Hei, i hope that the recovery is going well. I had my ACL reconstructed 5 month ago so I am just a little bit ahead of you. It feels so good that I can compare my progress to yours, because this is such a hard and frustrating recovery. My optimism is like a rollercoaster haha. I also have some pain when a do those 1 leg exercises which I hate, but slowly im getting stronger or at least I hope .I wish you an easy recovery !
Thank you so much! Yes, it is so helpful to see others who are also going through the same process. Sometimes the pain gets bad, and other times I almost feel normal. But overall, the process is going pretty well. I'm pleased with the general outcome so far (though impatient because sometimes it goes more slowly than I would like). I appreciate the support and hope that my videos can help you as well. I am considering doing some new footage of specific exercises that I am starting to do, showing my overall function, etc., so maybe I will post something on that soon.
@@JudoGeoff Thank you for the feedback ! I hope we can fully recover from this unfortunate injury so we can go back to our beloved sport (snowboarding in my case). New footage of your specific exercises would be awsome ! Stay safe !
I will definitely try to get some exercises uploaded, though I won't be able to do everything, since I don't have all of the equipment that they have at the physical therapy clinic. I can also try to share some of the more "conventional" exercises that I am doing at the gym now, too (e.g. leg presses, curls, extensions, squats, etc.)
Quick question!!! I was on a torn ACL and both sides of meniscus for 5 months. I was used to locking up and having to force pop it back to full extension. I finally got surgery and they were also able to stich up my meniscus... it's been 3 months since surgery... I been walking squating and felt like I was doing so good! And my knee just locked again...like not locked in flexion but it was unable to full extend.. I had to force it down and BOOM loudest pop ever... not really too painful just scary... anything like that happen to you?
Yikes, that's intense. Hmm. I haven't really had any locking in place happen, but I also didn't have a meniscus tear or anything else that might normally be associated with locking. I did have a couple of incidents a couple of months back where this knee popped after some pressure seemed to build up over the course of a few days, and it hurt for about half a day after, but there were no obvious long-term effects. That seemed to be a result of slowly regaining normal function and causing fluid to start moving around more after the post-surgery inactivity allowed it to settle in there for a while. Not sure if that makes sense. At any rate, I didn't have the exact thing that you describe happen, but I *can* identify with having a joint pop or otherwise kind of "self-manipulate" and cause a scare. It's happened a handful of times over the years, and twice with the knee since surgery.
While you should absolutely work with your physician and care team (if you have one) to make sure that things are all under control, I'd say that consistency is your friend. Getting up and around (as tolerated) and working on ROM pretty frequently should eventually yield results, even if you seem "stuck" for a while. Progress isn't always linear. I would sometimes be surprised where one day I'd suddenly seem to have more range or stability after not noticing much change for weeks. I'm about 15 months post-surgery and still making progress.
is this a common judo injury? I guess from the comment section; Yes;P considering beginning but the only one I know who does Judo (currently 4th dan) has had some issues with this
ACL tears are fairly common, yes. Not everyone will have one, and you can certainly take measures to limit the chances of getting one, but any such sport carries risk of such injuries. I know many judo and BJJ practitioners who have had ACL issues.
Good video, good luck on the recovery. I got acl surgery 29 days ago, I am making some progress

Are you okay now?
I’m 4 months post op struggling with swelling and the end range of hyper extension any tips ??
