OHMYGOODNESS thank you for this tutorial. I have an assignment in social studies where we have to make a miniature version of Jamestown including tents with materials we could find at home and I HAD ALL OF THESE! It was soooo easy. Thank you SO MUCH!
Dude this is perfect for my WW1-style miniatures. White tents set up for field hospitals and olive-drab for sleeping. Keep up the amazing work. I'll have to try this.
well that's got to be an interesting smelling tent..and I can kinda see a story in my head from just what you used to give it the fall look. The adventurers awaken on a foggy autumn morning with the dew and fog bringing out the scent of the herbs buried in the leaf litter on the ground as they brew a hot pot of coffee to put warmth back into their bones from the chill of the night and the foggy morning. As the coffee brews and one adventurer inspects the patches to see if they need reinforcing yet again an angry growl comes from deep in the fog and they make ready to defend themselves. Well that's just off the to of my head mind you but I'm impressed with the simplicity of the build and how well it turned out in the end. Good work man, very good.
Mini Terrain Domain Not the best at drawing, but I want to create things so I write..and read alot. Thank you for the complement all the same. I actually have some pizza spice at home myself and I never thought of using it like this or the coffee grounds either.
Thank you for the wonderful content. I am going to use these techniques for both my many D&D groups I have and my art projects that will an absolute masterpiece with this knowledge.
Thanks for showing. I like you'r vids, you display and explain it clearly so it is very easy to see and understand how it is made ...;-) Keep up the good works
Thanks for the video. I have been looking for some ideas for my campaign to hand to my players (a thank you). This would be a great idea for my rangers.
Now we can all go camping on crystal lake! Nice tents but I think Im more jelous about how awesome you vids come out! You gotta intro an outro and sound effects . . your leaving me in the dust buddy!! :-D
I appreciate the compliments. I once planned to go into filmmaking. I love filming and editing these tutorials almost as much as I love making the terrain and miniatures. Almost.
Also, would like something that can be "taken down" and folded up into a cart for while travelling... we kind of "play" with our minitures quite a bit more than most (I Assume).
@@professorludicoI used chip board (cardboard), craft paint, white glue, paper towel, water, and homemade flock (grasses) made from used coffee grounds and paint. Hope that helps.
I literally just bought the starter set (5e) and don't know much but want to make these models . Should I play from a gridded map (like all the places) I downloaded off Google or a blank gridded laminated big page from the print shop . Thanks .
+Cian Bowbrick Welcome to D&D 5e! Gridded maps and laminated (dry erase) maps are great for quick setups. You can actually play with miniatures and not even use a grid. Check out DM Scotty's TH-cam at theDMsCraft and search for his videos about gridless play. And check out my other vids for more tutorials. I've got more coming soon too.
The pizza seasoning is dried herbs, so no...it won't mold. In fact, the stuff I used here was already a couple years old. As for the coffee grounds, as long as they are thoroughly dried prior to coloring, they will not mold.
I had one of these when I was in the army well half of one it took 2 to make 1 tent so you had to have another soldier in order to make a tent with. Is that a tent in your pocket or are you just glad to see me?
Jake, love the idea or the tent. I have a project that I want to take to a level par non. I´m working on building up the 12 tribes of ancient Israel encampment. Have you ever done a multiple affect of tents from one piece of cardboard?
I have to ask, did you use the cardboard from a package of drinks? I tried with corrugated cardboard you get with regular packaging boxes, and ended up failing miserably...
I used a thinner cardboard from a package of corn dogs. Cereal boxes, cracker boxes and others are perfect. I should have specified to use non-corrugated cardboard.
+austin hall more coming soon. The next couple are not terrain because I'm doing BrigadeCon next weekend, but after that, more terrain tutorials are coming. Thanks for watching!
Your welcome. And thank you for taking the time to record step-by-step guides on how to make these vidoes. Have you ever watched Commissar Gamza, he's good as well.
Yes I followed it exact maybe when it is finished it will all look right, I will keep going with it. I used the tissue I have in the bathroom but it just turned to mush, I am guessing you used kitchen roll or serviettes or something like this.
Not that it matters, but 1.) I believe I I was the first crafter to post a tent terrain tutorial on YT, and 2.)I don't think Scotty ever did a tent video other than his very different Orc tents (which he posted after this one)
@@MiniTerrainDomain No, you're right, it does not matter. I was not being hateful, or acussing anyon of anything, just liked your video, and wondered if you took inspiration from each others Ideas! Thats all I was meaning, Sir. Don't tell Scotty, but yours is better! hahaha
@@scotteverroad4545 thank you! I have been very open that I was inspired to start crafting by Scotty. We have inspired each other over the years through craft and storytelling.
I finally got this down after a few rewatches, I'm no engineer so measuring takes forever. 😁 Great stuff
I made some. They turned out great. Thanks for the tips.

