    I bought a small ornamental pineapple plant at Home Depot about 6 years ago and have been raising and harvesting pineapples ever since. Mine are small in size, but super sweet. After all this time, I still I learned a lot about the process of raising pineapples from your informative and helpful video. Thank you!

      @@nokufikagracekhanye8255 I will try to help. I suspect they are either getting too much water, or the soil isn't right. The other possible culprit could be grubs eating the roots. I have had these kinds of problems with my plants before.

    For anyone who doesn't know: take a whole pineapple with you to the beach or out on the boat. Towards the hottest part of the day, right when you come out of the water and still have that ocean taste in your mouth; cut up and eat that fresh pineapple. It will be one of the most delicious things you will ever eat. Learned this on my first dive.

    My great grandparents grew pines on Elliotts Key in the 1880’s. I grew up growing pines in Coconut Grove in the fifties. You can twist off the fruit from the plant and also the head from the fruit. I live in Gainesville now and grow them in cloth pots so I can move them out of seasonal torrential rain and seasonal freezes. I also add cut up banana peels, coffee grounds and egg shells for jacking up the soil. If you leave the fruit on the plant after it gets yellow and let it turn slightly bronze on the bottle, the sugar turns to alcohol. Yummy taste. You didn’t mention pulling the lower leaves off the heads to expose the baby roots and putting in water for a week. Also, the core has the most nutrition.I use them in my nutritional shakes.
    Great video, thank you.

    Twisting the top of the pineapple is the preferred way to remove its top instead of cutting it off. Pineapples are one of the few fruits that do not continue to ripen (develop sweetness) after it is picked, so leaving it to completely turn yellow on the plant is ideal in terms of its sugar content.

      Lets not forget pineapples are the highest in enzymatic activity, digestively speaking, and those enzymes are best expressed in under ripe green fruit. If you're serious, wash an under ripe green pineapple, blend or juice with the skin on (zero waste), and serve over a block of ice, mixed fifty /fifty with freshly pressed wheatgrass juice. This will #1 knock your socks off and #2 cure melanoma and basocelluar cancers. I am living proof.

      I can get roots indoors in water-
      But transplanting then - or throwing straight into dirt-
      Nope! Never happens like that

    • @jillellis62
      @jillellis62 ปีที่แล้ว

      But where she’s at, they’ve surely got some good sand mixed in the dirt which is needed & the perfect level of heat for it

    • @SpikeG571
      @SpikeG571 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jillellis62 I respectfully disagree. It IS that easy. I have had only one failure in 30+ attempts and that is without using any of what this video teaches for dirt, acidity, fertilizer, drying out the roots, etc. I am excited to apply this new knowledge and increase the output. Not trying to be contrary but I don't want @monkabuda to be discouraged. Try it, you'll like it!

    Like the Video! 👍 I did learn a few things about the plant itself. Only once, did I let a plant continue to grow, after harvest. It did grow another pineapple off the side. I didn't know about twisting that sucker off. I will have to try that method.
    I have been growing pineapples for a lot of years in Wyoming. Keep 3 or 4 growing at all times. Would have more if I had more windows. Mine never get very big though. But are superb tasting over store bought. I don't quite have as long of direct sunlight. Lot of the time, not good temp's. I did try grow lights. But it didn't really seem to help.
    I just twist my crown off by hand. Then pull off several rows of leaves and dry. Never had a plant fail to grow. I never did repot my plants. Just using about a 2-1/2 gallon pot. What fits in the window. I will have to try your pot mix ratio. Wasn't much info. when I started growing, years back. I will also have to try and repot to a bigger pot next time around. Have a golf ball sized cutie rising now.
    Thanks for the video!

    Great job Darcizzle! I was very impressed with your delivery and I don't want anyone to think I'm kissing butt- but hear me out- Do you remember Steve Irwin? Of course you do, but it's his wife Terri Raines that I thought I was hearing from the other room. I was happy to see that it was you! What's funny is, is that I think you and Terri have the same cadence with your delivery. Both you and Terri have a beautiful way of, I don't want to say 'teaching' because I'm a little bummed on the word these days, let's say that you take an artists approach in your conveyance of taking an idea and elevating it to action! Simply put, you relayed to us your knowledge about how to grow pineapples in a way that it stuck in my mind in a way that very few teachers ever accomplished. Bravo -I'd watch another for sure

    recommendation on cutting pineapple. The meat closest to the skin is the sweetest. I like how she cuts the skin of thin, but...leave the spots, they are tender enough that they don't affect the texture of the fruit. If interested, there are seeds behind those spots. Little black seeds. You can plant them if you want to wait 5-7 years for a fruit, but the advantage of that is, your whole pinapple plot won't be clones of each other (making disease even easier to wipe out your pineapples).
