- Bigger lasers, new particle cannon and a whole lot of armour & engine upgrades! The craft is starting to truly leave the atmosphere behind, soon space will be It's permanent home! Also lasers continue to be an odd weapon to use as a main weapon! Deadly, but odd!

"Impact damage can now travel between constructs"
There is no longer such a thing as overkill with thump damage.
I love how stupidly thump damage works once you have a stupidly high amount. You just bonk things and they vapourise.

Hey! Glad you liked Sovereign! (Yes, I named her in direct reference to Mass Effect). A key thing to note is that while she has some REALLY thick armour, it is only really on her bow, underside, and broadsides, as as you could guess from her underslung turret, she was primarily designed for anti-ship work. Your space-lasers basically bypassed most of her armour and only had to contend with 1-2m of HA, as opposed to the 10-12m of HA, if not more, that is present in those aforementioned better armoured areas.
She's beautiful
people are out there slapping 12 meters of HA onto their craft when I'm debating the fifth layer of metal on the armor belt lmao
also her laser defences came on after the first shot

Also: I think you should call it Vulture. It's got that dark, sorta boney aesthetic and you just sit high in the sky picking on enemies that toil beneathe you, normally while they're already in combat

From the depths is a series i wish to see continued in the future - despite owning FTD this is the only way i can EXPERIENCE it since its a bit too difficult for my brain to process.
I agree, watching someone who is good at it is entertaining and helps with playing the game yourself. I find it difficult to make anything look good or function, the only vehicles I can make well are thrustercraft and airships.
facts, i love the game, but it's way too hard an in depth. if the learning curve wasn't a literal wall i would probably love it.
honestly what it needs a terratech-style easy mode so that us lovely potato heads can learn dummed down versions of the mechanics, and then slowly experience more and more complicated stuff as our ships get bigger
@@angeloid_ I kinda agree that it is difficult but I think that the difficulty adds more freedom, unfortunately this comes with the price of am insane amount of learno.
It's even more difficult for my _computer_ to process...

Hello lathrix, the scarlet dawn craft you have encountered is the andromeda, in which you dragged to the depths of hell last season :p. It features two ~300m long particle cannons and plenty of missiles. it’s a very glass cannon type craft, lots of bark but no bite. Hope to see you encounter more SD craft in the future :)
I think the metaphor here would be "lots of bite no bark" this time :p

I feel like they've drastically improved the spawning algorithm, because you seem to be getting much more interesting fights with a more diverse list of enemies this season. So far, it's been fantastic to watch.
I’ve been rewatching some of Lath’s older videos and I never realized how much quicker he talks nowadays compared to a few years ago. Crazy stuff
The ship really reminds me of the capital ships from Star Trek. Maybe its those two, big, kinda detached engines.
I'm not sure it looks like a plane anymore... but all that matter are the big booms.
As for the name, I say Agorak. It's the name of Constantin Von Carstein undead dragon.
One issue you have with your LAMS is your using one system for defense and offense so if you are attacking you have no energy to spend on defense as it still takes time to charge as well as the system only being capable of one task at a time so laser turret or LAMS not both at the same time
I like how they did that with the spin blocks. (Proceeds to glass half the ship)
The particle cannon coloured red REALLY makes it look like the craft has intestines...

Love how this space monster is starting to turn out the atheistic is awesome! I'm no FTD pro but might I recommend a depth-charge/orbitally dropped torpedo weapon? Just for finishing of submerged enemies rather then using all that energy trying to pen them through the water. Eitherway that was some damn fine carna-... Liberation of lives from tyranny.

A huge missile focusing solely on impact damage (with a thumper head, naturally) could be a pretty dangerous weapon, like a "rod from god."
No fuel, no thrust, just a few fins, remote guidance + fin aiming stuff, and reinforced bodies for all the rest.
@@zarnox3071 I personally prefer the idea of creating a really heavy flier out of the atmosphere, adding enough downward thrust and harpoons to pull ships into orbit, releasing the harpoons and manoeuvring to a position where they just can't attack you, then slowly striping it to pieces.
A torpedo bomb would be fun but a little hard as it would be difficult to make them last long enough to actually hit.
Lathland you seem like a genuinely good guy. I’ve been watching you for the past couple years(notably I took breaks) but you have always been a role model for me which is weird to say but is true.

