Thirty years after Norm made that joke about Conan's sidekick (that's Andy Richter the Swedish-German), Andy decided to be retroactively offended by it in public, and, of all days, the same day Conan was dedicating an episode on his podcast to Norm who had recently died.
@@MCEnterTV, Perhaps; anything is possible. But for a professional in the business, like Andy, to choose the memorial for Norm to mention it is really bad form. Heck, Andy even started the original joke that Norm went on to use on Andy, time and again, and Andy (at the time) was delighted. And, he gave as good as Norm dished out, and it was pure magic all around. Too bad Andy went there for no good reason.
Norm was fired from SNL because he was told to stop doing OJ Simpson jokes, and he immediately doubled down and did even more of those jokes. It was an order from an executive who was personal friends with OJ. Lorn Michaels the guy in charge of SNL didn't want to get rid of him. He went over his opening monologue about how the show sucked with Lorn, and he wanted to go even further as part of the bit. He wanted to give the monologue and then leave and not participate in any of the skits, but they said that would be taking it too far.
Every time I hear Norm's voice I can't help but think of the "pigeon" character he played in the animated "Mike Tyson Mysteries". Norm's character was guaranteed to steal scenes and drop zingers EVERY episode.
It's great to see the reaction of a younger crowd. A lot of comedy doesn't age well, but Norm does, because he was ahead of his time. Most television people (aka executives and show runners) couldn't tell if he was funny or bombing, because he was that much on the edge. Today I feel most people understand what he is doing, but believe it or not back then most people didn't get it. That's why he kept getting fired.

I do a reaction channel that I upload to every once in a while and I get it. I only do reactions to stuff I want to react to mostly, so you can imagine I don't do too many videos these days. I would say don't end the channel, but it's your thing guys. Really enjoy the Norm stuff though.

Norm got the perfect revenge on SNL. Is the bearded bloke a teacher? I only ask because his sense of humour seemed to disappear when Norm was taking the arrogant teacher down a peg or two.
The like is from me, but, only one every four months to notice this means that either we are both wrong, or, he has "Stockholm syndrome" for one of his teachers, or, is married to a teacher, or, his sister is a teacher. The other conclusion is that we are both geniuses, but I've bitten the inside of my mouth and my tongue way too many times to believe that of myself.
That was an interesting reaction. Try to find the S.N.L. skit from 1979 with Bill Russel. The skit is called The Black Shadow. It is a take off of the T.V. show The White Shadow.

The best part is that Norm wasn't invited back onto the view for almost 20 years. And he couldn't have given less of a shit about it.
