Very helpful, I have a 1000 with a hand full of hours and it was surging at idol, tried sea foam, ran it, let it sit a couple days but no joy so I did someTLC to the idol jet and fixed it right up, I volunteer SAR communications so the equipment needs to run.

Thanks for that great video. I neglected to drain the gas 12 months ago and the generator started, but it was running rough. I drained the gas, put fresh gas in and it still ran rough. I followed your video and took apart the carburetor and cleaned all the jets. I put everything back together and the generator fired right up and is running great. Thanks so much!
I took also removed the jets from inside the bowl and throat of carb. I ran a thin bristle through all of the holes. Might as well since you have it all apart anyhow.
dont have to with the acid. it boils it out brand new. also be very carefull not to force something threw. you can widen the jet and make it run rich or break your object off into it. either way you feel like is fine. i have found doing it with the acid is easiest and does a better job.
At 3:48 you point at the black screw idle jet? I sent mine to a shop and they didn't count the turns to fully seated...how many turns from fully seated should it be? Mine is running at a very low rpm
yes but thats not why it isnt running at higher rpm while producing power. im betting the throttle arm it pushes is sticking and needs to be oiled and moved around a bit.
Oh man, that was super important to pull the cord several times to let the gas cycle through. I wouldn't have thought of that. I just found one of these that a tenant left behind and it's fouled up. The gas tank is filled with old two-stroke mixture. I can get the tank and carb nice and clean, but I wouldn't have thought of how much of that old gunk is still in the pump and hoses! Thanks!
@@wendelldobbins7421 so that's not the issue then. Carb needs to come back off. Needle valve under float is leaking still. You need to clean needle valve again.
I have one of these that will only run for about 3 seconds and only on choke. Initially it had gas in the oil. So I cleaned the carb as in your video but it won’t stay running. Any suggestions?
oil full? it has to be full to the top. after that id say you gotta do the carb again. sometimes i have to do them many times. just how it goes sometimes. make sure you clean all very well you may need to pull a wire out of a wire wheel and poke the jets and holes

Could this be the issue why my Honda kept shutting off my shop vac? Honda continued to run but shop vac would go on and off
No. Sounds like a bad electrical connection. Also a vacuum uses alot of amps and watts . I think your generator may be to small

That is an idle screw. so when running and eco mode on nothing plugged in you turn it till your desired idle.

My gen is only working half choke and working badly with more than 500W connected. I cleaned carb, should I try clean it again?
yes jet is either still dirty or you have bad gas. more than likely jet isnt cleaned well enough

Couldn't get mine started, followed your instructions and it runs great now, but I have a gas leak at the carb gasket..it looks ok..new gasket?
what gasket is leaking?
@@smallengineguys the gasket that's exposed when you take the two 8 millimeter bolts off and pull the carb

yeah that gasket should only seal the air filter assembly to the carb. only air no fuel.

I did everything you said works perfectly but gas leak overflow ...someday knows why
Sounds like needle valve is leaking clean carb again.