For the almost abundant enemies and constant combat i would suggest having some mildly effective munitions to both deal with enemies who have smoke defense and when your energy is low, maybe a semi auto but high mm advanced cannon or something like that but as always, I love your videos and I love your Warhammer references, you're one of my favorite people to watch, so i do thank you for making such amazing content

Reminds me of the orbital Ion cannon from command and conquer a little bit. Also the particle shot sorta looks like a lightning strike with how wobbly it is and how you're always above them

Have you thought about a lower deck observation area? A bit dangerous, but being able to sit right next to the belly guns as they fire would look pretty sweet.

Hey lathrix, I've suggested this twice already in you past two videos, but I have a series/challenge suggestion for airships: conquer the skies. You stay round about within your starting territory (how much is up to your discretion), and get most of your income from capturing and scrapping ships. Should be hard, but fun, and make sure to start with a boarding tech (I think one of the heraldry symbols guarantees some sort of boarding tech.)
As far as I know you can’t win without capturing enemy territoey

Lathrix, I want to ask you to create little melee fightercraft that your main ship sends out, and they fire a particle cannon when the target is too far away. A tiny one.
Don't overclock your PAC, you really don't need that extra power on a 1000-length.
But why not?

Honestly lathrix, your ships look awesome to me as i think your sci-fi theming of ship design is more interesting than modern day ships to look at, that said to me the ship seriously looks like a spider who took all its legs and pointed them straight forward to fly through the air spraying its web down at enemies below, so for a name design.. why not just a really cool spider name? like the redback, black widow, or even the goliath birdeater as you are really good at taking out flyers coming for you. love your content dude.

Lath if you haven’t already, check out “Avorion” on steam. There are some very significant similar aspects between FtD and Avorion. The RTS part of it is a bit more pronounced, especially in the late game, but in the early game it’s pretty scarce. It’s all in space, and the building aspect is a bit less in depth. Super fun game.

Hey Lathrix! Try adding wings & styling them like solar panels on a satellite!
Your lasers desperately need a power regulator so you maintain appropriate damage even at low charge. It also lets you turn them down to reduce overkill. And you desperately need more generation capacity.
I'm glad you tried the sniper laser. Its much more reasonable when properly tuned. A regulator allows full damage at partial charge which increases dps over all, assuming enough power is available/the pumps and engines can keep up.

Or if(/how?) possible, maybe you can breadboard(?) it so the random targets have a higher chance of being selected towards the center of the craft?
So it more likely cores out the craft, than just slightly charring random blocks.
Name it the LLN Thunder Bird. LLN means LathLandNavy and it’s Thunder Bird because 1 it sounds cool and 2 it flys and rains down lasers like a thunder storm
I'd say to call it the Scarab(sticking with the insect theme of Dragonfly), or Vulture II(as The Dovah's Den suggested).

4:08 It straight up looks like a gun. Like, You cant make it look more like a gun without adding a trigger. It looks like a particle Cannon or a Shotgun, or a Particle Shotcannon. The back even looks like the stock.

Love that black/white laser. It's very "good guy" compared to normal red lasers.
You know what I think you should do? Try building FTD versions of Star Wars or alike space fantasies spaceships, like Venator class star destroyers or lukrahulk class droid control ship, would love to see your take on these spaceships! :D
It'd be amazing if you could program the laser to do a "stroke", so rather than merely dumping all that power into a hole you can gouge out a full line

Need bigger pods and a bit more ion thrusters up front. Then you should have some fun. Also. A 4k sustainable lams system zaps nearly any medium missile out of the sky and mostly deletes rail shots and huge missiles
23:32 you hooked LAMS to your main laser system, that means if you fired your laser the LAMS will be less powerful.

I personally like the idea of at some point, creating a truly massive space craft, chucking a bunch of harpoons on it, and just lifting ships into orbit, then going underneath them and picking them off from below.

My only complaint about this episode was the lack of the finished Particle Cannon firing
maybe of your next campaign you should make most or all of you ships in the style of the tyranids and they can be named after the different types of tyranids.

you should make two smaller dud craft, that fly just under the actual craft, so you have time to charge and minor but continous damage if you were to put a lighter bullet rotisere station.
