It's pretty amazing all of the lawn equipment people either throw away or give away for free when a lot of the time it's a simple fix or there might not even be anything wrong with it at all like the Echo trimmer you pulled out of the scrap bin, wasn't anything wrong with it and it runs great. Echo is a good brand and that trimmer is in excellent shape. I get lots of lawn equipment given to me that people just want to get rid of like in the spring someone gave me a Stihl FS66 trimmer/brushcutter which has the bicycle bar handle setup, it wasn't getting spark which was an easy fix as it just had a loose connection and it runs great.
I snagged two older Craftsman and one Homelite trimmers and a John Deere leaf blower for $40. One craftsman needs a trigger, the other vibrates. The homelite needed a head and muffler, the JD leaf blower needed a carb rebuild. Sold the leaf blower with backpack for $200. Keeping the trimmers, each with different heads for different purposes. I am currently working on a Toro S-200 snow blower that I got for free from the neighbor.
The thing that destroys most 2-cycle engines is improper fuel-oil mix ratio. The premix is great, and the fuel doesn't seem to evaporate from the mixture and leave just oil in the carb as bad as the stuff you mix yourself. Most people including myself just don't like the aggravation of messing with them. That's why you find them so easily lol
Just the inter day I found a 2014 toro recycler personal pace self propelled lawn mower with out the bag, I rolled it home and put a new plug in and clean the carb and sold it for $200!!! Just goes to show what rich people throw away!!
You should do more videos like this. People throw away so much great stuff its actually amazing. I've found a Stihl FS-40C Trimmer, a Homelite Gas Blower, a Black and Decker mower, a Troy-Bilt backpack blower and much more. They all work fine too. I also own an ECHO SRM225 trimmer. That thing has never let me down
The Weed Wacker one I would've not bothered because those are made to be disposable. They are sub-$50 trimmers new. I haven't had any luck with those, ever.
Congratulations on your first failure. I despise those small Walbro-type carbs. Once they stuff up they are nearly impossible to clean. Good job on the Echo though. I have a minor request: Try to minimize swinging your camera around when you aren't using a tripod. It gives us older folks a headache, lol. Thanks.
I chuckled when you thought something might be wrong with the Echo trimmer head. Nope, nothing missing; you just push in pre-cut lengths of line. When they break or get too short, you use a needle nose to pull them through from the middle. Of course you have to make certain to push the cut line far enough to begin with.
Believe it or not, I have that same weed eater brand weed eater and I just fired it up last week for its 20th mowing season, it’s like the weed eater that won’t die only thing I’ve done to it it put new fuel lines in it
Nice find. The Echo is definitely a better machine. I had a similar Weed Eater someone gave me years back, but I think mine had 2 strings. I think Weedeater was made by the same company that made a lot of the cheaper Craftsman stuff, I think Poulan. The carburetors are pretty cheap for most mall engines, you can get Chinese knockoffs on Amazon or ebay that work good.
My uncle just gave me an echo similar to that one, I was looking up carb clean video, may just run some fuel through, I think the previous owner said it might of got water in the gas.
You must use a richer oil mixture (25:1) in the older Weed Eaters. The reason it seized is improper lubrication in the cylinder. It actually ran until it quit as the fuel to oil mixture appeared incorrect.
25:1 is too oil heavy. 32:1 is the proper mix in those older machines if you’re using todays 2 cycle synthetic blend or even 40:1 is good enough. Back in the day you used regular engine oil to mix with the gas which is why it was heavier ratio. There wasn’t oils specifically designed for 2 strokes
I like the echo alot and I thought you would get the weed eater running but good job doing your best and I have another white outdoor riding mower for sale
the Echo sounds like it has a clogged spark aresstor screen in the muffler and as for the weed eater try putting a thick rich mixture and let it to soak and then carefully pull on the cord and another option you could try is seeing if the pull cord got caught on the flywheel from the pulley rotor
Not a cheap Echo. They sell it the way you had it for people who prefer that method (me) and they offer an optional spool head. I bought the head at a discount and have never even opened it.
The Tip where I come from Downunder you are not allowed to salvage stuff. Probably to do with OH&S stuff??. one time though someone was throwing out a mower and gave it to me, at that time it was still HIS property. all that was wrong was the recoil starter was broken and it wasnt even 2 years old.
Na it siezed because some moron either tuned it too lean or just put straight gas in it. 50:1 wouldn’t make a 2 stroke swell up due to the fact because it’s still got oil in the gas
That Echo looks like the nearly $200 (GT225 $191, May 2012) (21 CC) unit, I've got out in my shed. No, cut off strips of line about 10" long, poke them thru the holes in the round head, the jaws in the small holes sometimes (get rusty) need to be oiled to work properly to grab the line, use an ice pick to gently poke them open to work again. Beetle supervising? That Echo is probably worth to someone who knows prices, $100, just sayin. Nice score. You win some, some you lose.
First, glad you got one going Weedeater (Poulan) which is under AYP, which also makes husqvarna MTD makes Troybilt, some craftsman, Bolens , Remington, Murray, yardman, yard machine, hyper tough and many others I can say yes I have a Murray string m2510 trimmer so far so good 12 months later It’s been working great . I always use ethanol free gas with synthetic 2. Cycle oil at. 40:1 or 50:1 I did trash pick a Weedeater similar to that one recently and got it going with fuel lines , carb cleaning and carb adjustment to high and low jets screws. th-cam.com/video/S1RlmRvr1nc/w-d-xo.html
Well DUH! The Echo one is better because it's a higher end product! Thats like saying an iphone 13 is better then a Stratus C5 "Elite". Like, no shit sherlock!

yeah i can't believe what people throw away

I like channels that work on mowers and lawn equipment
well this is a perfect fit then!

