I’ve been planning and working toward this one for some time, and it’s so exciting to see things get started. I put a lot of work into this video, so I hope you all enjoyed it. I can’t wait to share what’s next for this space and other projects I just made room for. Have a great weekend SerpaSquad!
was just wondering if you have any plans for a long, narrow and high tank? Like a rockwall, with some small fauna making the best of the 1 dimension limited space.
Hey Tanner, This shelving looks soooooo much better. The uniformity is not only more functional for you, but I think it helps to frame all the aquariums to look like one big ecosystem, even though they are all separate systems. It kind of looks like you have cut cubes out of a certain water environment in different ways. Having all the filters directly on the floor is much easier to deal with, especially when you have water spilling when doing filter maintenance, which on its own is a huge improvement. Plus you don't have any worries about getting the wood on any of the shelves wet and possibly weakening the joints in the shelving structure. Best of all if you have water come out of the filters, its on the floor and is much easier to clean up. LOOKS GREAT MAN! Matt - Toronto, Canada
I wish you would use all of your existing setups for more content. Like MD Fish Fanks does it. It would be nice to get to know the animals, the setups and just follow along on your journey. I think the way you only invite us in when you create something new is getting perhaps a little repetitive? I vote for you to do some more follow-ups, maybe some maintenance videos, some more low fidelity stuff. 👍
That's one of the things that keeps me coming back to this channel. The animal keeping is great, but no other channel combines it with carpentry and construction. It's amazing to watch.
Your views on pet care . I hope you understand that you are teaching old and new generations what the standard to strive for is. This shows the respect and love for the lives you have accepted into your care. So much respect, so many of us people have for you. You make people want to learn and be better caregivers to our plants and animals. Thank you from an old lady, for doing more than your share to improve all types of living things lives. And giving people options that improve their own lives by having something to take pride in doing well. And a reason to keep doing it on those bad days we all have. Reasons for living can be big or small. But each is a step foward. You impact lives with every video. 😊
You started building your animal room 2 years ago?? Omg it feels like you just moved! Time flies, and you have accomplished so much in a pretty short period Tanner ❤
One of my favorite things about your videos is how much woodcraft you do. Your work is magnificent and precise yet in the background and enhances all your beautiful friends
You have inspired me so much. I'm currently planning to do a 125 gallon paludarium like yours but instead of toads it will be filled with peninsula newts and I'm very exited to start building it
The tranquility and oasis like feel of this room is absolutely breathtaking. You have become amazing in your craftsmanship over the years. I love watching ❤😊❤
Awesome upgrade! I laughed at Sampson’s butt! 😂 So much goes into maintaining these ecosystems. You are a teaching us how to improve on our own setups. Thank you. I could watch the shrimp and fish all day. Just a beautiful room full of life. ❤
Wow, Tanner - that looks incredibly cohesive! I'd honestly put a lounger in there so I could nap, the atmosphere is so soothing. My favourite tank was always my bedroom saltwater setup, it's lovely being able to drift off while watching the water pets.
Excellent upgrades all around! And all the fish and shrimp look really happy with all that maintenance too! I REALLY like the magnetic catches on all the doors. Really completes that clean no hardware visible look you were going for.
That was the quickest and most nonchalant reference to veneer I've ever seen in a builder / maker's video... and I love it. Most of the videos I watch are actually restoration videos and veneer is a complete nightmare as far as I've seen, but something new like this? The veneer 100% makes sense if you're using stained plywood in this application, I get it!
I know you've probably answered this a million times and I just missed it, but some questions I've had watching these over the years: 1. What is your daily/weekly upkeep on this many setups and how much have you been able to automate? 2. If someone is going to start getting into more complex setups, what are the 3-5 mistakes or issues that are easy to avoid and easier to make? Love your stuff. Amazing setup. Keep it up!
@@89Johneboy I've never seen a video where he discusses how much of his new basement setup he has automated and how much time it takes to maintain all of it. And since he has just recently made this many setups, it would be impossible for him to have answered it in the past. Also, he's provided countless tips and tricks to help people getting deeper into the hobby. Far more than the handful I'm asking that would be at the top, especially in regards to the mistakes that are easy to avoid and easy to make. If I'm mistaken and it's that obvious based on the content, try answering instead of being condescending. Cheers.