Excellent design. Quick and easy, yet quality outcome. Thank you for this.
Thank you! I'm all about cheap, quick, and easy, but with quality final products.
Very clever! Great tents.
love the video actually working on post apocalypse terrain and this tent will fit in just fine
Thanks for sharing this. Well thought out, well designed and easy to follow. Bravo sir.
GreyTowerGames Thank you!
Fantastic work and . . . I subscribed. Looking forward to seeing more.
Thanks for sharing, I am gonna make some of these this weekend!
you have gave me so helpful ideas for my camp site, thank you
I like what I saw. (Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk!) :) Oh, and I like the idea of seasoning for leaf litter. Might have to try that myself.
Looks dope my guy! gonna use this for sure!
Sweet tent. Thanks!
Great idea for canvas tents.
Have to try this one day, nice tuto and great job!
Wow!!!, quick and easy

I'd kill for a template. Though you definitely went through the measurements.
I'm wanting to make this a little bigger and I can't figure out the math lol. I want my peak to be 3" tall so my minis can fit inside it. Great Video!
looks fantastic :D . Though I usually just use piece of cloth, heavy coated in PVa and then painted in 3 or 4 layers.
The card base is also a bit dodgy - PVA will make it warp. Better to use either Expanded Polystyrene sheet or MDF.
Awesome video!
Just curious why you scored and folded the tab on the back of the tent when it was going to glued straight across to the other half of the tent.

Awesome! what about pavilions and larger tents? I just found this and haven't searched through your videos yet... on my way to do so now.

Is there any way you could give me the demetions of the peice you started out with first?
I believe that first piece I started with is 4” x 8”.
What products did you use, besides the sand, on the floor?
It’s all in the video. Anything in particular you were wondering about?
@@MiniTerrainDomain My English is bad! So I asked in writing!

Can you make a fire pit that would go with it?
It's on my to do list. Stay tuned.

The coffee grounds and pizza seasoning doesn't ever mold or whatever?

sorry what is PBA glue
Nice!!!
Won't the paper towel rip after being soaked?

+Chris P. Bacon I was in the Infantry and sort of based these on the classic shelter half tents.

Interesting idea. I have not ever done a large encampment.
Very nice Bro:)!

i dont know if i have made a mistake somewhere, or if it is the angle it is filmed at making me think my tent is not long enough
As long as you follow the measurements at the beginning, you should be okay.
Yes I followed it exact maybe when it is finished it will all look right, I will keep going with it. I used the tissue I have in the bathroom but it just turned to mush, I am guessing you used kitchen roll or serviettes or something like this.
I used paper towel.
well your paper towel is more robust than mine lol, i daren't ring mine out because then it will rip. w how watery do you do your PVA ?
i'm going to make these for my friends.
Nice vid
Nice tent!
How stable is it? =)
+davekachel They are very stable. I mean, I wouldn't stand on it, but it's pretty solid.
I finally found a step by step guide in how to craft.
Thank you I liked and subscribed.
Hell if I could I would give you a massage and foot rub too.
