I thought that sounded like you on the radio going into Angelina County. The call sign threw me off a little. I was overhead going IAH-ORD. Fly safe out there!
Angelina County is the most beautiful place in the great state of Texas! I spent all my childhood summers there with all my cousins in Lufkin, Zavalla, and Broaddus. Absolutely beautiful country out there!
Great adventure, Josh! Arnaldo is a cool dude! Looking forward to the next leg! As always, thanks for bringing us along (well, especially, thanks to Arnaldo for bringing you and us along!).
Up to point where I quit the airplane biz, I had 750 hours split between cessna’s, 235 Cherokee and about 450 in a Bellanca. I’ve had an engine quit, electrical failure at night a lost spinner in flight, major fabric fail in flight and inadvertent IMC but worst was running out of gas on takeoff with instructor while getting my 10 hours dual in the Bellanca. All I can say is that my hand beat instructor to the fuel selector. Training and procedure is what gets you through this stuff. I went up last year in a 172 for 2 hours of dual after 15 years idle and 75% of it came back but the IPad and new avionics has left me behind. I subscribed to your channel and will just live vicariously as my flying days are probably behind me.
That was great and Sir you have the touch. You can definitely land a plane. That has to be just amazing the night and city lights. THen out from nowhere a runway appears. Love it. Thank you guys very much.
Really enjoying this series. I feel like I'm there with you. Thanks for sharing. The way you capture the scenery and the in cabin shots puts you right there with you. Cheers.
Another great video Josh. Especially enjoyed the last leg with the lighted runways and all the city lights. Night flying seems to be more difficult but it sure makes for a colorful and interesting video. Best of luck with the rest of your journey.
You guys are a great team in the cockpit. I live outside Orlando , flying out of Leesburg. Flown over Travolta’s house many times. Auto pilot is a definite plus on long trips. Very well equipped C172 !
@@kevinneville5876 I do. I'v got lots of friends flying out of Milton I may start flying a C177 a little bit too over there. I was flying out of PNS in the Flying club for the last 14years but decided to bail out and try something different.
Our club's 182 has an autopilot and our 172 doesn't. I really miss it when taking a trip on the 172. It is really nice. I also live in the direct path of Hurricane Michael (about 50 NM northeast of Mexico Beach). You can't understand how bad the storm (and the aftermath) was until you lived thru it.
Late watching these, but they are awesome! Your film-making and story telling has come so far in the last few years. Kudos to you man! I'm based about 7 miles north of Jack Edwards at 5R4. If you're ever back in the area please look me up! I'll show you a few of the cool local strips!
I think they could easily put this on Discovery or National Geographic. Your stoey telling, camera work, editing, music, content is fab. Regards from The Netherlands.
Love the panel. That's what I would like to have, only in a C177 Cardinal (which may be in the works). Take a vacation out in the Napa Valley Josh and help me get current! Thanks for the video!
The apr mode should give vertical guidance even without WAAS. It follows a virtual 3 deg glidepath independent of whether you do an LPV or RNAV. You just can't use LPV minima. We don't have WAAS or any SBAS in Australia yet. Still I use apr mode all the time.
I wish I had known you were in Lufkin. I work in Lufkin and have flown in and out of there many times. Did my training all over East Texas area. Would love to meet up with you one day. I’ll buy lunch!
When you said “Travolta”, I thought you flew over Spruce Creek, outside Daytona. I love that airport community and have flown out of there several times. Got my first aerobatic training there. I didn’t realize Jumbolair was the new Travolta home. Great video ! 🇺🇸🛫
So looking forward to the rest of the videos!!! Such an Exciting adventure!!! Good Luck! Blue Skies! Can't wait for the next one and hope your feeling better!!!! Happy New Year!!!
That's a nice airplane. Love the autopilot. :-). BTW, can you enter the airport IDs and legs you flown for the day. It be nice to fly them with flight simulator.
I have made the trip from Clearwater Florida to Corpus Christi Texas in a boat, but never a plane. Took over 12 hours in a boat (two turbo charged 454 Chevy I/O's) and $3000 worth of fuel. By the time we pulled into Padre Island Yacht Club, we were whipped. It was a lot of fun, but not too practical.
When I saw you landing at Williston I thought for sure you were going to visit Jason from MzeroA. Aviation101 and MzeroA are my favorite aviation channels.
i dont know if this is already over, but what I would do is on the return trip. Collect sand and water in the bottles and combine it with sand and water from Atlantic and hold onto it and put it on display.
Great flight Josh. All you do everytime you do something different it just adds to my flying bucket list. Flying over the Cape is now on my list along with flying to the east coast, Flying to the Keys and the Bahamas and then to the west coast to Catalina Island. Question will your trip take you through or near Albuquerque or New Mexico. Would dig meeting up with you in my C172/180 and get some air to air footage either on your way west or east. Not sure you schedule. Fly safe
Josh, can you tell me what the dates of your trip to the West Coast were. I am planning a similar trip and would like to know your opinion on the timing of your trip.
I'm following your journey. Awesome video. I saw part 1 about 3days ago. I fly out of Miami and always wanted to fly over John Travolta's home. Will probably do it next month.
Hey Josh if you are ever flying and looking for a place to go stop into (KAXS) Altus Quartz Moutain Regional airport about 10 miles north of the Texas border in the southwest side of oklahoma! We have some of the cheapest fuel prices and some pretty amazing local features I work the line Wed through Sat so stop in sometime! Safe flying until then!
Is that John Travolta's house at 0:41? :D Edit: just watched another 20 seconds in where you confirmed it, lol. Next time I'll watch more before commenting :-p Awesome video!
"Screw the fuel; we need coffee." A man after my own heart! Glad to see you have your priorities straight, Josh. :-)
Love seeing you conquer some serious distance in the airplane! That's what aviation was meant for.
I thought that sounded like you on the radio going into Angelina County. The call sign threw me off a little. I was overhead going IAH-ORD. Fly safe out there!

