Many thanks for such a clear and detailed explanation, just bought it!
As Usual, another fine (and Clear) tutorial showcasing this new, powerful tool! Thanks, Dave.
Thanks, Dave. I'm anxious to give it a whirl!
Your welcome Terry.Next video comes out this coming Wednesday.
Also from Germany, thanks to Tony for this great tool and to you dear Dave for the excellent explanation. I've just made my first attempts with the Magic Mixer and I'm very impressed. Now I'm excitedly waiting for the next video, which will show the editing of color images.
Thanks Dave for a great introductory tutorial of Tony's Magic Mixer. The value is obvious and I am heading to the purchase page right now!
Thanks Dave. You and Tony are awesome. Thanks to Tony. Eleven years of using your panels has been so helpful and always fun.
Got it based on your video! What a great partnership between you and Tony.
Woo! My first Photoshop Elements instruction manual was written by you and I learned so much so fast; you are a great teacher. Anyway, been using TK Luminosity for a while (in Photoshop 2024) and just added this Magic Mixer plugin and your video is a perfect intro to it so the new learning curve doesn't seem so daunting. Thank you. Can't wait to try it our; will keep you posted.
great tuto. just purchased it.
Looking forward to new videos using this new panel
Thanks Dave
Thanks Tony another really excellent video and thanks Tony an awesome plugin
One word- Brilliant. I am going to have fun with this. Thank you Dave and Tony.
Thank You Dave. I like this much more than than Nik 6 Silver Efex. I didn't apply the discount because Tony deserves to get more $ for his great plugins.
His plugins and Sean Bagshaw's videos are more valuable than a camera upgrade.
This is awesome and really magical. Thanks a ton for sharing your knowledge.
Thanks Dave. It is always nice to have more options for processing B&W images.
Dave: Just bought the mixer .... was waiting for a video on it from you .... there you are on cue!! Thanks for your timely video.
Again, Tony did a great job! The Mixer will be my standard tool fpr BW-conversion. Looking forward to more tutorials of this topic, Dave
I look forward to TK Fridays. Thank you for years of fantastic content and tuitions
You're very welcome.
Using the NIK 6 Silver efex (I believe you are in charge). to help us choosing the B/W best tool will be great to get a compression between these topols.
Thank you Dave and Tony! Another great TK panel. I am getting it right now.
Fantastic tutorial, Dave. Thank you. I may never need to use NIK Silver Effects again with such a brilliant plug-in. Thanks also to Tony. Best wishes.
How is the channel mixer superior to simply using the black and white adjustment tool? Instead of brightening the greens to darken the magentas, in the B&W tool, you can control the luminosity of each of those 6 colors independently. You don't need to go to the mixer and then use a B&W layer in luminosity blend mode. You can simply just use the B&W in the normal blend mode and create the look you are after much more efficiently.
Great thing for working in Photoshop and as soon as I get my main computer back after the complaint, I will immediately purchase this plug-in. Well, let me add that, like the previous plugins, Tony is great and makes your work much faster and easier. Greetings from Poland, from the city of "Przemyśl Fortress".
Love it, cheers... now when do we get the colour one sir?... can't wait!.... If I say please does that help?
Hola Dave, great tutorial as always! Very interesting way to develop B&W pictures. Thanks for sharing
Ouahhhhhhh . Great .. Easy to use. Thank's Tony and Dave
Thanks Dave. I will be getting the panel today. Yourvideos are always helpful.
Looks like this could be fun to play with. I really like how did the building shot. That’s black and white to me.
quick off the mark as ever Dave! Really looking forward to the colour video.
The mixer tool is interesting. Really good job explaining all of it's features so comprehensively in 12 mins Dave. +1
Great! Easy to use. Now going to play with it.
Hello Dave, a good step in the right direction. Here a color picker would be interesting, together with a selection, for example to lighten the face a little without brightening other parts of the photo.
Maybe discuss it with Tony Kuyper.
If you have a selection active before you create a Magic Mixer layer then this is used to mask the layer when it is created. So if you select a face using select subject, lasso etc and then create the Magic Mixer layer then you can adjust just the face. As all the TK9 Multi-Mask masks, including colour mask, can be output as selections then you can apply Magic Mixer adjustments to specific tones, colours, saturation values etc, you may need to adjust levels before outputting such masks as selection to ensure required amount of adjustment comes through.
Thanks for the detailed overview. Purchasing the Magic Mixer is a no-brainer. Looking forward to your next video on the plug-in functionality regarding colour images. 😀
Awesomeness! Just purchased and look forward to further exploration and videos on the Magic Mixer.
Just got the magic mixture, and this will come handy... Thanks a lot Dave 😄
thank you, got this yesterday and was hoping you'd have a video on it today. Now I can go play, looking forward to the color lesson on this.
Buen trabajo Dave.....🤠👍
Thank you Dave for sharing. Very nice tutorial. Best regards from Switzerland.
