Interesting to see the internal parts working. Well done to all involved. And despite the shortcomings of the Dg, they were a lovely looking loco. Same with the Df.
Good job fellow preservationists down under, visited your site 6 years ago and a huge progress has been made on this loco. I like the sound of those inline 6 CSRKT engines, basically a class 37 engine with one bank chopped off.
I'm a retired engineer and I would like to know who built that prime mover and how much horse power they are. How much does that locomotive weigh? That is 3'6" gauge, isn't it? I think that has got to be the worst coupling system I've ever seen, nothing beats the buckeye couplers.
@@gordonvincent731 The builder of the prime mover is English Electric, and it produces about 750-1000hp. (sources give different numbers) And NZ indeed has the 3'6"gauge. The locomotive is pretty light at just 64 metric tons, I believe that that is 70 short tons, on 6 axles. So that's just 11 ton axle load, as these were designed for lightly laid branch lines. The so called chopper couplers on this locomotive is an old style coupler, NZR does use buckeyes for many years now as they were safer to use as they lock in coupled position, and don't need hands on uncoupling.
No Reflex. That is a Vulcan raicar. Older, and smaller than a Drewry 88 seater, but much more reliable over the years. Had a Frichs engine, and when you walked past it while on the move, you could see it jumping around, as it was bogie mounted. Rather frightening, but you got used to it.
Some lovely EE sounds here. Interesting to note the drivers key is the same as the British one.

Great job by the DTG and the videographer!
Congrats and well done to all involved! Marvelous - really is!
Great video, and good job by the DTG.
Great to see the DTG get to this big milestone.
Really nicely made video as well.

Fantastic capture of a momentous day
All them hours work, and she purrs like a cat.! Smiles all round eh.!
That was pretty special! Thanks for sharing.
Nice al fresco cab! That sounds very much like a six cylinder Thumper.
That engine reminds me of the ALCo inline-six engines that were in some of their first locomotives. It sounds similar too.
Beautiful
Can’t wait to see it powering up on an excursion
TurbochargedTraction indeed
Looks like a Class 20 "Whistling Wardrobe".
How far do you have to mess about on.? How long is your track.?
G’day, just found your channel, nice collection of videos. I have joined you and will follow your journey …………..cheers Mark
Those old electric toys in the background tho, I see EO 45, a Ganz Mavag EMU, and is that an 88 Seater RM railcar?

Is there any other similarity.?
Now how do I fit that turbocharger to my Honda?
I think it would crush your suspension XD
I'd like the whole motor in my Citroen C5......

If nothing else, at least your horns are based on British ones.!😁!.