@ 10:50 N653DS Is a rental where I'm training, cool stuff!
11:41 That's right, Alabama! Excellent video, as always. Looking forward to part 3. War Eagle from Auburn, AL.
Thanks Josh. Look forward to the rest of your flight. Keep flying safe

This one of my favorite videos. Looking forward to the rest of your adventure! Thank you for your work in making these videos available to us.
That was great and Sir you have the touch. You can definitely land a plane. That has to be just amazing the night and city lights. THen out from nowhere a runway appears. Love it. Thank you guys very much.
Thanks for stopping by the Williston Airport. I lived near there, by the golfcorse, while homecaring my father.
Flew right by Destin and Eglin, my old home back in 2015 when I was stationed there.
Really enjoying this series. I feel like I'm there with you. Thanks for sharing. The way you capture the scenery and the in cabin shots puts you right there with you. Cheers.
What an awesome adventure!!! Will be following your journey to the west coast! Fly safe

What an excellent series. Something about this video seems different. A whole new level......Will keep following to try and figure it out....Thanks

Lived in Panama City for 4 years working at Tyndall AFB. It is sad to see it in that state. Thanks for sharing.
I’m planning a trip to Texas in the Spring in my Cherokee 140. That should be fun.
This is some fantastic storytelling. I can't wait for part 3.
You flew right over my house in PCB FL.....keep the videos coming
The Blue Autopilot Button.. WE often refer it to the “Oh Sh**” Button... nice to have...
ATC at Pensacola Approach glad you see yall made it into JKA on a quiet day. it gets crazy there. Give a shout out on your way back. (Tyler)
Hey Tyler, do you still work at KPNA approach? Curious bc I started flying out of 2R4 and talk to you guys a lot

Great video, well put together as always. 87kts GS on the G5 was a bit painful to see, no matter how much we love to fly and be in the air.

Who’s Jason Schappert? Been to the local EAA Chapter flying01 several times. Got to try the Pyper Cafe though.
@@jhmcglynn Google him and you will find out.....
Josh, I like this video. Gave me some ideas. I wish you would do another trip up to Colorado and maybe Yellowstone/Teton and Glacier.

Great video! Why didn't you stop at HYI for the night; a case of trying to even out the distance? Thanks Josh!
Is the title picture from the Gulf Coast near SW Louisiana? It lools like my flying area just outside Lakefront Airport (KNEW).

Bryan Turner (JustPLaneSilly) bought his cirrus next door to Travoltas!
Very Cool!!
Josh, is there a map with all the legs? Can you go to Catalina Island please? That would be so awesome.
John Travoltas House is at the spruce creek fly in in central Florida
Spencer Morrison no, it's at Jumbolair
Nice rundown of the autopilot...question: where does all of that read out when you are dialing in altitude, heading, VS, etc?
Bluetooth interface to upload from Foreflight to the Garmin perhaps?
