    I just got into the whole mechanical keyboard thing and lubing switches. I had one switch which had a noisy spring ping so I did it exactly the way you showed it in this video and gone is the annoying spring ping. Now I am going to do the other switches as well. Thank you Betty from @switch and click!

    Wait, I thought you had to lube the other parts of the switches? Would you get a better outcome if you lubed the other parts of the switches rather than just the housing and spring?

    This video helped me a lot. I don't have the special tool for opening so I easily opened them with a flathead screwdriver. I don't have lube so I used dielectric grease. I followed the steps in the video and the result is remarkable. Thanks.

      Seriously man this comment physically pained me to read. It will make a difference but dielectric grease is too think and doing it with a screwdriver takes forever. I cannot recommend enough getting like 5 grams krytox 205g0 and a switch opener for like 20 bucks combined. It will be so much better on every single level. Or just by prelubed switches like matcha lattes, vertex v1, or gateron pure berries or a ton of others. But for the love of god no dielectric grease please

      I thought it couldn’t be that hard to find out, but apparently nobody knows. The keys are RK’s own keys and they don’t seem to list any details about them. They’re probly just Cherry red clones with a dampener on the stem though.

      @@melodychest9020 yea some switches did ended up stopped working, but like the frequently used ones (wasd) works fine but like the ones that i barely touch will kinda like getting a little unresponsive, and some will just stopped working, idk if its because i fucked up the pcb while doing the tape mod or not, i didnt saw any physical damage on the pcb tho

    • @melodychest9020
      @melodychest9020 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@worstie9738 Oh, that is unfortunate. I am guessing that the excess lube got to the contact points of switches and acted like an insulator and stopping conductivity, so the signal is not getting through. Dipping is a terrible idea. Try it guys and you will see. If you want thocky sound, just manually lube the housing base (side of the spring post) and put all the springs in a plastic bag and mixed the lube in there and shake. Then buy a cerakey key caps + tape x3 your board. Guaranteed thocky 100%. Donut dipping gives you a terrible sound.
