Hello again Tom!, I am sure you have seen on the news about Apple new policy that´s going to in some way change or limit marketing efforts for small business. have you any toughts about affecting us DYI musicians when it comes our strategy running ads on Facebook , do you think is going to affect us too ? have a great day Thanks!
Great tips! I started off a campaign around 40 to 50 cents a conversion. Now that it is out of the learning phase. It gradually went to about 20 to 25 cents. Now about 10 to 15 cents. Definitely worth it to wait it out. And don’t change anything for at least 5 days so u have enough data and can be confident with your changes.
I think you covered this in a later video I watched. If running first ad set, Just run a $5 or $10 a day ad for a few months and not worry about boosting it up on a release. Does this sound right? thx for content btw!
I’ve been trying to make ads all week, the other day I made my last ad and have left it for a couple days without changing anything. It’s now working great!
I just left Spotify and am going to Bandcamp. I worked too hard to get streams before I through research, found that only 1 to 2% of Spotify artists were making any real money. The rest of us just get the scraps and crumbs. Way too much work especially if you're still working a full time job while trying to established as a professional or part time musician. Social media presence doesn't cross over and translate into streams because the average Instagramer or Facebooker even if they like the music of an act just keep scrolling and don't take the time to go their Spotify page. Laziness? Possibly. Most likely just a product of an attention deficit society. To make even a part time income off of Spotify and the like you have to get around ten thousand streams a day every day and that translates into less than $50 per day. Just saying.
I agree. It's tough to make an income on Spotify. I find it's better to frame it as a promotional tool that pays a small dividend rather than a full-blown income stream. You've got to have something on the other side of that to generate revenue (e.g. merch, affiliate income, TH-cam, TikTok, etc.). Best of luck with Bandcamp!
@@tomdupreeiii Hi Tom. In your experience is there much crossover from Spotify to the other outlets you mentioned? Like I stated earlier people weren't going from my social media pages to Spotify. Very frustrating. I wish Spotify would allow you to post the other locations of the track in some sort of immediate and visible comment field. You can put that in your bio but how many people are diving in that far since on many profiles you really have to dig around to even find it. Keep up the good and thanks for helping out your fellow musicians and writers.
@@CaptHiltz I think it’s much easier to pull your existing audience from other platforms over to Spotify. It’s much more difficult to get people from Spotify to wherever else you’d like to see them. Spotify doesn’t really have much social integration so it’s tough.
It seems like everytime I try to edit or add a new ad to the campaign during the learning phase (or make any changes gor that matter) my account gets disabled. It's happened twice already. Is this a known issue?
Still having this weird issue where Im getting listeners but not streams? Confuse since my ad is the beginning of the song so I would assume the folks are listening for the first 30 seconds, could it be im not sending it to spotify paid accounts? For the interests section I have it set as "Spotify + USERS WHO ALSO MATCH : Drake " , maybe Im not letting it learn enough but this keeps happening.
Thank you so much for this video, I've been doing these mistakes again and again ! I do run conversion ads now, after seing traffic ads are irrelevant in terms of spotify streams. But I'm struggling using hyppedit smart links as conversion events. Facebook ask me to verify the website... Obviously I can't edit the code from Hyppedit... any tips to solve the problem ?
Thanks for watching! Firstly, I'd highly recommend switching to ToneDen. They're the best, in my opinion. While you can't edit the events for Hyppedit (or verify their site with your ad manager) you can still use their service. You'll simply need to verify your own domain and add a "View Content" event to your own list so that you can use it with other links as well (e.g. Hyppedit).
@@tomdupreeiii Thanks for your answer. The support from Hyppedit told me we can still advertise as usual for now. About Toneden I went through the trial and found it better but too expensive for my budget right now ! Subscribing to you channel !
Very insightful. I feel like there is always more to learn with this fb ads stuff. What is an ideal price cost per conversion for the begging. It’s been at 90 cents for me , but seems to keep gradually going down. I’m still working for that 50 cents per conversion , or even 10-15 cents like you said . That sounds like a dream! I just can’t seem to figure it out !
For me, I'm not fully satisfied until I'm able to get my cost per conversion consistently in the teens. There may still be outlier days where it goes above $0.20 and that's ok. It will often be offset by days where it goes below $0.10, but if I can keep things consistently anywhere between $0.10 and $0.20, I'm happy. Thanks a ton for watching!
Hey quick question. I’m currently running a campaign with two ad sets. One ad set is converting at 0.75 per conversion with only 8 conversions and the other ad set is converting at 0.14 per conversion with 145 conversions so far. Should I pause/turn off the 0.75 ad set or just keep it on? I’m scared that I will mess with the 0.14 ad set success. Help me out bro
@paddynbob the learning phase is ad set-specific, so you can turn one off without affecting the rest if you want to. I always think it's best to simply start with one ad set at the beginning though. And @imri26 is right. Some version of Facebook's ad manager don't show the learning indicator and will simply show your ads as active. Mine used to do this for a long time until it was updated. In this case, I'd simply recommend waiting until you have 50 conversion events in any single ad set before you start touching anything.
Yo tom say I have 4 ad sets and two have been able to get out out the learning phase and 2 haven’t or say learning limited. Is it okay to turn off the ad sets that say learning limited at that point? Also, if I turn off an ad set that is still in the learning phase while others aren’t, will those “active” ads go back into the learning phase? Thanks dude 🙏
Hey dude! Yes, it's ok to turn off the ad sets that are "learning limited". All learning phase changes happen at the ad set level, so what you do to one ad set won't affect the others. It will only have an impact if you change something within the ad set itself or add a new ad option to it.
What if i'm on a tight budget? Let's say 100$ for the whole campaign. 10$ a day, and after spending 5$ i only got 1 view content conversion. 50 conversions seems to be really far to get without bursting through all the budget.
If your budget is only $100, and you only have one conversion after spending $5 on the first day, you may be too narrow in your targeting ideally, you want a cold audience of at least 10 million. If that's not the case, I'd recommend turning off your current campaign and starting a new one with a bigger audience and fresh data.
@@tomdupreeiii Thank you so much for the reply. I thought a narrow target was more suited for this low budget campaign, but it seems i was wrong. I disabled "detailed targeting expansion", you advise to activate that?
@@lorenzodestrieri6318 yeah bigger is definitely better with a cold audience (to a certain point of course) no matter your budget. Getting between 10 and 50 million is ideal. And I would leave targeting expansion off. You made the right move there!
@@tomdupreeiii Thanks again. It seems that "targeting expansion" is the only way for me to get the audience over 5 million. You have some kind of advice in this case?
