- For this run I wanted to test Rampage's SA with paralysis vials and blue sharpness. The response I must say is excellent! With a little more grinding I could do sub 4, but as usual the motto is "until the official TA Wiki is announced it's useless to try so hard".

Finally, a speedrunner who carves.
Never realised how fluid SA is in Rise. Gonna have to take it for a spin

Insane run, so much to digest and learn from
Note: This run uses a custom set of rules with the intent of getting closer to the spirit of the TA Wiki Rules, which have not yet been announced. Edit: TA Wiki Rules now are online and my ruleset it's in line with the official regulation.
The rules I used:
- No palico
- No Palamute
- No traps
- No capture
- No endemic life for damage (blight bugs, blast toad, ecc.)
- No flashbug / Screaming Pod
- No Pokémon Battle
- Riding only to slam the monster one time
- No buff butterflies on purpose

Weakener and Booster were allowed in Iceborne, so I think they will be allowed in Rise too

That thick blue sharpness has to be great for SA, no worries about eating through it too quickly.

Nice run. You also seem to be the first speedrunner I see who actually uses the Forward Overhead Slash commonly. It's so powerful, I dunno why others aren't using it. It's easily the best draw attack and distance-closing attack the weapon has.
The Forward Overhead Slash is a situational move. Not for the attack itself, but rather for the limited attacks that can be chained: overhead slash (slow), fade slash (situational as well) and the doble slash morph attack (which it's hard to land sometimes). However, I still think it is a very useful move, but as with so many other attacks on the Switch Ax you have to do a lot of practice to understand when to use it!
@@Benjiboi I know. I do think it's beneficial to overal DPS when used well in the right situations though. It's not that much slower than rolling and then drawing into sword mode to approach. If an enemy is expected to move away before you can do the double slash, then it's more beneficial to use the FOS for more damage instead. But I see a lot of speedrunners still resorting to the instant sword-mode draw attack even for situations where the FOS would be more beneficial.

Have you looked into Volvidon SA for Paralysis too Benji? I think it ends up at higher raw and para, although you'll have to deal with Polish which may be a turn off
Yeah, i generally dislike Polish, so I prefered the long blue sharpness of the Rampage. And I am satisfied of the result. Also, I tested the Ibushi. I think it's the strongest option for the Bazel (at least for my charms), but it has one huge problem: Power Phial sucks!
@@Benjiboi Respect my power phial! Also non-elemental boost works on sword mode? In MHW, with those type of phials non-elemental boost only worked on axe because it doesn't get any boost from the phial.
@@nershkat Yes it works. I think it's because the rampage skill "non elemental" works differently from MHW

I have been practicing Bazel with the barioth SA and my best time its like 7:56.
I can`t belive that rampage SA with para phial its the better option.

Mmm, the better option depends on your charms too. I got good results with Barioth and Ibushi too. In the end I used the Rampage just to do some test, and got a very good time I think!
Have you tried cooked fish? I think the amount of damage you've taken in this run is sustainable with cooked fish so you don't need to spend time on taking pots.
Those take serious hits during ZSD is a huge problem

Are you on one of the emulators or using a switch?
I have my switch connected to TV and at times GU looks higher quality
I'm playing from a Nintendo Switch, no emulator. Probably it's just your TV or maybe is how my capture card records the image!
I was excited about the set until I saw the talisman. No way I'm getting that lucky.
Rapid Morph lvl 2 + blast resistance lvl 2 + 2 lvl 2 slots? It's good yes, but not so rare. There a lot of charm much more powerful!
Just a heads up, I would recommend the Lagombi Arms instead of the Kaiser Arms when using CritEye 7, it gives you an extra level 1 slot.
With this set I've already maxed out all the lvl 1 skills I need. So instead of having an extra useless lvl 1 slot I opted for a piece of armor with a little bit more of raw and fire defense.

Bump this. If swaxe has a guard point and i didn't know I'm about to be shook.
It's the silk bind move "Switch Charger". Not only it refill the gauge of the sword mode, but also gives some invincibility frames at the start of the animation.
@@Benjiboi oh thanks for the info I didn't actually know :o I've been too evasive with it then bc I mostly use it to charge+reposition myself

Not a fan of weapons with negative affinity and exaust phial
You should try Conqueress with every Exhaust skill and Phial up Rampage skill. The monster will not be able to attack you :)

Is power phial the worst type of phial now? It takes forever to get to amped state, and it doesn't do much more damage than the status phials....
It has been reworked to need more hits to fill it up now but, there's a new buff to help it for abit. do an axe slam after your wild swing combo, X > A A A > X, your amp gauge will turn orange regardless if you hit a monster with the slam, this is increase the amount of gauge when you attack in sword mode
You can also press Zr after the slam to do rapid double morphing slash for extra damage and gauge gain
Nice run. Loved it. Question though. What skill activated at 3:15 where bazel is hitting your head and you shine. I saw it was wondering what it was.
I'd say it's the food buff "Dango Defender (HI)" 🍡. At least it's the only skill I can see which could proc.

How did you perform the (jump on the monster, stick to it and keep stabbing it) move? Its awesome!
X+A when your gauge is lightening , then keep stabbing on X. If the gauge is not lightening, it wouldn't stick
And only if you have elemental discharge switch skill, on you cannot perform this if compressed elemental discharge is on
Seeing the switch moves in action is sick but I chose not to actually go the rapid morph route. I decided instead of putting my skills and slots into rapid morph I’d rather have crit and attack. I know people are raving about how good rapid morph is but I like to just pick and choose which weapon is better for certain situations

Rampage Switch Axe. Upgrade: sharpness 3, elementless, para phials
It's at the very bottom of the weapon tree. I think it unlocks after you reach High Rank.