@@GLCore123 but what are feedings like for the ones that need it? Are they automated in any way? Are there specific things that tell him something needs to be done vs something he wants done? Even if you only did water cycles on a tank every month, if you have 40 tanks that needs to be coordinated somehow. Just interested.
1. Daily upkeep consists of feeding and water, which takes about 10-15 minutes. I don't do much automation unless I'm traveling because it disconnects me the processes and potentially introduce issues that otherwise wouldn't occur. I do water changes and maintenance as need, which usually monthly and takes a few hours. 2. Make setups in a way that mechanical components are easily accessible for maintenance. Include plants and other biological process that do the work for you, so you have to do less. Build a "collection" slowly so you never amass more than you can handle.
Wonderful! Thanks for the peaceful entertainment, with such brilliant ideas that we all want to emulate. I’ve enjoyed every single one I’ve watched. Best wishes from Marti in Boston, UK
Tanner, your skills are phenomenal! Not only are you great at building things, you also know what all the plants and animals need to thrive! It's always so satisfying to watch you work!
Absolutely incredible work. Having tried my hand at aquascaping (and kind of failing), I can appreciate how much goes into this, and I’m beyond impressed- not to mention your building skills. Truly beautiful!
Those new racks are *sleek*! I've always loved the racks you build because they're gorgeous, but you really have taken them to the next level with these new builds
Your artistic talent never ceases to amaze me ! I don’t think that I would ever leave the area that you have so beautifully created. A nice cozy chair or two in the viewing area and I would be all set. 🌺💚🙃
Tanner, another amazing video! Thanks for showing more of your stand building process. You're always inspiring my wife and I to make new things in new and creative ways.
Looks fantastic. Those new shelves are going to make life much simpler and more beautiful. Your habitats are such lush, peaceful environments. Your animals are lucky ❤
You absolutely killed it with that build. I know how you feel loosing space by not placing tanks all the way to the ground. But I decided years ago it just wasnt worth the extra row. The ones on the bottom would always end up getting neglected by accident, harder to maintain, temp fluctuations etc.etc.etc. So at the end of the day i also just felt like there was to many cons with tanks on the ground and not enough pros to justify it. But thanks for sharing, as always your content is inspirational.
How has it already been 2 years since the new place..? I remember watching the early days of that move to the new house and feeling the stress for you. It must feel so nice to have come this far and looking back at the journey.
I know! Yes and no. I'm still not moved in because of how much I have to work, but things are finally coming together. That's why it took so long to finally start making racks designed for this room.
It's funny, but none of the animals seem to care. I try not to interact with them and just "be a part of their environment" so maybe they don't see me as threat.
Awesome video. I like it when you show the woodworking portions and would appreciate more of that content for new ideas. I know you try to focus on the plants and animals but the stand construction is equally as interesting imo. Thank you for the inspiration!

I really liked the white sand, but the brown sand really does look so much better. The way you can so easily envision these changes for the better speaks to your skills and taste!
My mom and I are gonna attempt an enclosure for our bearded dragon together, using your videos as inspiration and a bit of guidance (while doing research of course). Your content is so, SO important. So many more people are starting to adopt exotic pets, and unfortunately most don’t do the research needed to properly provide. I love your attention to detail, and your consideration of the animal’s mental as well as physical health. Awesome work, as always! Now dont mind me while I binge your videos 😂
The glow light tetra tank would look cool with a school of corydoras cruising around the sand, The red sand was definitely the way to go. Awesome setups!
You are an inspiration! I dream of one day having a big room full of terrarriums, aquariums and paladariums like your garage. Right now I live in an 80m2 apartment and managed to fit about 6 terrariums, 1 paladarium and 1 aquarium by being space smart and talking a lot with my wife to convince her that I can make it look pretty anyways, somehow I managed to convince her. But one day I dream to triple or quadruple that amount! Thanks for your videos, they make me dream far ahead.
Amazing video as always! When shopping for lumber you can usually find better quality at your local lumber yard if you have one nearby, compared to the big box stores.
I really hope to be able to have some more space so I can have a fraction of the lovely animal world you have created. So far in my apartment I have only a gargoyle gecko tank but in the future I am excited to have much more.
