oh damn this is actually a REALLY good take on the roaring. it’d make the endgame areas feel super weird and interesting and we could even do the thing where for the last level of the game all the previous area themes come back in a weird mishmash, if chapter 7’s dark world was The Closet or something like that. THAT is something that i think is weird and interesting enough to be a satisfying narrative payoff for this game, i’ve never really heard any ideas or speculation for the finale that come close to being this cool
This is a really cool underrated theory! I find it very, very interesting toby put so much effort into making the block trees the same object. I haven’t actually seen a theory go so in depth into trees, even though it makes a ton of sense that they would be important!
Thought I might as well add, both Jevil and Spamton are fought (at least besides Snowgrave) in the darkest part of the chapter, which warps around you during the fight in ways that don't make sense. Jevil in the deepest, most distant, most dark cage in the back of the bottom of the card castles prison basement, which warps to resemble a revolving carousel ride (IIRC, image is hard to comprehend outside of files), and Spamton in the Queen's basement, also in a far secluded edge, down quite a bit of stairs and etc., which warps to resemble an expansive decrepit city with an endless rollercoaster (the fight ends in the otherwise unused room to the left of the tracks, there's some shenanigans involved for sure). What if this "darker than dark" related to the shadow crystals/secret bosses somehow?
OMG right I didn't realize that!!! Thanks so much for pointing that out! The line "The darker it gets, the more you can see" might imply that the secret bosses are in dark places to see more (meaning to know more through what the shadow crystals show them!) I LOVE THIS THEORY AAA! Dark places make things more magical and nonsensical because I bet that Darkness = Magic. Both are mega important concepts in deltarune and in case you know the theory "What happened to deltarune's magic?" By JaruJaruJ, this all makes sense and is very, very interesting...
Im thinking the Shadow Crystals act like mini-fountains that scale with how powerful the user is. I bet Spamton's shop was made with the crystal but due to him being weak its all glitchy
I’m very suprised that this seems to be the first theory to acknowledge that berdly tried to make a dark fountain in a dark world, And ralsei panicking implies that is in fact possible to do, I wonder why no one else drew attention to that?
Quick thing! In the giga queen battle, Queen says she’s going to use Noelle to create NEO dark fountains. While this can just be interpreted as new dark fountains, we know it’s possible from ralseis reaction to create a dark world inside a dark world. Instead of calling it a “darkener” world, I think the term Neo dark world fits better.
Darkerners, it's like a higher dimensional being... well, maybe lower dimensional in a sense? You can only even percieve them when you reach the same "level" of darkness as they exist on This makes me think, if darkness in Deltarune is meant to represent fiction and dreams, basically the unreal, as opposed to Light Worlds being reality, i wonder if you keep going darker you eventuakly reach Non-existence itself, maybe that's where Gaster is?
You know, I never really took the time to consider how straight up weird this whole section was. My focus was more how you can press the switch and Ralsei will be like "What?", but I never considered the whole room in general. This has definitely caught my attention and I will put it on my list to commit to memory. So like, a section for the game to be Darker in the Dark world, and seeing the Darker of a Darker Dark world, a Stark difference so far. A look behind the veil to see how pitch the blacks can be come. Interesting. (Also, thanks for the Shout Out)
Something else I noticed in this room last minute that maybe warrants a video itself are the puzzle instructions. Specifically the Eye Puzzle, The Great Board timing thing, and of course the Blocktree room The Eye Puzzle sign says: “In this world, only eyes blinded by Darkness can see the way...” The Great Board one says: “(When you step into the light, you’ll return to where you once were before.)” And the Blocktree one that’s in this video says: “(Revolve around the center, and look carefully.) (The darker it gets, the more you can see.)” People have speculated about the Eye one but the Eye Puzzle Sign is very similar to the Blocktree Sign Both describing how you can only see when it’s Dark, and Darker allowing us to see more But the Great Board Sign is also very interesting Talking about LIGHT of all things. I think it’s strange that a Darkworld “Puzzle” would use Light to bring you back to where you were before. And this thing with Light also happens in Castle Town in Chapter 2, except that is a lot of light and it brings you back to the Light World I haven’t looked in Chapter 2 for anything but I think only the Darkbulb puzzle in Queen’s Mansion is strange like this. It seems like sight in Dark Worlds may be from “Negative Photons” or something, which would make Entry Number 17 line up with Toby’s use of double meanings “Photon Readings Negative” for 0 Photons and also for inverse Photons or something Anyways I love your videos they’re really good! Keep up the good work and good luck watching the 6 hour Device Theory on Saturday that is going to be crazy
@@boxbing The one thing that comes to mind for chapter two is the light puzzle that you need to put the shapes in the place to match the light theming. There is that line from Berdly about "I need to figure out Why the shapes don't go together." with very obvious subtext. Other than that I think that most of the puzzles in chapter two are just more computer based. The spelling one is about encryption, the Acid Tunnel ones are logic gates, etc. Doesn't mean there isn't anything to find- there is obviously a major piece of foreshadowing that we all just glanced at and forget about- much like giant robot in the middle of queens palace. I can not wait to sit for six hours, thirty one minutes, and fifty five seconds.
