I live in Scotland and recently I’ve seen lots of freshly planted trees in my area ❤ it’s good to see it happening in other countries as well

As an Australian I am concerned about the Blue Gum plantings, they are a beautiful drought tolerant and deep rooted species but they are also a huge bushfire hazard so caution should be the guide there.

Thank you, John, for sharing your concerns regarding the Blue Gum plantings in relation to bushfire hazards. We appreciate your perspective on this.
Indeed, Blue Gum trees are well-known for their beauty and ability to withstand drought. However, it is crucial that we exercise caution when incorporating them.
Our local forestry service has been actively engaging with farmers, emphasizing the importance of taking appropriate precautions and implementing effective management strategies.
To manage the fire risk effectively, they recommend measures such as regular maintenance and pruning, maintaining buffer zones, and collaborating with local forestry officers - These guidelines aim to strike a balance between the aesthetic and ecological value of Blue Gum plantings while minimizing potential bushfire hazards.
While we must remain mindful of the fire risk, it is equally important to acknowledge the positive contribution of Blue Gum plantings to soil health and overall well-being- The extensive root system of these trees helps improve soil structure, preventing erosion and facilitating better water infiltration. As a result, soil fertility is enhanced, leading to healthier overall plant growth.
Thank you once again, John, for raising this significant concern. Your comment greatly enriches the ongoing conversation on responsible tree planting practices.

@@The-Conservation-Conversation Imported species are always a worry no matter where we live. The Sydney Blue Gum is one of the species that gave the The Blue Mountains their name, the eucalyptus oils from the leaves being released into the air enhanced the blue colour. In times of heat this oil acts as an accelerant.
