10 Video Game Consoles With the LEAST Games

- Not all consoles are created equally and receive the same library of games as their contemporaries. For this list we’ll be highlighting some of the game systems that have the smallest game libraries to date. In this video the tragically tiny releases for the Sega CD, the Atari Lynx, and the obscure Mega Duck get their time in the spotlight of shame along with a surprising number of other failures. Did you own any of these systems before their wealth of games dried up? Let us know in the comments.

I haven't owned either of those consoles.
I never did, and I never will.
Neo Geo Pocket Color then, Neo Geo Pocket Color now, Neo Geo Pocket Color FOREVER! 😂Thankfully you won't have to just rely on getting the handheld for the Switch and Steam got a nice variety collection of the very best the NGPC had to offer. It was an innovative device that was woefully underrated.
Also the 32X wasn't too bad but it shouldn't have been made. It's existence hindered with the release potential of the Sega Saturn eventually leading it to be a massive flop in the North American market. Majority of the 32X games could've been nice additions to the Saturn Library.
Okay, who did the research for this vid? There are plenty of consoles with smaller libraries than the 3DO and Sega CD that weren't on the list, such as the Atari 5200 (69 games) and the Atari 7800 (58 games).
nice
I'd just replace the Sega CD and Sega 32X with those two Atari consoles, honestly.
No pictures of the actual consoles for some of these? All bad
what do you think google is for
@@jimbo9208it's still a valid complaint. If you're going to just use Google as an excuse to deflect from conversation we should forget watching this video and just look up the 10 smallest console libraries
@@jimbo9208so I should pause and Google search what the systems looks like as I watch😅 k cook

The Nintendo 64DD was a huge omission from this list. The add-on was delayed repeatedly in Japan and when it launched, it got a measly 9 games within its entire lifespan.
Technically it doesn't count as a game console since it's just an add-on for the Nintendo 64. Yet again MojoPlays disregards the rule of having Game Consoles with less games and added in the Sega CD and 32X add-ons.
Just a question: Where are the consoles with the least games ? Like the Super Grafx, Super Cassette Vision, Casio-CV 1000, Creativision, Cassette Vision, 64DD, Apple Pippin, Adventure Vision, Interton VC 4000 or the Amstrad GX 4000 ? These are 10 consoles were each one of them has less games released as every console shown in this video.
No Jaguar CD? It had 13 games.
It doesn't count as a game system since it's an add-on.
But yet again, MojoPlays added in the Sega CD and 32X add-ons on the list despite them not being full consoles.
I'm surprised that the hyperscan wasn't on this list despite having 5 games
I think that one would fall under the "gimmick consoles" that the video says were omitted.
Same for the pc engine supergrafx, it also had 5 games
@@JillyMaysHere
But they added the Sega CD and 32X, those aren't game consoles, but they're here.
The Dreamcast was in the US market for 17 months before being discontinued...
Agreed
How did the Hyperscan not made this list? That system only had like 5 games.
No gimmicky consoles
@@jsmith3946
Yet they added the Sega CD and 32X add-ons, despite them not being actual consoles, so they basically broke their own rules.
The Lynx was actually pretty cool, gates of zendecon and slime world, and those thin cartridges were pretty sleek
Yeah people really need to differerenciate between "bad" and "financially unsuccesful"
Sega 32X needs a Mini Collection
Nobody would buy it except maybe to collect. Most of the games on the 32X are not good enough to warrant such an investment
@@karimcheese7257 32X got some great games, most are still exclusive and unachievable.
That's why I emulated them all, heh heh heh....
I have an Emerson Arcadia 2001. It only had 47 games.
Im not sure you can count some of these. Like the Sega CD and the 32X for example. Those were just add ons for the Genesis. They werent consoles in and of themselves.
That is a good point. If the person that uploaded this video wanted to throw an attachment into the mix, he/she should have chosen the Jaguar CD instead. At least it had a library of less than 20 games.
