There is a way to do it non-destructively with pixel levels, which is how did it in Photoshop after it added adjustment layers. Just duplicate the background layer, apply whatever filter is desired, then add a black or white filled mask on that layer to either paint-in the adjustment similar to “burning-in” if using white brush on black mask or ‘dodging’ if using black brush on white filled mask. In Photoshop I created actions which with a click of a button would create black masked screen, multiply and soft light layers and another with layers for high pass sharpening and burn to selectively sharpen and soften portraits. After opening the mask to selectively apply the effects the opacity slider was adjusted in ‘Goldilocks’ style from 0 - 100% to find the point in the middle which looked just right. Different means to the same end and one requiring more memory resources on the computer but more intuitive since it mimics how masking was used back in the analog days with overlays, goldenrod masking and opaque 😊

I tried to do this in my program and nothing happened, is there and isuue with yhe software ?
i use Clarity not more than the MP i have in my Camera , the diffrence is so much a benefit