Totally agree that the sign is foreshadowing. The little maze is also in the shape of an eye, and to solve the puzzle you have to spiral around it. Reminds me of the trance that we put Noelle under in the weird route. There's an interesting tension there -- we might see more in the dark, but is what we see really "true", or good?
Ayyy I loved the video about Suspension of Disbelief that you made To build off of that, if the Roaring is when it gets Darker and Darker, then "We'd see more in the dark" by having each room in a Darkworld become it's own Darkworld, multiplying the size and quantity of what we can see. And then it gets even more Darker and we see more and more until the lines between what was once the Lightworld and Darkworld become heavily blurred, almost like a barren wasteland like where we see the Fun Gang appear in "World's Edge". It would be like fiction writing fiction that continues this cycle until it's unrecognizable and abstract. So what if then the lines between Reality and Fiction are blurred so much that our immersion in the story that like in your video the meta-narrative is able to be woven into the narrative How this would be I'm not sure but whatever Toby has planned, even if it doesn't go as far as many hope, it will be good hopefully that was comprehensible, this video pales in absurdity to other ideas I have
@@boxbing Aww thanks. I love that. "Fiction writing fiction" -- I believe it. Feels almost recursive, like a cascade of darkness that collapses the wall between fiction and reality. I'd love Deltarune to go in that direction and see its take on the abstract and the surreal.
7:10 that is actually very (very) interesting I never thought about that. What I imagine would happen is that all of the chapter 2 darkners will just turn into stone since they dont belong but its still interesting to think about how that will play out.
It seems like it was more work to correct every single number in post rather than just make the corrections to the script and re-record it But honestly, I commend it, it's funnier that way.
i know this has nothing to do with the theory and ive only watched 10 seconds but i had a dream about deltarune ( i can't even remember it was like a sub dream thing where you can't even remember when you're in the moment of dreaming ) and i woke up feeling that deltarune is just a figment of our collective imagination ( i still feel that a bit but it less intense ) and this tree really has that feeling for me
I wonder if there’s any connection with these puzzles (and how you get to the egg man) and how Noelle was talking about in her sweepstakes page how for her to get to the secret area, she had to “go in every direction possible, and then up.” I’m probably reaching, but *Technically* how you get to the tree room is going left and right, which are the *only* directions you can go, plus how you illuminate the “darker-ner” tree is by going in circles, which *is* technically every direction, and then up towards the now illuminated tree. Plus, *also* most likely reaching, but when Ralsei says “how did you know that was there, Kris?” I kind of interpret that as Ralsei already knowing that the tree was there, plus with the sign saying “the darker it is, the more you see.” And with Ralsei already being a darkner, I feel like he might see stuff that we can’t, plus that dialogue seems to only happen when *we* already know that the switch is there, so maybe it’s just him saying “how did you *already* know that that was there?” In a meta way. Or not! Maybe I’m wrong, who knows!