I'm a collector and I have 3 consoles in my collection that sold under 1 million units, 2 of them only selling less than 100,000. One of them is the PC Engine SuperGrafx, it only had 5 games made for it, 6 if we count another game which is upgraded when playing on this console. Some might say this doesn't count since it's an upgraded version of the PC Engine, or Turbografx-16 as it was branded in the United States. You can compare this to a PS4 Pro, or Nintendo's New 3DS line. Luckily it's backwards compatible with original PC Engine games, but today it's merely a collectors piece.
I believe the 3DO actually released in 1993, not 1994 along with the Atari Jaguar. The Sony PlayStation and sega saturn were released in 1994.
Also I can’t remember of the top of my head, I believe the lynx originally was based on a gameboy prototype because Nintendo was holding them off. As I said I can’t remember, so it may have been the gamegear that was based off of a prototype from one of these companies. But it’s a fun fact like Nolan bushnell holding off distributors working with other companies while he was at Atari. Wonder why beyond 1980 the staggering competition came along for the Atari vcs(2600) and not sooner? After he left Atari, he wasn’t there to hold them back anymore.
The next thing I wanted to bring up was, it sounded like it was implied that the sega dreamcast was on the market for less than a year. Technically it was on the market for over two years with the final official game coming out for it in 2004 that was first party and a third party releasing one in 2007. It had a short life, but not as short as most people think.
The first console I owned, my dad brought home a Philips CDi. I wanted a supernintendo or sega genesis. The last thing I wanted to say was lots of these consoles and add ons may have failed. However they in my opinion, were still worth the buy at the time and worth the play now. Atari lynx, sega Dreamcast technically lol, personally the sega 32x, Philips CDi for the laugh are all examples. I could even argue the atari Jaguar mayyyybe lol. There’s one though that if you play none else on this list, you’re missing out on the sega CD(mega cd). There is a treasure trove of games on there. Yes some laughable and fun but so many that were just spectacular. Please correct me if I’m wrong on any of my facts. Opinions are my own though lol.
Just remembered it was a gameboy prototype that the sega gamegear closely resembled.
Yep. October 3, 1993.
@@thatlonelypoetCJ
All I remember is that the Jaguar commercial roasted the 3DO for having 32 Bits when comparing bits to Atari's, supposedly, 64 bit system.
Neo Geo Pocket B&W had 10 games, the 10th one was UK only, it was an enhanced version of Neo cup
I had a Neo Geo Pocket color. Bought it primary for SNK v Capcom, and I had one other game, Bio-motor Unitron, a robot pokemon ripoff, dungeon crawler.
Bio Motor was not a pokemon ripoff.
There were only five SuperGrafx games produced.
On the bright side, Sega CD had a handful of games compared to Virtual Boy.
It's a shame because looking back, the Wii-U isn't really a bad console by any means. But Nintendo did it DIRTY in the marketing department. It's console exclusives (IF IT HAD ANY) were slim to none, 3rd party support was practically null and void, and then there was that abysmal launch. Even with the massive library it had via the backlog on Nintendo Eshop (I will NEVER forgive Nintendo for shutting it down), that still wasn't enough to boost sales.
WiiU actually had quite a few exclusives until most of them were re released on Switch. Mario Kart 8, NSMBU, Yoshi's WW, Zelda WW & TP HD, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Splatoon, Sonic - Boom, Star Fox Zero, Paper Mario Color Splash, Mario Party, Rabbids Land, Game and Wario
Just off the top of my head.
I’ve seen and have all NTSC Consoles from 1980-Now amazing memories
WTF are you on about with the Lynx?
Shitty screen, yes, but its overall appearance didn't look old. The way you describe it, you'd think it had valves and a clockwork generator to power it.
I like how they talk about how bad the design looked without actually showing us what it looked like. Come on, is this their first attempt at making a TH-cam video?
The PC-FX, the successor to the PC-Engine (Turbografx-16), only got 62 games and deserves to be mentioned.