Big thanks dave this video has helped so much. Its a great new plugin.
I've already bought it albeit so far I haven't used it. On the face of it this looks like an excellent pulling together of some of the tools I use for B&W conversions and as such could be $10 very well spent. The automatic luminance control by maintaining 100% is a clever idea.
Downloaded and ran it through some paces last evening. Impressive, but I still need to understand the concept behind PS's Channel Mixer. Your video today helps. Can't wait to see the 'color' use of Magic Mixer
Thanks!
Thanks for the Super Thanks Steve!
Thank you - Just bought it - Your video is very useful to start using this plu gin
Hi Dave! I have been waiting for the video since I purchased the magic mixer as soon as I got the email from Tony., and I've been playing with it. It's awesome! Now we have another powerful tool to play with. Tony Kuyper is a genius. I tried and played with color photos using the luminosity section box ticked to modify color photographs. It's simply amazing. I'll wait until you make another video explaining how to use Magic Mixer to modify colors in color photos. I'm excited to see that one.
I'm glad you are enjoying it!
Brilliant! Getting my copy right away 😊
Marvelous. Can't wait to try it!!!
Thank you!
Thanks for posting this informative tutorial Dave...I just downloaded this tool last night and look forward to creating some B&W images...Let TK know this is great stuff!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks Dave
Thank you Dave. I love B&W and just purchased and tried it out. Curious to try in on IR.
Thanks a lot.
Hi Dave. This looks good! I normally use Nik silver efx pro for my b&w conversions, but I'll buy this plugin as well to supplement my TK9. I'd be interested in your take on a comparison between the two plugins. Cheers
Hello sir
First of all an amazing video like always, second i have a question , because i know you use Infinite B&W and now MAGIC MIXER, can you tell us which one you prefer more as a useful plug ins ?? Thank you so much Sir 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
They're both nice. However, I'm really enjoying the Magic Mixer. It's so easy and fun to use, plus it has so many great features.
Hi Dave, I’m assuming that it also works in combination with TK9 luminosity masks?
It does.
Hi, Dave, thanks for this video. I like B&W photo's. Ik have a question, i use silver efex from the nik collection, is it worth it to buy this magic mixer and use it beside silver efex?
It gives you other options plus it can be used for color images. I will be demonstrating that in an upcoming video. I think it makes sense to have this along with Silver Efex.
@@thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly thank you very much Dave for the information.
Hi Dave! Thanks for the overview of this tool, was hoping to get a demo before purchasing. I had one question regarding the presets. Does it store the values for the toning button and Color Lum layers?
The presets only store the settings for the Channel Mixer layer (Channel mixer settings, Opacity, Fill, and Blend Mode). Toning and color lum are not stored in the preset as these layers are not always present. It is up to the user whether or not to add them.
@@TonyKuyper Thanks for the info Tony! I'm thinking once a good base look is put together using these three layers an Adjustment Preset can be created and used and masked appropriately (and tweaked a bit for another image) later on?
@@neil514 That's an option too.
Hi Dave. Thx a lot for sharing it with the community. Will it be part of the TK9 (or future TK10), or it will always be a separate purchase? True that 10USD is a bargain but there will be a DK discount code? Greetings from Portugal.
Already purchased, anyway 🙂
I believe it will remain a separate purchase.
What an excellent plugin, and an absolute bargain at $10.
this interesting but now i feel like a kid in the candy store with all these looks. where is the the focal point or subject, is there an area focal selection tool that i or anyone might think is important and then run some of these variables outside and in. Or is this just another make money interesting tool for the public.
I appreciate your enthusiasm and curiosity! With this tool, you’re like a kid in a candy store with all the possibilities it offers. The focal point or subject is often user-defined, allowing you to adjust based on your preferences. This tool does provide the unique feature of defining a starting point for black and white conversions.I encourage you to continue exploring this tool to uncover its full potential. Also, stay tuned for more Magic Mixer videos that I’ll be creating in the future. These videos may provide further insights and help you determine if this tool aligns with your needs.
As Magic Mixer is a way of adjusting standard Photoshop adjustment layers then all the methods of selecting and masking layers can be applied to Magic Mixer layers (or if using Colour Luminosity adjustment as well then it and Magic Mixer layer can be put in a group and a mask applied to group). So if you create two Magic Mixer layers and mask one for subject and one for background then you can use different settings on each layer. You can also clip a Magic Mixer layer to a layer that is already masked. For example, leaping ahead to colour options, you could clip a Magic Mixer layer to the Balance and Contrast layers that Dave normally sets up at the beginning of his full edits to give additional colour grading options on top of any you set up in the Colour Grading layers, might end up suggesting a colour grade that you had not thought of.
@@datstheone1 This sure opens up many possibilities. Thanks David.
It looks a lot like Infinite B&W, but much cheaper