The Noelle Blog posts are very (very) interesting. And it is kind of a stretch but most secrets involve going in every possible direction, Starwalker has us go backwards after ringing the bell instead of proceeding to the next room, the Egg rooms are found by going back and forth between rooms (of the 2 that we know, they have a tell, when the music restarts when entering one room, in the Ch1 it’s re-entering the Starwalker room, Ch2 is entering the Thornring room) Then Snowgrave is done by going the opposite direction immediately So direction will likely be important, I just don’t know how you’d go “up” in a 2 dimensional game like Deltarune (and I’m assuming Dragon Blazers is similar) Sure you click, scroll all the way down, click, then scroll all the way up to get to that room where you can read the blog post so whatever it is, it’ll be unique. (Also the missing party member part could be a part of the Weird Route if that continues) Anyways Ralsei seems to know more than he should for someone who has supposedly never left Castle Town. Many others have thought about this but I think that he knows about the main events and maybe puzzles, and knows that there’s supposed to be time to have a talk with Kris. I suspect he’s more than an average Darkner as in the Legend it shows him cloaked as one of the trio, after the world has drawn her final breath, likely meaning Ralsei lives through the Roaring Of course, all of this could be wrong but it’s interesting to think about
@@boxbing If you don’t mind, I have my own thoughts on the roaring! To keep it short (since I tend to ramble) During the prophecy in Ch1, when it talks about the roaring, *immediately after* it describes it, it says “*Only then*, shining with hope, three heroes appear at worlds edge.” And we know it goes on to say “*Only they* have the power to close the fountains, and banish the angels heaven” and “*Only then* will balance be restored”. Which, from *my* interpretation, sounds like the roaring is *supposed* to happen, and that we’re *Only* supposed to show up when the roaring happens. Furthermore, Ralsei has mentioned several times that we’re supposed to “fulfill the ancient prophecy *foretold by time and space*” and that our adventure is “a journey foretold *exactly* by the prophecy” which, is *very* specific and sounds to me like everything that the prophecy that he has told us will happen no matter what. *So*, if that’s *true*, then *why does Ralsei want to prevent the roaring at all costs?* If it sounds like we’re supposed to show up *Shining with Hope* and save the world when the roaring happens, why does Ralsei make it sound like it’s *hopeless* to even try when he’s giving his speech to berdly? I could go on, but I think I’ll stop here!
i honestly didnt think much about that room until i saw this video. i respect your theory and would like to share mine. i think that the trees represent the darkners slowly turning into stone when more fountains are opened and so the roaring has started. ralsei too is a darkener from what we know and he too turns dark so he too turns to stone unlike kris that being a lightener remains as he is. the tree might represent the titans. thanks for reading this. keep up the good work.
I enjoy your custom Dess. I personally do think the NPC is a living tree, but I'm not willing to believe its a darker-ner. I think its just a living object in the same way Pawniards are. I think this room is foreshadowing, but only because of the line "The darker it gets, the more you see". Pair this with the Shard of Glass, and I think the idea is that darkness is not what Obscures.
Very good video! I look forward to more, deltarune or otherwise. The algorithm only brought me here because of Deltarune but looking around your other stuff is good too! Keep making makes, I'll stick around to see whatever happens
Could the limited placement of the Block Trees have to do with how it changes function drastically if placed in certain ranges of positions? The theory about "Darkerners" ("Darkeners"?) is interesting, too. Dark Fountains seem to animate the inanimate, & the NPC Block Tree is an animate, somewhat anthropomorphized Block Tree. What does that mean for Darkners, who are already animate? Trees are technically already "alive". Anyway, interesting analysis video! Thanks for uploading! I do wonder what your liquid magic theory will be like.
