Gorgeous guitar with divine sound! I know, I have #2 of 70! 😊
really? I know where #1 was selling. Where did you buy it?
@@davorsubotic2391Congratulations on your Guild!
Congratulations sir! 👍Do you plan on playing it much, or is it more of a collection piece? Not judging just wondering
I have been playing every single day - she is made to be played.. ;)
I don’t believe you. #1 would go to Bob Taylor or his buddy. #2 would go to Andy Powers or his Buddy. #3 would go to someone buddy, etc. #10 and on would go to good citizens like you … haha
It’s a beauty that sounds amazing! Nice vid. D-55 Anniversary or otherwise is a dream guitar for many and you can see why!
Happy new year Alamo team !
Tommy Smothers of the Smothers Brothers, who just passed away on December 26th, 2023 played a Guild D-55 with a sunburst top. It was seen weekly on Sunday night on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour from 1967 to 1969. Beautiful instrument!
Happy New Year guys! Always a pleasure to watch your guitar reviews!
Happy new year fellas. Gorgeous guitar, and I've always felt that people sleep on or forget about Guild as a high end competitor to Martin, Gibson, and Taylor.
Happy New Year to you guys as well. 🎸🎸🎸
Great choice!!! Way to go, gents! And Thank You! Sean
Beautiful on all counts.
Wow, never heard a guild acoustic sound like that before. Truly special.!
Guild makes amazing guitars!!!
I think the best ones, better than Martin, Taylor, Larrivee, etc
I always try to learn from Cooper’s playing so it was not optimal having the microphone blocking the fretboard. Loved the video - keep up the great videos.
Wow that sounds good
That guild own sound that I love
Happy New Year. Great sounding guitar. And one of 70, nation wide, says something about your standing in the industry. Congratulations. I do have an unrelated question for you. Do you benefit when we comment? I thought you did, so I try to comment on each video. If you don’t. I can sit back in the audience, headbob, smile, and nod my approval most times.
There's something about the Guild in Gibson that just kind of brings me back to the 60s and 70s, such a nice sounding guitar! Hey Cooper still waiting on the album...you make all guitars awesome this one is specifically sweet.
This was originally known as the TV Model played by Tom Smothers. Only available as a special order. Then in regular line in 1985 as the D-55.
Was his a sunburst model, or did he play all types?
@@goodknight37 Sunburst is what was seen on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. Google that show and you will see lots of pictures of Tommy and his Guild.
Great video and am trying to decide between the Guild you're reviewing, a Alvarez Yairi Masterworks DYM72 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar - Natural, or a Taylor 814 CE and I focus on John Denver (love the Yamaha LL 55 sound! and James Taylor, so love the vibrant clarity and bass guitars.
Beautiful D-55! I wish Guild would make the JF-30 again.
Thanks, Cooper and Chris. Is this like the one that John Denver played? Even at Redrock CO? How would this compare totally to an Eastman E20 D MR TC ( torrified Sitka top, Madagascar Rosewood back and sides dreadnought)? Of course, I wouldn't mind this one as it has that Guild sound (Eastman closer to Martin). Thank you for the nut, scale, and profile as it isn't on your web page. It helps me with those specs ESPECIALLY if the player says it's comfortable. Some I have to try before I buy.
The D55 is awesome
Awesome sound high and low.
Want one
Wow.
Chris, that beard has its own signature series Gibson (price is subject to change, while quantities last)
Really wanted one of these or the D50 but sanity told me to get the D40 Traditional instead.
Hey guys how do you know its number 50 of 70. There is one for sale in UK and they can't find any number of 1-70bon it. Cheers. Thinking of buying one of these guilds. Thanks Dean 🇬🇧
Beefy as heck 🔥
Beautiful guitar! I like you guys but I have not won the lottery yet...and I love my children. Also, I have a reasonably short wish list of my own.
The D-55 is my all time favorite dread. Partly because people sleep on it.
Im currently in the market for an old Guild.. wanna sell me one?
Yall send that one to me :)
$59.99 i'll take 2 xXx
Too bad ya can’t plug it in.
You can add the pickup of your choice as an option and plug away.
You also could wire it up for a light bulb, but I wouldn't recommend it.
@@johnwashburn3793 For $6000 + it would have to be factory installed and warranted 🤷🏼♂️
@jamesfyffe2610 Good point, but I, personally, would rather select my own set up
@@johnwashburn3793 I’m a big Guild fan, I am still searching for one I bought in high school back in the late 70s. Kinda like the girl that got away. 🙃
@jamesfyffe2610 I knew that girl. I haven't seen the guitar though.
Forced scarcity is lame
I agree.....It's like giving most people the middle finger!
It sounds beautiful but only 70 says tough luck for everyone else and that sucks!
It could have something to do with rarity of woods and gauging the size of a market for such an expensive guitar and balancing production capabilities as well. But yeah - artificial scarcity is the older trick in the book too! :-)
That beard is getting out of control.
😂😂