Nintendo DSi was another one if you count only DSiWare.
Although not a console, the Triforce Arcade Hardware only had 4 games with a fifth one canceled.
I absolutely loved the Atari Jaguar the controller was a little wonky but once you figured it out it was very useful
The Mega Duck was my first handheld. I wanted a Game Boy but it would take me more then a year to gather 199 gulden to purchase one. And then i saw the commercial for the Mega Duck. Only 75 gulden. Finaly a console that i was able to purchase and show on the street and at school. Rough times 😂
Awesome list
Yes I have the Sega 32X. I have 4 games for it. It was a pain to set up and now it's in my parents closet somewhere.
Off the top of my head it seems weird to not see the PC Engine SuperGrafx (five games) or the Apple pippin (18). There’s quite a few extremely obscure consoles that could have replaced the mainstream ones.
This is true. To be honest, it is the obscure consoles that have the smallest libraries. If this person had done the research, we would have been hearing about consoles that most people never knew existed.
I'm surprised the 64DD didn't make it here
Hey, Neo Geo Pocket & Color slander won't be tolerated here! Those two devices were a fine piece of hardware with great games. It's not the handheld's fault that SNK managed the time release of them horribly as well as having no backlight to have a slight edge over the Game Boy Color. It was an innovative device sadly released around a time where SNK definitely was in some financial lows.
Atari Jaguar Was Ass and People Give The Sega Saturn a whole bunch of Crap at least It had more games and superior ones at that Segata Sanshiro was and still Is my favorite gaming Ambassador "Sega Saturn Shiro"
The jaguar had some pretty cool games, tempest, alien vs predator and the ports of wolfenstein and doom are 2nd to none. It was also the first console to have Raymond. There's still a thriving homebrew community as well so there's still games being made for it.
Feel like the Hyperscan should of been on this list. It was made by Mattel and they expected it to sell well. Even remember seeing the commercials on TV back in the day. But it only ever had 5 games released. Was a bigger fail technically then any in this video
You forgot the Supergrafx and the TurboGrafx16 on your list.
I was hoping the Action Max would be on the list.
I will defend the Virtual Boy as a technological marvel, my parents got one with Galactic Pinball, Mario Tennis, and Teleroboxer! It was a headache but the depth was great!
I'm just surprised something beat the Virtual Boy
I had an Atari Lynx and I loved it back then. APB was one of my favorite games along with California Games.
No microvisio that system only had 12 games
Good call. I forgot to include that one in my list.
I remember once playing Wario Land on the Virtual Boy at a flea market store that I go to for old school retro games. I played for 5-10 minutes to avoid the headaches.
CD-I. ..... It will haunt your nightmares!
PS5 & Xbox Series are missing in this video.
I love the Sega CD. It has one of my favorite games of all time, Snatcher.
32X *CD*
3DO launched in 1993.
My older brother almost convinced me to get a Sega CD instead of a Playstation for my 10th birthday, i swear he was going to murder me till we booted up Alien Trilogy and he was hooked!
N Gage,
Super A'can,
Casio Loopy,
V Smile,
V Flash,
Nuon,
PC-FX,
Playdia,
Action Max,
Zeebo
I miss the cd-i. For me I loved The Wacky world of miniature golf and the casino game. The casino game was the only game my grandpa ever played and I would watch for hours. The CD-I suck but have fond memories with it.
HyperScan only had 5 games, LJN Video Art also only had 9 games.
I don't think the Video Art was really a console, just an electronic painting system for very young kids
@@Nov-5062
AVGN: "It's not a console I wouldn't call it that it can't be. Oh but it is, it has game cartridges and all that. But then it's the worst console of all time!"
@@Nov-5062
It technically is a game console, since it uses cartridges.
AVGN said it best, "It doesn't even *qualify* as a video game console, but it comes with cartridges, so I guess, technically, it *is* a video game console! Well, then it's the WORST video game console OF ALL TIME!"
