I'm just getting started with FB ads and a little behind you on the learning curve, so I really appreciate your videos. I'll make a note to rewatch this video when I'm ready to utilize lookalike and custom audiences. Couple questions: I'm lucky if anyone watches even 10% of my video ad, how can I achieve a longer view rate? How long are your ads? Mine are 15 seconds - too long - too short?? Also, why do you always put Spotify in your targeting? I don't follow Spotify on FB, I never @ mention it, I don't use FB to login on Spotify, so as far as I can tell FB has no idea I am a Spotify user. Or do they??!?!?? Assuming they actually don't know, I remain skeptical about specifically targeting Spotify users because if a non-Spotify user gets to my toneden landing page he's unlikely to trigger a ViewContent event, so no cost to me. But without the Spotify targeting, someone like me, with no FB links to Spotify, can still see the ad.
thanks Tom for this video. usually i listen to u via podcast, but today i decided to look at your TH-cam video. great tutorial. looking forward to use these tips in my upcoming spotify release.
Ahh nice i got some data already from a few ads iv run before but im not sure if they worked well, would it be better to start all over again for a week get that data then run a spotify growth with the new data? as id like use your method for spotify growth
Really great as usuall Tom. Quick question for you: do you really think narrowing it down to "and must like Spotify" is mandatory? This condition only means that we will target people who liked the Spotify page on facebook. That doesn't mean they actually use or not Spotify to listen to music. WDYT? Take care man.
I like it as a hedge against wasted ad spend. The Spotify affinity has over 300 million people in it, so I'm not too worried about missing out on opportunity. Having said that, it could certainly be worth a try to see how the results fare.
Thanks for the video Tom. When creating the the last ad set with the custom and lookalike audiences in there did I see you target just the US for the location or did you switch that to target every country where Spotify is available?
Thanks so much for this man! For clarification, continue running the beginning cold ad sets even if the cost is $1 per conversion? I actually followed everything to a T with how you set up your Instagram and Facebook story ads, but the results for the first few days have been very expensive. With that being said, I'm definitely willing to get through that learning phase, if I know that the audience's I'm building will eventually get me down to that $0.20-0.30/stream, you feel?
Awesome video again Tom, thank you! Curious, if setting up a campaign to grow your IG following would you set the website link to your instagram profile with a traffic campaign, or is there a better way to do things? Cheers!
Hey man, I'm loving the content, thanks! Btw, quick question, I've been targeting my single and I've gotten clicks from other countrys (Based on FBs' info) But I'm Spotify in just seeing listeners from my country. What is going wrong? I appreciate your insight dude!
I'd cross-reference the results by country with both Spotify and Facebook and remove any countries from your targeting where you're getting a ton of conversions but no streams. I'd also recommend doing the same thing by age. I got a lot of clicks and conversions from 13-18 year olds early on but none of that converted to streams. Once I removed that age group things cleaned up.
Hey Tom,I have allergies issues too last week and it sucks. Thanks for going over this. Is there a reason you put all the countries together, won't the budget just go to cheaper countries? feel better soon man!
Thanks for all your tips, but for some reason I'm not quite able to do what you're doing here when it comes to choosing the videos from my latest campaign, they simply don't show up no matter what I do. Also in the Lookalike Audience I have to choose countries but even when I choose all Spotify territories (I have dem saved) I get an error saying I don't have 100 in one country which is weird seeing as I do... so a bit stuck here :-/
It has to do with what countries you are targeting. Go to breakdown/delivery/country in Facebook ad manager and see where your conversions are coming from. Then check the map on your audience tab in Spotify for Artists. I took the time to track this every day for a month and I figured out what countries almost never turn into listeners (all the new African countries they just added), which ones have a low percentage (India, Malaysia, Phillipines), and which ones are pretty reliable. You have to give it two or three days from a conversion to showing up as a listener because of the data collection lag with Spotify, plus, some people will add your song to a playlist and listen to it later. So, I've been paring my list over time, and I still spot check it periodically. We just targeted Fiji for the first time and got about 10 conversions and zero listeners. No more Fiji. It's a waste of money to get conversions that don't turn into listeners, no matter how cheap they are.
Rather than run a conversion campaign to gather the data, could you run a brand awareness or reach campaign that is more wide spread? seems like you could gather data of 100 people who watch 95% of a video more quickly.
You definitely could do that! You'd have to wait longer to build the custom audience built from conversions though, so it's a trade off. I love that thought though!
Um, you should have probably mentioned that this is for a growth campaign, not a new release strategy. It seems that having a high budget with only one adset, in my experience, causes "impression dumping" and can cause the cost to go up instead of come down even after exiting the learning phase, so this approach needs a specified daily budget to work. I tried it with a high budget for a new release and it was a disaster, well over $1 CPR whereas other strategies were closer to $.50 the first day. I've heard other people say to do one adset so it exits the learning phase faster, and it did but all Facebook learned is how to do really expensive conversions with that approach. I get a much better CPR with a lower budget if there is only one adset. If this is a new release strategy, it seems like it should be a separate adset at a lower budget that you just leave alone while you have other adsets in the $50 a day for three days campaign. From what I can see, if you have more than $15 per adset, Facebook starts doing impression dumping to keep up with your budget but it's not strategic and doesn't seem to significantly lower the CPR even if you leave it alone.
Hello sir I submitted my National ID card and identity was verified (on facebook account) but my business manager still asks me to confirm my identity, and my facebook account is still disabled 😐..please how do I go about this..please help
Love You From india. Sir Facebook ad account restrictions and I have facebook ad account fund.. sir please any trick refund amount. And how to fix iso 14 policy...
You either need to switch from conversions to link clicks or set up a domain name and link it to a landing page - they have not enforced the IOS 14 policy yet, so existing ads should still be working.
How to warm up facebook ad account?
Great stuff man. You're a legend!
I appreciate that! Glad you're digging it!

Feel good, Tom. How much is enough interaction in average ?

Yeah, I'd probably start fresh now that you know the ropes a little bit.
@@tomdupreeiii thanks man appreciate it
Thanks again Tom. I’ve pieced together this strategy from sections of your other vids, but it’s nice to have it all in one spot.
Awesome video !! Not a lot of people in the industry sharing these helpful tips.

Thank you for this video! How much money should I spend on the initial cold targeting ad for it to get enough data?
I would start at $10 per day and do that for a month.
Thanx a bunch Tom. This really helped me out!
Glad it helped. Thanks for watching!
thx for the info!
No problem!
why do you leave detailed targeting expansion off and do you the same for lookalike expansion?
Awesome video again Tom, thank you! Curious, if setting up a campaign to grow your IG following would you set the website link to your instagram profile with a traffic campaign, or is there a better way to do things? Cheers!
that's how ive been doing it and honestly its working

Hahahaha!! Dude this comment got me! 😂😂😂
Every Single Time!!!! hahaha
Ahhh, so you'd focus on a 2 week "Release" type campaign, and then you stop it and get the "Growth" campaign going?
Yep, that's right. The growth campaign runs full-time. The release campaign run for anywhere from three days to two weeks depending on performance.
