Can it truly be called Mario Party unless someone gets rocketed from first place to dead last at the worst possible moment? That was a masterful play at the end, even despite the game trying its hardest to keep you from winning.
6:35 The sped-up music here reminded me of a classic WarioWare microgame although I can't remember which one exactly. 10:33 Manor of Escape is a contender for best luck minigame in the series as you don't have to take turns, but you still should pay attention to what others do as mentioned so it's engaging and there's at least some skill involved. Gate Key-pers on the other hand is a contender for the worst one as it does the opposite apart from _potentially_ having to pay attention to what others do although while waiting for your turn unlike the abovementioned - if everyone else playing before you due to the random order doesn't immediately guess right (that can admittedly be fun in a way when playing with friends, though) and so you don't even get to play, that is - and doesn't even have any tension à la Bowser's Big Blast!
Gate Key-pers is so hilariously bad. It's like if you took everything that made Bowser's Big Blast so brilliant and ripped it all away. However, I do get a kick out of ironically voting for it whenever I play with my friends, even if it actively does not benefit me. I live for anarchy.
It's even worse when you're forced to get first place in it to complete story mode. I only had 3 attempts until I got it but I know there's just one person who was there for an hour getting unlucky.
Based on the reactions I've seen, it very much looks like this one's headed straight for the very bottom of the barrel. _Everyone_ dunks on it whenever its name so much as appears on the screen. You wouldn't really expect that from something so innocuous-looking, but here we are. Possibly one of the most genuinely disliked minigames across the entire series already.
I was about getting all restless that you decided to use Custom Dice anyway despite no longer reaching for the star instead of Super Dueling Glove to leave both Spike and Goomba with 1 star and yourself with 6 but turned it wasn't necessary. Good game, man! Congrats 🎉
My record of coins held at end of game was 517 on the raceway at 20 turns. Everyone kept landing on the Broozer event space, so everyone kept getting swept past the top star location. Homestretch doubled coins on hand, I win a duel for 116 or so, and then minigames from there on pushed me that high.
It really seems like they overthought the concept for Gate Key-pers. Really, all you need to do to make that minigame work is to have ONE correct door and key combination. Whoever finds it is the winner. This way, players actually have to stay engaged throughout; paying attention to which key has been tried where and are less likely to simply brute-force their way to victory, as we saw Donkey Kong and Goomba so eloquently demonstrate.
And with that, Wario managed to steal Goomba's star cupons for his retirement fund, but Goomba stole ALL of DK's life savings, like dang that Goomba was pissed for losing his stars, and Spike...was doing Spike stuff. Either way Wario is going to be biggest outlaw in the Western Wilds, will he be worth 5 stars?
Missed Opportunity of Using The Super Duel Glove to guarantee the Winning Even more. the duels of this game are very easy (except for the Bowling one which is pure lottery). you could very well have won another star. But Great Play nonetheless!
Gate Key-pers really is just a worse version of that one MP3 minigame, isn't it (unless that was what you meant in the video)? Also, if this were a pre-9 Mario Party, it would've ended with Spike getting eaten by Peepas or something. Either way, it's nice to see a plan come together.

I got stuck on it for 30+ minutes on solo mode. Best game of all time, should come back for Superstars 2.
I think i got one time where everyone else got the right key to the right door, so i couldn't even try to get either 1st, 2nd or 3rd.

nothing quite like crawling your way out of the bottom to the top
or crawling your way out of 3rd place, in this case

Quite the mallvelous video, mate.

There was no turn I could have used the glove safely.
Goomba: "well atleast i can finally get that gold paint when this is over"
I’d say Gate-Keepers is more like Bowser’s Big Blast but if blowing up was the objective and there were three bombs you had to pick between.
lol Goomba got Coconut Malled
No not goomba he di

The ideas of Peepas actually being a threat for once is funny
Just going to ask what happened to the captions
?
