  • In early September 2018, we go into the driver's & loco assistant's perspective for an afternoon on the Weka Pass Railway as we take a ride up front on the Diesel Traction Group's Di 1102. We capture footage not seen very often of the men crewing the 1966 built diesel electric locomotive as it thunders its way through the scenic Weka Pass on a wet, cloudy spring day. Enjoy the unique sound of that English Electric turbo wine!

Absolutely perfect, superb audio and sharp video. The English Electric soundtrack featuring the screaming Napier is a symphony to my ears! Well done to you for the video and well done to the DTG for such an amazing restoration!

That's a roger. I may be wrong on the manufacturer of the turbo but it's all I've ever seen fitted to EEs

very good video, but you won't be able to ride like this for very long.
When the new locomotives come in about 3 years, you won't need to turn the locomotives at the turning point and the cockpit will look completely different.
Or will this tourist route with exactly this train remain exactly the same for a long time?

Sounds much like an EMD, Electro Motor Division from General Motors USA.

Great video , I remember doing this trip as part of a conference outing with a bunch of engineers back at least 15 years . Immaculate loco :)
