    Note the stuff I thought was pink cancrinite is probably in actuality pink hackmanite. Also the yellow glowing piece might be fluorescent cancrinite, I have been told it can fluoresce yellow.

    I had no idea there was hackmanite in ontario. You should double check for phosphorescence. Make sure your eyes are dark adapted and keep them closed while hitting the pieces with UV to preserve your dark adapted vision, then open them as soon as the UV is switched off. You should see some green phosphorescence.

      @Muonium1 I should have a video out on the long lake zinc mine sometime hopefully in the next couple months. Went there for a trip and recorded some footage but it going to be a video that's going to require a lot of time to edit and get right.

    Does the CN dump Hackmanite exhibit tenebrescence?? After exposure to UV light it turns pink and later reverts back to white. Davis Quarry Hackmanite is famous for that. I love going there.

    • @Ontario_Rockhound
      @Ontario_Rockhound  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      From what I remember hearing is that the cancrinite can be tenebrescencent but I might remember that wrong.

    • @CoinandRelicOntario
      @CoinandRelicOntario 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Ontario_Rockhound I'm pretty sure Cancrinite is yellow from the Bancroft region.

    • @Ontario_Rockhound
      @Ontario_Rockhound  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is some pink/purple cancrinite that can be found at the dumps, though it's much rarer then the yellow stuff. But I know there is pink hackmanite out there to.

    • @CoinandRelicOntario
      @CoinandRelicOntario 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Ontario_Rockhound Cancrinite is not pink or purple!! It's probably Hackmanite.

    • @Ontario_Rockhound

      Yes for sure hit me up when do and we can go collecting! Non of this stuff phosphoresces, but I have selenite rose in my collection from Manitoba that does phosphoresce green.

    I love those ones that glow orange under the black light. It makes them look like glowing embers in a camp fire. Could that one with the black mixed in been some basalt? Great video! Sorry I hadn't stopped by in a while. Looks like that sub count is continuing to grow!

    Dude, you definitely need a better uv flashlight! That little thing you had was almost useless.

    • @Ontario_Rockhound
      @Ontario_Rockhound  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it's definitely not the strongest or largest, working on getting a better one, I know just the guy to go to get a bigger and stronger one. This year I did already get a much larger and more powerful sw uv light bc I went to a cool location with lot of minerals that are fluorescent under sw.