Found 2 leaf blowers and a weed eater all 2 stokes along the road I replaced the fuel hoses and they all fired right up already made 40$ selling one

i know it's crazy! you got yourself a great find
I found a weed whacker in a dumpster years ago. I changed out the gas and fuel lines. 10 years later still running. Green weedeater featherlite.

Yeah, weed eaters are junk
A Rural Vermonter - Qqjmcb 182 Say, did you make good use of that $100 Amazon card? Supplies aren't cheap.
@@999thenewman yep I am actually going to buy a better camera because I won that card because of you guys so I figure you should also be rewarded
A Rural Vermonter - Qqjmcb 182 We're grateful unconditionally. :) Hey, if you like winding down on your day off, I'll have another video soon.
Cool I'll check it out

I have a minor request: Try to minimize swinging your camera around when you aren't using a tripod. It gives us older folks a headache, lol. Thanks.
thanks. And I'll try to calm my swinging of the camera, hopefully I'll actually buy a new camera soon!
I wish I could find free stuff like that. Any ideas where I could?
Facebook or people who work on stuff like that will usually give some to you
Craigslist free section

I love how if you put on captions at 2:30 it says music

Did you try changing the fuel filter or spark plug?
"go off?" lol.. Anyways, thanks for the vid my man, I did learn a couple of things.👍😉
The weed eater looks like one of our old ones we had years ago.it's probably good for parts, ours ran but we were CONSTANTLY adjusting the carburetor.
yeah those carbs are hassles
Believe it or not, I have that same weed eater brand weed eater and I just fired it up last week for its 20th mowing season, it’s like the weed eater that won’t die only thing I’ve done to it it put new fuel lines in it
glad you had good luck with it!

yeah. this weed eater was made by mtd which owns most yard things
Echo sounds like it just needs a tuning. I’ve had to tune mine. You’ll need a double d tune driver
The echo head is fine. There are 4 screws on top, take them out then you put precut string in it then put them back in
Where is this place
Well me being a a 12 year old mini mechanic I need to know a good place to get these? Any tips? Btw where do you go dumpster diving?
Just look at any scrapyard. I go to my local transfer stations
My uncle just gave me an echo similar to that one, I was looking up carb clean video, may just run some fuel through, I think the previous owner said it might of got water in the gas.

You sell em at least? If so, how much?
I like the echo alot and I thought you would get the weed eater running but good job doing your best and I have another white outdoor riding mower for sale
Thanks and good luck selling the white
Thanks
The head is supposed to be like that. It’s supposed to have 1 really thick piece of string pushed through the two holes
the Echo sounds like it has a clogged spark aresstor screen in the muffler and as for the weed eater try putting a thick rich mixture and let it to soak and then carefully pull on the cord and another option you could try is seeing if the pull cord got caught on the flywheel from the pulley rotor
I think the weedeater one was supposed to take 40.1 gas oil mix.
The green one looks like a McCulloch 210 trim mac.
Clean plug, and filter on it, and throw some good fuel in.
Scored one good trimmer can't complain.
yep
Great pick
thanks
Nice find! Echo is most favorite weed eater! Did you sell the Sabre yet or not!
thanks! Sold the sabre for $80

My first motor that I repaired was a echo srm-210 there great trimmers
they are
Great video!!
Thanks
The original owner removed the guard off the weed eater branded one. It did NOT come from the factory like that.
Not a cheap Echo. They sell it the way you had it for people who prefer that method (me) and they offer an optional spool head. I bought the head at a discount and have never even opened it.
The head on the echo is supposed to be that way the strings are held in and can only be pulled out from inside
Yes so glad got posted!
Me too lol
I saw a weed eater at a flee market and I didn’t even bother with it cause it looked junk and the front was snapped off
Great vid
thanks
your lucky you can take things from the bins. The dump guys near me hate when we take things out of the bins.
Luckily this dump is way undermanned, so they don't care what you do as long as it's not murder
The Tip where I come from Downunder you are not allowed to salvage stuff. Probably to do with OH&S stuff??. one time though someone was throwing out a mower and gave it to me, at that time it was still HIS property. all that was wrong was the recoil starter was broken and it wasnt even 2 years old.
well job done 👍🏻
thanks
i have that exact design weed eater and it uses a 40:1 mix not 50:1 which is why it may have seized
Na it siezed because some moron either tuned it too lean or just put straight gas in it. 50:1 wouldn’t make a 2 stroke swell up due to the fact because it’s still got oil in the gas
So can you just pick up stuff from scrap yards or do they charge you lol
Free
Hope your feeling well.
It's been a while.
From the last video.
feeling good, just very busy!

Thanks for all the info, that would be the easiest $100 ever if I could sell it for that! Beetles always keeping me in line, she's a strict boss
She knows best.
I have a homelite brand new and carb leaks gas everywhere, old weed eater brand, and echo, if I get echo going I'll sell others.
First, glad you got one going
Weedeater (Poulan) which is under AYP, which also makes husqvarna
MTD makes
Troybilt, some craftsman, Bolens , Remington, Murray, yardman, yard machine, hyper tough and many others

Echo problay the owner couldn't start it or they had medical problem and had to get rid of it
That's a nice echo
thanks
It may of seized because it uses 40:1 not 50:1
Weed Eater is owned by Poulan, not MTD