@@ChaseMC215 yeah I'd have to disagree with you (and the other guy who quoted the same thing) on this one. This console runs shoddy coloring programs, not games, therefore it's not a game console. It's like saying DVD player is a game console since it has swappable discs and interactive menus.
@@Nov-5062
Even if it's just colouring programs, it's still classified as a video game console.
What about the PC Engine SuperGrafx? That system only had 5 games made for the system, and an extra two that are both compatible for the original PC Engine and the SuperGrafx.
3DO is actually a great system, but it was too expensive for the time. I used to play the heck out of Gex on that thing.
Bro you missed the SuperVision...
It would have been nice to show pictures of the game consoles. I am not familiar with some of them.
Pretty sure Amstrad attempted to break into the console market at one point with a very unsuccessful console; the ended up combining the console with their desktop machines with the computer refresh... really surprised that wasn't on the list as well.....
Just went and wikipedia'd it - the Amstrad GX4000 console - There were 27 games on the GX4000, of which 13 are enhanced versions of previously released games on the Amstrad CPC, 8 are released for Amstrad GX4000 only but not for Amstrad CPC and 4 are direct ports from the Amstrad CPC.
I had an Amstrad GX4000, but I was only about 10 so even looking at the list of games, I've no idea which ones we had - it was only recently that I came to realise how few games exist for it
Virtual Boy traumatized me as a kid and that was just for demo play in a KB Toys shop (RIP KB Toys).
I loved the CDI I still use it now and then.
PC Engine SuperGrafx: 5 games
What about the successor to the TurboGrafx-16/PC Engine, the NEC PC-FX?
There's some wrong with the list.
For one, they mentioned "no gimicky consoles", but they added the 32X and Sega CD on the list despite them actually being add-ons, not consoles, so they broke a rule that should also be there but isn't. I almost exect the LJN Video Art or the LaserActive on the list since they broke the rules for what is allowed and what isn't allowed.
And secondly, no images or reviws of the consoles, just gameplay from those consoles. I don't care if we want to see the games from those consoles, we want photos and videos of those consoles like we're god damn J Jonah Jameson wanting photos of Spiderman.
Systems like the NES may have a lot of games, but let's be honest, they're not all winners. There are maybe
No Epoch Cassette Vision? It had like 11 games.
Funny how I am now seeing comments that confirm my listing. Good call.
@@btread8875 Thanks. I guess in my case it is because it received no upvotes.
AVGN did episodes of some of those game consoles.
Nintendo would probably prefer to forget about the Philips CDI and Virtual Boy
Considering they almost allowed Sony to undercut their business..
Cancel the deal, announce a deal with Phillips, we saw how awful that turned out, all of us arguing Genesis&snes mostly bought PS1 after, just like that nintendo been behind mostly for 30yrs now
Surprised no Nokia N-Gage 😊
Nah, y'all double dipped with the Neo Geo Pocket and the Neo Geo Pocket Color. Honestly, for systems with small gaming libraries, its weird not to include other handhelds like the GP32, N-Gage, or Gizmondo. And add ons like the N64DD.
I dunno why, but hearing the Virtual Boy mentioned almost always a laugh out of me
What about the R-Zone!?😱😱 AHHHHHHHGGGGGHHHHH!!
No AmigaCD32?
I enjoyed also Robo Aleste ❤on the Sega Mega CD 😅( The MegaCD Games who looked not like interaktive Movies like that Kriss Kross Game or Night Trap and where just basicly MegaDrive Games with CD Sound was not sooo Bad like those 3DO Zelda Games...they where solid till Amazing like the Lunar Series)
7:32 plus some games you needed both 32x and cd
I had a virtual boy. I never got headaches or anything but i remember the games being depressing with how basic they were. I had the Wario game which was decent but still the whole experience was empty in a weird way that didnt even have to do with the visuals alone
This is awesome
1:26 plus it costed 700$
I feel like I should give some of these consoles some ice cream or something.
