We da best musick DJ Kahled is wayy more talented...cuz he knows Justin Beiber and Chance the Rapper...so much harder than complete mastery of you instrument -_-
I disagree. Fortress was their masterpiece. I’ve been a protest fan for going on 12 years. Nothing in my opinion will top Fortress. But then again, that’s just my opinion. Something about their old drummer man...so creative. This guy is amazing don’t get me wrong.
Hearing this allowed me hear to hear so much more of the song than I ever did with vocals. That's what I love about metal. There's always so much happening, so much to appreciate, When it all comes together, the result is incredible. Awesome band, Awesome drumming.
macaron3141592653 I know what you mean friend, beautiful with or without the vocals but I can really better appreciate the intrumentalism here, I wish they released instrumental versions of EVERY album!
Welcome to the PTH family Mike Ieradi, it is great to have such an amazing and talented drummer to be able to compliment PTH's style. I can't wait to hear your contributions to the band in their new album!!!
Absolutely me too. Nothing against Rody, I love his vocals, but there is so much work being put into the instrumentals that they deserve individualized attention as well.
+MyriadesusTV Seems to be working out for Polyphia! I never want them to add vocals. I like vocals in PtH but I have to agree - there are so many notes that I recognize here that I didn't here in the real recording.
Protest the Hero, In Living Colour, Minus the Bear, all of it. I love math music. Its one thing to just nod your head. Its a whole new immersion when you're forcing your brain to capture and sync w/ the music. Love it.
I've said it on every bandcamp videos and I'll say it whenever I see a video of you Mike, but you're a BEAST and by far my favorite drummer! So good to see you play behind the camera and live!
I had the chance to talk briefly with this guy after a PTH show. Not only an amazing drummer but seems to be a nice person too. So nice to see that such an astonishing drummer as Moe was replaced by another amazing drummer. Really look forward to see the album with your creativity put to use.
What I appreciate most is that Mike can play more complex grooves than this, but he plays what the song needs instead of overplaying the drums. Enjoyed the drum workshop he presented here in Johannesburg for that very reason also.
I'm not a drummer, nor do I own a drum set. I am however a musician (so I like to think I have good ears) and I listen to A LOT of drum covers. I know it's just youtube so you can't really judge sound quality very well, but this is the best sounding snare I've ever heard. Maybe it's the (Koa, is it?) shell, could be the heads he's using. Maybe it's the studio he's in, or just his sheer skill as a drummer. Or it could be.. all of the above. Love it, and protest the hero
lol... his skill enables him to make a certain sound... It's definitely the material of his drums, his heads, the room, the recorded audio, the professional mixing...
Thank you daddy I could only find teenagers doing footpeddle covers for a long time and you nailed it 🥰😜 I just wanted to hear the drums more clearly for like EVER. 👌
Michael Norman chris played what moe wrote. These arent exactly songs you can totally re rewrite new drum parts for. Chris, like portnoy did for a7x and like any other session or replacement drummer, played what was already laid down.
yo man! love your style. I met you in Calgary last winter at one of your first concerts. I remember seeing you walking through the crowd and no one even recognized you and i was just shaking with nerves when i introduced myself! i have a couple videos covering some songs, if you have time i'd love to hear what you think! thanks
Mike, are you using the double pedal in the middle section of the song (from 1:45)? Because if you can make that constant bass hits with one foot I may consider quitting drums :D anyway, great as always! See you guys next time you're in Italy ;)
A lot of people say this is less accurate but that's not really the case. Mike has made the drums fit his own vision. Why should he play it exactly like Chris did anyway? That's not really showing off your talent, that's just doing what's already been done, as if he was just covering the song.
I'm going to have to agree with many of the others here and request an instrumental version of Volition. Rody is great, but I would love an instrumental to appreciate other aspects of the songs.
Way to be Mikey! I actually like your version better, no disrespect to Adler, but you have a little bit more feel and groove. An awesome interpretation of the part!
I actually didn't even notice the first time I watched this but your right! the slight breakdown around the 0:46 mark i would have loved to see in this video. All in all though still awesome to see how you play it live! Can't wait to see them again.
Everybody in the band is at the top of their game. It's the best music.

Ritch Caraway Mike also didn’t write or record the drums on Volition, Pacific Myth and their new recorded he did
@@SeekTheLordJesusChrist7 I agree 100% the vocals on fortress were a blessing for their time aswell.
Comment still stands
Mike Ieradi and his magical dancing hi-hats.
Except he didnt make it, chris adler did
@@dustinpine3705 Chris Adler is laying on the floor just out of frame wiggling the hi hat stand?

I think you need a better pair of headphones. :P

True Dat
Or I'm too dumb for this song
macaron3141592653 I know what you mean friend, beautiful with or without the vocals but I can really better appreciate the intrumentalism here, I wish they released instrumental versions of EVERY album!
Arguably, this song deserved a better mix on the album.
chris adler did these drum beats
spectacular!
Guys, thank you for this song, really! I don't know how many times I listened this on repeat... with vocals and without this... My favourite song.
Would love to see Adler do this

I'd be willing to pay twice the price, or more, of the original Volition album for an instrumental version of it. I'm not joking...
Absolutely me too. Nothing against Rody, I love his vocals, but there is so much work being put into the instrumentals that they deserve individualized attention as well.
I love having both for fortress. I can listen to them one after the other. Like two different albums :P
As much as I love Rody's vocal work on the records and live, I can naught but second this... don't see why it would need to cost more though? :)
me too!

