เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 3 ธ.ค. 2012
Hi my name is Aidan, I am a Canadian rockhound who loves to share his knowledge/experiences in the hobby with others, and like wise learn from others experience and knowledge. Plus I show the awesome things I find and have in my collection.
Awesome Variety of Agates Cut | Crazy Colours and Patterns | Ontario Rockhound | Lapidary
I got my hands on a variety of differnet agate nodules and decided that I would have some fun and cut them while I can't go rockhounding. I hope you find them as cool and as interesting as I did.
The material I cut included Lake Superior agate, Botswana agate, Malawi agate, Coyamito agate, Parcelas agate, and Beacon Hill agate.

All of them are cool as heck, Aidan !!😎👍 Happy New Year Buddy !!! ✌🍀⛏⛏⛏
@historylooker7 thanks Chad, happy new year to you too!
@Ontario_Rockhound 😃👍
Beacon hill agates are awesome. I think the sprays are sagenite sprays. A couple of those coyamitos are sweet. Love any agate cuttings.
Thanks for the info, glad you liked the video.
Great selection of agates!
Thanks Dan
Excellent video! Love the agates❤
Thank you!
Great video, Aidan! Gotta say my favorite was the Beacon Hill agate. It was a lot to look at!
Yeah it does have a lot in it eh.
17:10 looks like sagenite
Ok cool appreciate it
It's a fantastic specimen!
@@Mike-br8vb thanks!
do you tumble these rocks?
I have never, but I have heard of other folks doing it.
I'm in favor of face polishing that one at the beginning you're unsure on and leaving as is otherwise. Some very lovely specimens there. That first geode coyamito in particular I want to see under UV. All of them really, but that and the other geode one for sure. All those plume and moss agates would look spectacular under a microscope. I've become addicted to mine. And those sprays are probably sagenite. I'm going to try to find some of that Beacon Hill now so I can put some under my scope, that looks like loads of fun.
Thanks Ken for the advice and info.
amazing stuff!
Thanks 😀
Amazing fossils! Thank you for sharing! 😊
Thanks for watching and commenting
Good find😊
@@frenchcrystalhunter thanks!
That was another great day, thanks for sharing your knowledge! 👍
Yes it was 🙂
The See Lilie is beautyful large😮😮 This is a Museum Peace. To dangerous to take?
The one at the beginning was more that I didn't have the right tools to extract and even if I did I would have donated it to the local museum.
Amazing video!! Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for watching
Very nice crinoid stem !!!! And love the plates !!💥💥 Amazing show as always, brother Aidan !!!!😀👍⛏️⛏️⛏️⛏️⛏️🍀🍀
Thanks Chad!
@Ontario_Rockhound Hope ya have a Merry Christmas, buddy !! 😃👍🎄 🎅
@historylooker7 you too, merry Christmas to you and your family!
@Ontario_Rockhound Thanks buddy !!👍
Very cool place! I like the trilobites, but the crionoid plate was outstanding! Thanks for the lesson!
Thanks for watching and commenting MIke! I appreciate your support!
Wow Aidan , You started out with that Crinoid Stem (never seen one that lengthy & intact before) and kept my attention all through the entire video. Also really enjoy your describing for the 'uninitiated', what it is that your finding, making it educational for the entire family.. Happiest of Holiday's to you and your family.
Glad you enjoyed it and found it interesting!
Thanks Aidan, nice to see these little creatures and have you explain them. Lloyd.
Thanks for the nice comment!
Great finds
Thank you!!
Cant wait for this episode! I have literally so many of these fossils at home and didnt think they were rare! 😅
Well I hope you enjoy the video and my finds!
I just refer to all of them (agate, jasper, chert, flint) as chalcedonies.
Yep that's the safe bet.
Beautiful specimens!! Thank You for sharing!!
Thanks for watching Amber
Beautiful MashaAllah 🌹🙏✅️💎
Thank you
That thing is gorgeous!!!💚
Thanks it was one of my better finds at that local
Thats a cool spot. I don't recall if I ever collected there?? I may have to give it a go next year. Some nice small specimens though. Nice!! 👍😁
Thanks Andrew, let me know when you are going and I can show you a couple other interesting spots nearby
@Ontario_Rockhound Sounds good Aidan. I sure will, thanks!!
Amazing video!! Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you
Love your videos and your finds. Do you ever go out in winter?
If the grounds not frozen I will but I don't know how that's going to go the season
Nice finds!
Thank you Brian
Nice finds! Looks like fun!
Thanks, it was.
Wow! They cleaned up quite well. Thnx for sharing with us.
Thank you, they did clean up good.
Great video! One question: did you leave that Gatorade bottle?
I don't believe so. I am usually pretty anal about cleaning up after myself bc I hate seeing garbage at sites, but if I did and you found that is my bad I promise I usually leave site with more garbage then I brought in bc I usually end cleaning up an garbage I find.
I really like that larger smokey plate! Great show, Aidan!!
Thanks, my friend did pretty well with his find eh!
I meant the one you got!! I guess it's not that big, but bigger than the others on the table. And yes your friend got a big un!!🙌🏻
Those plates are really cool, Aidan !! The picture of the one found by your friend, is huge !! Awesome show, buddy !!💥 😀👍⛏⛏⛏⛏⛏⛏🍀🍀🍀
Thanks Chad appreciate the compliments!
@Ontario_Rockhound 😎✌
Hi Aidan, I have been to this site before and found small pieces as you have. Although many are small, some are very beautiful. My fav is your Amphibole plate, it is a beauty for sure. The Musclow Greenview Road transverses some of the most documented mines and occurrences in Hastings County I believe between Birds Creek and Maple Leaf. A person could spends days searching out crystals in Herschel Township alone let alone the area to the north and east. Great Video and nice to see this place again. LLoyd.
Thanks LLoyd!
nice
Thanks 😀
I dont think I have any scapolite yet. Next years mission.
Maybe we could meet up at some point and collect some together, do you have any uv lights?
@@Ontario_Rockhound Would love to I dont have UV lights but I can get one
@TomsRockShop well it might be a good investment if you're interested in the uv side of scapolite.
Zirconium the metal got its name from the mineral known as zircon.
Cool 👍
Some quick tips to get you on track. These are not hard rules as much as a good rule of thumb to follow. Abrade often and a lot, especially with obsidian. Thin from platforms BELOW CENTERLINE. Flakes must travel OVER halfway across the piece to thin it. Follow those "rules" and you'll find your pieces thin down much better
Thanks 😀 I appreciate the pointers!
Scapolite is rare to be found and you just have it like that 😂
@anythinganywhere05 I mean, if you know where to look, the Norland and Minden areas of Ontario have multiple scapolite occurrences.
Always a great adventure. Thank you. Cool specimens for the display cases.
Thanks!
