    That's weird I was editing a comment here and then suddenly it was deleted, I don't think there was any inappropriate content in it. I'm guessing TH-cam flagged and deleted it for some reason - all I was doing was quoting a change in facebook ads that took place last year that said country/demographic data for conversions would no longer be shown, unless they were custom conversion events (I've been having trouble seeing such data for my conversions). Anyway yeah that was weird.

    hey dude this is absolutely golden, you should have way more subsribers, the only other reason I can think of why conversions are not turning into streams is if someone listens to less then 30 sec of your track on Spotify when they go there which I guess can happen if they have liked the hook featured in your video ad but then didn't enjoy the intro of song

    What if my campaigns were working for a long time and then suddenly stopped? I'm doing everything "right" and have played with different targeting and have gotten my ads down to 8-16 cents per click and I grew from 200 to almost 3000 monthly listeners in just a couple months. Then suddenly I was rapidly declining and struggle to stay above 2500. I get 30-50 conversions a day but isn't carrying over to Spotify even with me doing everything you listed in your video already

    • @tomdupreeiii
      @tomdupreeiii  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Man, that's a tough one. You may have exhausted some of the audience that you were targeting? Or maybe you just ran afoul of some bot traffic. I would test some new ad sets against your current ones in the same campaign and see if that doesn't bring things back a bit.

    I have a huge important question that has been haunting me for aa few days: is it better to do a FB ad campaign using a Spotify link, a linktree or a "linktree-like" page on my own website? I mean, would Facebook make a difference between them? sometimes they don't let you click on some ads that have links from websites they don't like

    • @tomdupreeiii

    • @abakas5094
      @abakas5094 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tom, now I am confused :D in the video where you are setting targeting with Seven Lions, you only have 27,000 ppl for one ad set. Been testing all kinds of ads for over a week now, getting to understand it better, but still struggling. Will really appreciate if you could quickly explain it

    • @tomdupreeiii
      @tomdupreeiii  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ideally, you want to have a cold audience of 10 - 50 million per ad set, not per campaign. You want a big pool of potential listeners for Facebook to pick through at first. I don't remember the setup for the ad set targeting Seven Lions offhand (I've tested a whole bunch of different stuff) but 27,000 is definitely too small for a cold ad set based on what I've learned since then.

    Hey Tom! How can an artist convert their Spotify listeners into actual fans? I see many artists with millions of streams who can’t bring out 10 people to a local show. How can we leverage those Spotify listeners into fans that will come out to see the artist on tour?

    • @tomdupreeiii
      @tomdupreeiii  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The nest method is to build your fan base on various other platforms with true social connection and then drive that traffic to Spotify. You can also run extensive retargeting efforts for people who have clicked your ads for Spotify, retargeting them with boosted posts, merch, etc.

    • @tomdupreeiii
      @tomdupreeiii  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both numbers may be right in this case. You might be getting $0.13 per conversion, but not every single one of those people is necessarily choosing to follow you, even after listening to your music. So the $0.56 cost per follower could also hold up. That basically says that out of every 4 people that click through to listen to your music, only 1 is choosing to follow. Having said that, I am planning to do a video on how to set up a ToneDen landing page in the new year. Thank you for expressing interest in that!

    I've noticed that Instagram opens the landing page in its own browser leading to Spotify app not opening when clicking the link from there. Instead it leads you to the Spotify page asking you to log in or download the app although you have it. I imagine a huge amount of potential streams gets lost at this stage. On Facebook it opens the app immediately. Should I exclude IG? Any thoughts on that?

    • @tomdupreeiii

    • @tomdupreeiii
      @tomdupreeiii  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much for the comment! To create a lookalike audience, you need at least 100 people from a single country in your initial pool. Of course, the more the better. From there, you can include other countries besides the "pool" country in your lookalike audience. I've found the best results with an initial sample size of at least 1,500 people across multiple countries. Anywhere from 1,500 to 10,000 is great in my experience. With an initial pool of that size, you're pretty much guaranteed to have at least 100 in a single country somewhere.

    Hi Tom, thanks for the great advice! I got two questions i'm sure you'll be able to anwser. First off , 4 days ago I launched a new campain which is performing so poorly ( 0.46 cost per result) compared to my last two campains ( 0.18 and 0.19 cost per result), this is odd considering I set it up exactly like the others. Furthermore if I look at the countries triggering the conversions they all come from "unknown" despite it clearly shows me that the budget is distributed throughout the countries I targeted that however report "-" conversions. Seen that this did not happen with the other "successful" campaigns ( conversions were reported from the various countries I selected) i'm wondering what this might be due to and this is my first question. The second one is, all things considered, since i'd like to make some drastic changes to my campaign ( changing targeting, decreasing the number of ads sets and ads per set, etc..), should I make them on the existing campaign or create a brand new one? Thanks for your help you are the best! 💪🏻

    • @robin2089

I’ve tried different ad sets and targeting and just can’t seem to get it down, it started at .49 CPC and has just ballooned. Hey thanks so much for the kind words! I'm happy to hear you're enjoying the videos and that they've been helpful!
      I think this is a great strategy for building your following in a specific area. Targeting your potential touring markets is very smart. If you're going that tight, your costs are likely going to be a bit higher, as the traffic in some of the less-expensive countries isn't going to be there to benefit you. You might try running two ad sets within the same campaign: one targeting your touring markets and one targeting all Spotify territories. This will give you growth where you want it as well as overall traffic to build your streaming presence as well. You can even employ some spending limits in each ad set to balance things out how you want them!

    Lol my cost per conversion is 4.46. I've had 2 of them and one was my wife. Really dejected with this.

      Ugh. That’s no good. Sounds like you have a setup issue, poor targeting or targeting too narrow.

      @@tomdupreeiii I'm not sure what I'm doing at all. It took a while to get the pixel to work. Maybe my ads suck.
