes it quite. So if I had a sunroof I would never use it. I never even have windows open. 22 degrees and fan speed 2 is just perfect. Let the climate do its thing. S type more practical. But only me and the Mrs so a 2 seater is fine for us.

    Is it only 4.0 engine has issue or 4.2 as well ?

    • @NorfolkMancave
      @NorfolkMancave  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes pretty much mate. The 4.2 had metal tensioners. But all the series 1 cars were 4.0. The 4.0 engine changes in 99 to a more electronic engine with less vacuum operated stuff.

    • @benpenagonzales6014
      @benpenagonzales6014 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@nafizhaq4554 the 4.2 is a bit better. And comes with 6 speed auto. For 4.0, Check for cam guides, water pump, and the 4.0 leaks oil in my experience. Otherwise solid as. And gearbox does need servicing, quick filter and oil change

    Ford saved Jaguar- End Of. Build quality prior to Ford taking over was, let's be kind, ABYSMAL! Build quality improved significantly under Ford, so all the sniping about using Ford switches and ignition keys is nonsense. For example, Ford got rid of the antiquated in-board rear discs on the XJS- something BL/Jaguar ought to have done many years previously.
    Good video- BUT BOTH HANDS ON THE STEERING WHEEL AT ALL TIMES - unless changing gear! One handed steering results in course steering in the event of a sudden emergency/incident that causes to you swerve. It would be a shame to prang your Jaaag for the want of having both hands on the wheel! ;)
    I'm off to test drive a silver 4.2 today!! :)
