- We return to the Set Breakdown format to take a look at the first big release of the reboot - the first two trial decks V-TD01 Aichi Sendou & V-TD02 Toshiki Kai, featuring the Royal Paladin and Kagero clans respectively!

Just picked up my trial deck a little bit ago, felt even better than picking up the aichi legend deck
1 deck is enough, if you're not playing premium Kagero since both Nehalem & Dragonic Overlord are new staples in premium format and some of the 10k crits as well.
After testing out the two trial decks from my gaming group, I can say for most certainty these decks are well balanced against one another (Kai's just marginally better, but not in a way that Sendou can't handle) and honestly you can't go wrong with either one. Personally I'm just gonna wait til the next (Not the Q4) box set comes out where I shall play with my Spike Brothers!

Played for a solid 6 hours just trying out the new decks, so much fun, I basically spent 6 hours playing Kagero wrong lol

It sounds like these Kagero abilities that are constrained by the number of enemy rearguards would counter well against Nova Grappler or other Accel-type clans

DifferentFight I'm brand new to Vanguard (playing the game, that is; I watched some of the anime prior to the reboot) and I really appreciate these breakdowns. I really want to get into the weeds of Standard format and learn as much as I can so I can start competing in locals and meet other people who love Vanguard!

With the drop in quality and thickness, does the price change as well? I'm not sure how it works anywhere else but the prices are the same whether it's English or Japanese.
If the price remains the same yet the quality of the English cards is lower, I feel like it's best to stick to Japanese :T
It's probably gonna be the same :( YGO card quality in English is basically garbage and it's still way more expensive than OCG, so yeah.
How does the drive -1 effect in overlord play out? Brand new to the game.
Essentially - when you first attack with Dragonic Overlord, you will do your usual two drive checks. Then, if the attack hits any unit (whether it's a Vanguard or Rearguard), you'll be able to pay the cost (Counterblast 1, discard 2), to stand him and attack again. However, when he attacks for the second time, he will only be able to drive check once - the -1 basically indicates a -1 to the usual 2. Hope that makes sense!

Is it just me or do others also not like the new card text feel wise. I mean, it's amazing and makes understanding the abilities easier for new players and makes it not overwhelming but I miss the way it felt to read it. It doesn't have that flow anymore

Is there an online game for CF Vanguard 😓
For now there are unofficial ways such as Cardfight Area and Tabletop Simulator, but there will be a mobile version coming in December which will be official called Vanguard Zero!