We need more of these! Love to watch and learn from the best, and that is the musicians themselves. Thanks for sharing
The coordination is amazing, I can barely wiggled my left hand whilst moving my mouse around...wait what
Still watch this every day!
I love the burts of fast picking here and their. It got me thinking of some "burst picking" riffs of my own recently.
please post more of these vids!! great work!

EPIC
i have so much respect for these kinds of drummers.. "making it look effortless"
Brilliant playing Mike - so looking forward to seeing you guys in Cape Town in May!
very cool, see you guys in May in SA
Awesome Mike!!! Just insane!! Cheers from Chile, and come back soon!!
absolutely amazing, hope to see more videos from you.
Absolutely astonishing playing ❤
I can't wait to hear this live in Oct. ❤❤❤
We need and want more of these!
Unreal control and skill. Beast of a song. ❤
great job Mike. Nice seeing Hadji's studio too!
Please! More videos like this Mike!
Awesome ghost notes on the snare from 2:10-2:35. I wish more drummers used ghost notes like that. It's a nice subtle touch.
The bridge is beautiful even without lyrics. never noticed all of the crazy guitar stuff before!
Oh yes!! I'm having an eargasm. Thanks for uploading this beatiful drumming.
def would not mind a guitar play through of a few songs !

I will really miss this....................💔
Instrumental Volition please!
protestthehero.bandcamp.com/album/volition-instrumental
That snare sounds so sick!
Mind blown you get better every year dude
When Moe left the band, I felt quite disappointed. However, my faith in PTH came back again! Amazing and impressive job!!!
Awesome 👍👍👍
Right to the back of the head! Great stuff guys, Keep it Real!!!!!

Fantastic playing, guy! Love your version of it. I wonder what the transcription looks like. Probably mind-blowing

This sounds really tight
Love it....now where can I get those instrumental tracks so I can become one with learning the bass !!
He's a beast!!!
I like this guy more and more the more of him I see. 10/10 dude, I'll always love Moe, but you're definitely winning me over.
Would like to hear some Pacific Myth drum covers
Amazing. To adapt to Chris Adlers playing style like that is impressive. Sign of a real pro

@@dustinpine3705 sick necro bump. The demos with the drum parts that have been released tell the story better than i could hahah
Instrumental please!! Its feel really different, the guitars sound so organic and stuffs. Really digging it :D
These chops though! Cool to see the drummer of a great band put in the spit light for once :)
Superb
Hot bro!!! Power drum sound!!!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏
So good. So damn good.
So freakin cool. Thanks for putting this up.

I am using double there! Just single for the "skate punk" beat. If I could do that, I would no longer be human.
Protest The Hero Yeah, I guess that's true. Thanks! I'd really like to (be able to) cover some of your stuff :D
Protest The Hero new album 2015?
Protest The Hero when will you come in Italy?
i dont know mike shinoda can play drums this good ,, haha lol.
One pedal for those doubles in the fast beat
You play drums very well, good job pal =)

the part from 2:11 - 2:35 is one of THE best PTH moments IMO.
The hi-hat was banging out harder than Mike was 0:34
Pretty good cover. Have you considered joining a band?
Serious business.
I have issues with how good this is
PLEASE oh PLEASE do one for Tilting Against Windmills
Mike is a great addition to the band. Obvious skills and he fucking murked on the new album.
I'm going to have to agree with many of the others here and request an instrumental version of Volition. Rody is great, but I would love an instrumental to appreciate other aspects of the songs.
what is that small, bronze, square-ish cymbal in the middle of his set called?
Slayin it with this one
INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sick!
Awesome job brother love the Evans Head.#EVANS4LIFE Awesome control and attack. What mics are you using? I need some mics on my kit....
measurement can be Bass drum 22x20?
thank you!
Nice play-along! hehehe! What is your splash set? Love that sound.
+Maykel Esser It will range in sizes between 8-10" for either, but it's a Zidjian hybrid splash, and a trashformer. Great combo!
+Michael Ieradi Oh yea! Sounds great! Its a K 8" & a Trashformer 10"?
Nice! Are those CAD m179s on the toms? They sound freakin' great, man.
Mike! What snare are you using? it sounds insane!! 😜😁
Nice job, Mike! What crash are you using on your right side?
good.
So fucking good. What in-ear monitors are you using?
Thanks man! I am using Sennheiser IE-80's.
You know when you speed a video up and it makes movements look really jerky? That's how ridiculously quick his hands are...
sounds delicious
Damn!!!
guitars = unreal.
Ron kicked ass on this tune too.
Don't get me wrong, Rodey Walker is an amazing vocalist, but if Volition came out as an instrumental i'd be all over that.
song name ?
protest the darude - sandstorm trial
im sorry
holy fuck
dat dancing hi hat
Fuck, PTH doesn't even need vocals to be a sick band. But don't get me wrong, Rody is the shit, period. Just sayin \m/
Fucking awesome as always
he needs to stabilize his HI-HAT!!! that shit happens to me at shows, but I guess even the pros deal with this shit eh? haha
holly sh*it. very nice :)
does the video look sped up to anyone else? maybe it's just too late here...
If the video was sped up and track wasn't sped up it wouldn't be matching...
no shit.
jackpaice I don't get it, do you also think the track was sped up? Have you not heard the song before?
***** That would be pretty difficult to pull off.
SHA8UTIE actually, that's pretty common nowadays. With the technology that we have now, it's not that hard :L
I just love Aaron Rodgers' work here.