What if Ralsei is actually the titan in the middle of the other two titans during the roaring explanation which is why he knows so much about the roaring and the titans because he is one of the titans
so is animacy a level of lightness, and dark things become animate in a dark world, where new inanimate things appear, but these new inanimate things become animate in a darker world? Sounds like a resonance cascade in the making
The only thing I absolutely disagree with is that you said darkners would turn into stone in the Darker World. This doesn't happen when lightners go down to the Dark World and the soul (which is supposed to be from the real world, one layer of reality above the Light World) goes down two layers of reality down. Everything this game is about suggests that a darkner going down to the Darker World wouldn't make them turn into stone.
I like what you're saying, the only reason I think they would turn to stone is due to the Roaring itself saying that all the Darkners turn to stone. However that of course conflicts with the idea that similar to how Lightners can go to a Dark World and only change slightly but not turn to stone. What I think could happen but it's more of a stretch would be that Darkners turn to stone because they change a lot more drastically than Lightners do, with their magical form being amplified even more to get further away from a physical form. Example: Since Lancer is a card with a somewhat magical form of Darkness, in the Darker World that Darkness makes Lancer become larger and more developed sorta like King, but the form is unstable and he turns to stone. It'd kinda be like the Amalgamates of Undertale but instead of not physical Monsters being given something that requires a physical form to handle (Determination), it's Darkners that barely have a physical form being given a new form that's even further from the original physical object. If the Roaring and simply being in a Darker World have separate rules to turning to stone then your point should definitely work and you can ignore that last paragraph about what I thought, instead the Darkners would change slightly like Lightners did when in a Dark World and they'd be fine. Of course there's other things like Ralsei to consider (maybe being made of "Pure Darkness" from "Castle Town's Grand Fountain" has something to do with that (I think Dantes-Integrity said something similar to this in their recent job that needs to be done about Ralsei, somewhere that talked about "light" and Dark Worlds having their own "unique light" but Castle Town has all of the "light" mixed together so it can support all Darkners) Anyways this Darker than Dark World thing is very likely going to happen eventually so we'll see what happens but perhaps both are right, Darkners can exist in a Darker World made within their own Dark World but the Roaring is unique in a way that makes all Darkners incompatible. In theory you should be right about Darkners not turning to stone when going a layer of reality down (and also it would be much cooler to see cooler versions of normal Darkners) ...the Story of the Roaring and everyone turning to stone could also just be false but that's no fun for theorizing, like saying the Knight is a new never before seen character with no relations to any existing ones
Oh yes, this absolutely has prime foreshadowing potential, same as much of the introduction area ("Only eyes blinded by darkness may see the way"). I never thought about the possibility of the Tree creature being some kind of "Advanced Darkner" but that does make a fair bit of sense! The fact that this room is connected with the Egg room makes it seem more significant as well. "Not too important, not too unimportant."
You made a few mistakes editing wise... 1. The first Music Banner doesn't disappear fully 0:06 2. You didn't explain the chair at 3:52 The title of the web browser starts as "But what if it could..." and clicking on the chair makes the title change to "...get darker than dark?" There's your explanation, making 2 mentions and 1 attempt at making a Darkworld within a Darkworld 3. You didn't take the time to go back to get this specific dialogue at 4:24 4. The text should've stayed there when the Music Banner showed up at 6:13 5. Also the use of the Chair at 11:03 barely relates to your currently in progress Liquid Magic Theory, should've used the bottom of the cloud during the end scene in Chapter 2 and say that it's Liquid Magic instead Other than that you should've said that the thing you were using at the end of the video to mess with the room and code is UndertaleModTool That's about it, have a great day and Don't Forget I'm With You in the Dark~ (because I am you)

*So*, if that’s *true*, then *why does Ralsei want to prevent the roaring at all costs?*
If it sounds like we’re supposed to show up *Shining with Hope* and save the world when the roaring happens, why does Ralsei make it sound like it’s *hopeless* to even try when he’s giving his speech to berdly?
I could go on, but I think I’ll stop here!
i honestly didnt think much about that room until i saw this video. i respect your theory and would like to share mine. i think that the trees represent the darkners slowly turning into stone when more fountains are opened and so the roaring has started. ralsei too is a darkener from what we know and he too turns dark so he too turns to stone unlike kris that being a lightener remains as he is. the tree might represent the titans. thanks for reading this. keep up the good work.