The 3DO was realeased in 1993
It would've been nice if you featured clips from AVGN or other video game critics.
Oh also, why wasn’t the nec super grafx or the Fairchild channel F on here to name a few. I love the honorable mentions for a reason lol.
Super grafx was a computer
@@jsmith3946 it was? I thought it was an upgraded turbo grafx 16?
In everything I’ve read about it, it was literally described as an upgraded, true 16 bit turbo grafx 16
Once again, let me correct the legend on the Virtual Boy... Nintendo is not a hardware company (in the sense that hardware is not their primary business). It is true in 2024, it was even more true in 1995 (and before). The Virtual Boy technology was developed by another company that also sold the technology to medical companies, and they developed a tool to help eyesight. So why the pain and the headaches? Because it is making you use eye muscles most people were not using before… Some Nintendo employees stopped wearing glasses after using the Virtual Boy (of course, they had minor eyesight problems).
I have a Sega 32X, and it's not too bad. Be cool to find some home brew games pushing it past its limits, but I'm more curious if there are means to dump its game carterages for emulation. Don't want to be a pirate here, but if anyone can point me in the direction to a 32X cartradge reader, I'd deeply appreciate it.
Kind of surprised by the absence of Gizmondo.
I played a VirtuaBoy once. Had a headache within three minutes.
What about the adventure vision with 5?
You kinda botched “Out Of This World” wrong until you realize that it’s called “Another World.”
no C64GS or Amstrad GX4000? though I guess if you included the C64 carts from before the GS launched that worked right then maybe there'd be a bit much, the disigned for it ones though not a lot really
They forgot the Odyssey 2
I feel like this video didn't do enough research. There are plenty of consoles that had less games. Gamepark 32, Zodiac Tapwave, Atari Jaguar.
Some people say: Wii U is Nintendo's WORST-ever-made Console, but no they're wrong, because Virtual Boy is the WORST-ever-made Nintendo Console. But I liked Nintendo's April Fool's Day Joke with the Virtual Boy Pro for the Nintendo Switch. 😂❤
3DO also made Windows Games! One of the best games in history: Heroes of Might and Magic
The Amstrad GX4000 & Commodore 64GS would be definite additions but probably more known to Europeans than North Americans.
Halcyon, 2 games, who can beat it ?
LOL How could he miss that one? Must not have done any research.....
@@btread8875
I can tell. Even if it's a possible joke, it has truth to it. Why did I say "I can tell"? Well he added the Sega CD and 32X add-ons on the list despite them not being actual consoles. There were consoles that combined the Sega Genesis and Sega CD together like the Sega CDX or even the ones by JVC like the X'Eye/Wondermega, and Sega originally had plans for the Sega Neptune, which was just a standalone Sega 32X (which was the first plan before it became a mushroom shaped add-on), but was cancelled pretty quicky.
It’s missing SuperGrafx and its 5 games!
8:35 -- While the actual known number of released games on this system is likely not yet finalized, it is certain that Sachen (aka. Commin) was responsible for all except one game. Ouch.
I never owned a Virtual Boy, but I did have the opportunity to play one a few years back. While I never experienced any eye pain, dizziness, or any other afflictions, I won't say I enjoyed playing it either. It just looked weird, and the gaming experience just wasn't that great.
The Sega cd is not a console. It’s an add on. Sega cd games are just Genesis games with added features but the whole library is really part of the Genesis library
Yet they also added the 32X to the list despite it also being an add-on.
Pokemon Mini and Sega's Dreamcast also had the least games...
Sega 32 X absolute DOODOO BUTTER!!
I’ve only known one person to ever own a Neo-Geo Pocket Color. And to be fair, the KOF games are decent on it.
Only ones I actually heard of out of these are the virtual boy and Neo geo pocket
The best 3DO game might have been Super Street Fighter II Turbo
Makes it easy to collect an entire set for the console
Easy yes. expensive? Yes
