Episode 2 - Working on the ZF 6HP19 6-Speed automatic transmission in this $1,000 BMW E60 530i in an attempt to prove that you can have budget daily driver that is also fun, not embarrassing, and enjoyable to drive.
We will get through it - or have fun chopping it up. New mediocre scanner arrived today, so will get to the garage tomorrow and hopefully get some good news for Episode 3.
I worked for a few days trying to fix the transmission issues and when I went to put it back together the ECU would no longer communicate with the trans. Worked on it some more and couldn’t figure it out. In the end I had to part it. Should make a video explaining why I think the cars are cool but not as DIY as the earlier generations.
@@TrevorS38I think you could have got it working honestly and or changed the transmission completely but I understand why you gave up they are a pain to troubleshoot

@@TrevorS38 I had an E60 M5 V10 scary machine, never dared to put a spanner on it, but my E36 touring was a joy to work on.
Yeah, so far I would much rather be wrenching on something OBD1 with a manul transmission.
What happened? Did you ever fix it or part it out ?