The liquid magic theory sounds awesome, great video!
Weird, i remember that npc being just a regular tree when you circle around
Its funny how you were like 1 or 2 away from the actual number 🤣
Very weird but interesting theory, you got a new subscriber Berdly, keep up the good work.
I enjoy your custom Dess.
I personally do think the NPC is a living tree, but I'm not willing to believe its a darker-ner. I think its just a living object in the same way Pawniards are.
I think this room is foreshadowing, but only because of the line "The darker it gets, the more you see". Pair this with the Shard of Glass, and I think the idea is that darkness is not what Obscures.
nice video make more !!!!
i really like this idea
Very good video! I look forward to more, deltarune or otherwise. The algorithm only brought me here because of Deltarune but looking around your other stuff is good too! Keep making makes, I'll stick around to see whatever happens
Your voice is so frickin soothing! You earned my subscription
I remember seeing that tree and thinking they were weird
that was pretty interesting i enjoyed that
You are Daffy Duck.
He probably just has a speech impediment.
Smooth jazz plays
fyi this was actually a point that @mollystars made in her 6 hour device theory
Earned a sub. Great vid
I do wonder what your liquid magic theory will be like.
neat theory
i like your lisp btw,,
Deltarune fandom having another normal one, I see.
Someone give the deltarune fan base back its meds, they’re seeing faces in the trees again
Is it me or does anyone else see the legs and think hmm that's an outline for the log
Seems pretty unlikely, but it's a fun idea!
What 7 years without updates does to- wait wrong game
Of course there's other things like Ralsei to consider (maybe being made of "Pure Darkness" from "Castle Town's Grand Fountain" has something to do with that (I think Dantes-Integrity said something similar to this in their recent job that needs to be done about Ralsei, somewhere that talked about "light" and Dark Worlds having their own "unique light" but Castle Town has all of the "light" mixed together so it can support all Darkners)
Anyways this Darker than Dark World thing is very likely going to happen eventually so we'll see what happens but perhaps both are right, Darkners can exist in a Darker World made within their own Dark World but the Roaring is unique in a way that makes all Darkners incompatible.
In theory you should be right about Darkners not turning to stone when going a layer of reality down (and also it would be much cooler to see cooler versions of normal Darkners)
...the Story of the Roaring and everyone turning to stone could also just be false but that's no fun for theorizing, like saying the Knight is a new never before seen character with no relations to any existing ones
good video
a small note for the future, the music was a bit loud over your voice
meds now
Finally, tree theory
3:19 This reminds me of How It Should’ve Ended’s Inside Out video…
Ending.
"Not too important, not too unimportant."
good video and better theory
Amazing editing hahaha
i def agree that we will see a darkworld inside of a darkworld
I could def see it ngl low key
dude. i think it was just for the puzzle. /lh
if you're right in four years you can say i told you so!!!
Undertale / Deltarune content? Subscribed!!
Bro I love the [portal 2 WRONG]
You made a few mistakes editing wise...
1. The first Music Banner doesn't disappear fully 0:06
2. You didn't explain the chair at 3:52
The title of the web browser starts as "But what if it could..." and clicking on the chair makes the title change to "...get darker than dark?"
There's your explanation, making 2 mentions and 1 attempt at making a Darkworld within a Darkworld
3. You didn't take the time to go back to get this specific dialogue at 4:24
4. The text should've stayed there when the Music Banner showed up at 6:13
5. Also the use of the Chair at 11:03 barely relates to your currently in progress Liquid Magic Theory, should've used the bottom of the cloud during the end scene in Chapter 2 and say that it's Liquid Magic instead
Other than that you should've said that the thing you were using at the end of the video to mess with the room and code is UndertaleModTool
That's about it, have a great day and Don't Forget I'm With You in the Dark~
(because I am you)
cool idea
Darkerner
This video is only 11 minutes long you rerally could re-record it with the correct numbers 💀
