2016 GLC300 9G-TRONIC Transmission Service | GLC300 Transmission Fluid and Filter Replacement

  • This video will show you how I service the transmission, replacing the filters (filters are built onto the transmission pan). The transmission fluid and the filter cost me less than $100. You will save thousands of dollars by doing this yourself vs taking it to the Mercedes dealership.

    Great your work which would save a lot of money and for sure it would work. Appreciated your time. I would like to know where you bought your hand pump to pump the fluid back into the pan, please.

      I bought the hand pump from Harbor Freight. If you can't find it, you can always buy from Amazon or eBay.

    Great vid and I love it and your work style. However, with every transmission fluid change, do you have to change the pan and it comes with a kit? Also, I notice when I'm in neutral or just ideling - most of the time, it would say D2 and it freaks me out.

    • @MrBeeHS
      @MrBeeHS  19 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Thank you so much.
      Yes! In this particular model, the pan and filter come with the kit. The filter is actually attached to the pan. It's kind of weird, in my opinion.
      Yes, sometimes the transmission stays in D2, which is 2nd gear. That happens due to what mode you are in. If you selected comfort mode, your transmission will stay in D2 or take off in second gear. However, if you are in sports mode, the transmission will start with D1, first gear. I hope this helps.😊

    Hey! Thanks for the video! Really appreciated. Just have a few questions.
    1) In the video it seams as if you only used 5 quarts, I believe the kit comes with 10? Why is that?
    2) What about the rear differential? Or the Torque Converter? Don’t we need to drain and refill them as well while doing this process?
    3) From my understanding during the process once we fill the oil we need to switch the cap to position 2 so it leaks out the overfill if any, and we also need to do so after running the car so the transmission temperature is settled, I see you didn’t do any of that. So it’s not really necessary?
    Thanks 🙏🏼

    • @MrBeeHS
      @MrBeeHS  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes, you are correct! I use only 5 quarts or the total amount that was drained. The rest are in the torque converter. The kit comes with 10 qts, but you don't have to drain it in the torque converter.
      You can definitely drain and fill the rear differential as well. It's up to you.
      The last one... you can do that as well. I know that I didn't do it because it's not necessary, in my opinion. This was my third service on this GLC300....the car belongs to my wife since it was on the showroom floor in 2016 and has never been to Mercedes dealership accept my shop...(my garage) 😄 I hope this help and I appreciate for watching my video.

      I test drove it after I did the service, and it drives just like the first day that we took it out from the showroom floor at the Mercedes dealership. 😊
      Now, just take your time on it, and please do not rush to get the service done and always double check your work. 😊

  • @MrBeeHS
    @MrBeeHS  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    *CORRECTION: POSITION 1 IS FOR FILLING AND POSITION 4 IS FOR DRAINING BUT YOU CAN ALSO USE POSITION 4 TO FILL THE FLUID AS WELL.
    *IT'S NOT RECOMMENDED TO OIL THE RUBBER GASKET BECAUSE IT MIGHT CAUSE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID TO LEAK OUT. SINCE I LIGHTLY COATED THE RUBBER SEAL AND SNUG TIGHT THE BOLTS, IT'S ALL WORKED OUT AND NO LEAK.

    Correction: Number 1 position is for filling, number 4 for draining, number 3 for setting fill level once transmission is at operating temperature. Also, critical mistake here, DO NOT PUT OIL ON EDGE PAN SEAL. This needs to be dry or you will get a leak.

    • @MrBeeHS
      @MrBeeHS  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @user-rf1po7vw5t he's right.....1 is for filling and 4 for draining. In the video, I use 4 as for draining and filling. By the way....you can use 4 for filling also. That's what I did.
      The proper way is position 1 filling and 4 for draining.

    That's only half the job. 1. You forgot to drain about 4-5 liters from the wandler. In total, you only changed 30% of the oil. 2. Why did you clean the edges of the gearbox housing and then lubricate the gasket, it makes no sense. It's supposed to be dry there.

    • @MrBeeHS
      @MrBeeHS  22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      You are correct! I wouldn't drain out from the torque coverter because you don't need to. This method replaced most of the oil in the transmission.
      Old habits cleaning the edge of the gear box. And yes, you want to indtall dry gasket.....that's another way as well.
      My method also works, just to let you know that. This car has never been to the mechanic shop or the dealership at all since in the showroom floor. I am the only mechanic who works on this vehicle. 👍

    • @MrBeeHS
      @MrBeeHS  22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      There are so many ways to work on the vehicles....there are nonset points that you are supposed to do this or that. There are AWAYS WAYS to get the job done. You don't have to perform everything by the book.....you just need to find ways to do it better and the results will be the same.

    • @lajsta
      @lajsta 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      one thing: your method allows you to change at most 30-40% of the oil in this AT. The capacity of the system is 10 liters of oil. One small screw in the wandler will allow you to replace up to 80-90% of the oil and it does not require a lot of work.

    • @MrBeeHS
      @MrBeeHS  22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @lajsta appreciate your input, my friend. Where is the location of the screw that you have mentioned? Please describe the location so it would help others who are trying to DIY. Very much appreciated. 🙏
