I know it might sound weird but I'm actually really happy it's going to a smaller dev with no big titles under their belt. Because of this, they will treat SWTOR as their crown jewel and the content we do receive will have a lot of effort put into it. This is a big acquisition for them and likely took a huge amount of money to get their hands on. They are gonna do everything in their power (at least at first) to keep players entertained and happy so they can recoup their investment.

That's a fair good point way to see it, especially since this is a star wars IP title, is a big chance for them.

my concerns are how this is going to effect the following:
    SWTOR on:
5 current servers - will broadsword continue to maintain this? including french & german server?

Oh that's a very good question, didn't think of that! Also curious since they were testing a new server for the cloud and such.

This might be sad. I am a new player and about to finish my 8th and last storyline to complete all the baseline stories before I dive into the expansions.

Oh I think you will definitely have time to play through those, we are just not sure how future content will turn out yet after 7.4 but whats already there will likely still all be there to play for a long while so keep having fun experiencing it all :)

Time for people to start being Subscribers and not just Free-To-Players. Sadly, the upper management and Exec/Shareholder ONLY care about the bottom line $$$ NOT Star Wars Sentiment
Interestingly WOW has been out for how many decades; and is still here and evolving. So, its not that SWTOR is an old game that will shut it down... its the lack of support $$$ Subscribers that will do it.

I quit playing shortly after 7.0 came out because of the f'd up classes and sorry story. Until SWTOR fixes the classes and introduces an engaging story, my money will be going elsewhere.

Yea. I do not like that we do not have access to all abilities. Also, the last major patch. I guess 6.x had a better gear grind to get better gear. As, a computer person, I do know that small staffs suck when you have too large of a User base. So, yea, the story suffers and the uniqueness of the class story. I do like that we can have more than one fighting style. I would like it better if I could have a force sensitive operative or smuggler.....

They should just shut this crap down. The game is dead. They killed it by implementing a failed level scaling system. Basically, your character gets WEAKER as it levels up & nothing short of constantly having the BEST gear equip can overcome this. Even at endgame they were forced to add an "old equipment penalty" system, which further hurts you for using older gear. They did this to prevent players from using "unintended stats" from older gear to overcome the crappy level scaling system. So basically, Bioware fucked it up and didn't know how to fix it the correct way, so they just punish players further with another poorly thought-out system. I doubt a new team will be able to fix the dumpster fire that they've created here.
