This is a real problem. That is a large animal in a relatively small space. The gorilla naturally wants to move around. Even in a good zoo, the space to move through is relatively small. Ridicule? It is at least possible that the gorilla, on some level, detects and reacts to this as well.

I don't see what the big deal is. These animals are incredibly intelligent. They knew that she was a baby and needed to be handled with care. Two small children have fallen into a gorilla enclosure at two different zoos and two different gorillas protected and saved those children. One gorilla barricade the child in refusing to let any of the gorillas get within arms reach of the child until he was rescued. The other gently picked up the child and began rocking him as she was walking over to the door and then handed the child over.

    • @tinobemellow
      @tinobemellow ปีที่แล้ว +8

People often like to focus on prominently negative events because those events are those which are most often documented, and circulate the quickest. Isolated cases in which aggressive males or individuals target human children are an ever-present threat in these situations, as gorillas are known to assault their own offspring (or at least the offspring of other gorillas) at times. But those situations don't represent the norm. Would you consider it fair to consider figures like Hitler and other such aggressive humans as representative of the entire human species? I would say no. Remember instead that animals have as wide a capacity for aggressive deeds as humans have, and no species should be grouped under the category of "bad."
Except mosquitos. Those guys can suck it, as it were.

The ego it takes to think we are somehow special and exempt from natural law is mind boggling. Pull your head out of your archaic books for a second and take some time to do some research before spewing nonsense. Evolution has not been debunked, in fact every day the amount of evidence we have supporting evolution grows. What was created were the books and philosophies that people like you love to cling to.

The common ape is not an under-evolved human; its more like a cousin to the human.

Here's the truth about "Faux News," Einstein:
Fox News haters are just lazy, ill-informed patsies who get your opinions spoon-fed to you by radical, left-wing propaganda sites. Permit me to enlighten you about Fox News:
As reported by US News, The Wall Street Journal, and The Pew Research Center:
"In a stunning rejection of network news and nightly news anchors, cable news, driven by the Fox News Channel and mouthy Bill O'Reilly, is now the top most trusted source -- by a mile. In a new poll from Boston's Suffolk University, more than a quarter of the nation says Fox is tops when it comes to who they trust the most, and O'Reilly is the most believable.
"The key finding is that network news is dying. Some 28 percent of likely voters say that they trust Fox News the most, followed by CNN at 18 percent. After that, the trust in TV news nose dives. NBC was third, at 10 percent, MSNBC fourth at 7 percent, CBS and ABC tied at fifth with just 6 percent. The remaining 25% are divided up at less than 1% each among local media outlets and Internet news sources.""
      Viewer Demographics:
Fox News: 39% Republican, 33% Democratic, 22% Independent
      CNN: 18% Republican, 51% Democratic, 23% Independent
      MSNBC: 18% Republican, 45% Democratic, 27% Independent
In short, you should be outraged at these hate sites' subversive propaganda, but you and your ilk will simply bury your head back in the sand and go on conducting a slobbering love affair with those who tell you only what you want to hear, the real Truth be damned. If someone has to resort to lies and distortions to support their agenda, what does this say about its merit, as well as its advocates' morals and ethics? GROW UP!

Never forget what nature is, a competition of survival. In one shape or form, most species are out to kill each other unless they are in symbiosis.

***** You're absolutely correct no two animals act the same they each have their own temperaments and personalities !! They have good days and bad days just like people do and for people to learn to read animals they have to invest a lot of quality time to learn to read the animals body language !! People that keep animals caged and don't have any human interaction with the animals will never learn to interpret their body language and still wonder why their animal is still defensive. It's human error not that animals fault !!

This is a special and rare occurrence; for a gorilla family to accept a human family as an extension of their own.
However, we can never (and should never) forget that no animal can be trusted 100% to be safe.
Look at dogs, cats, snakes, pet hamsters etc. Cute lovely and loyal, but there's always that risk of them playfully snapping/clawing out of excitement.
What happens when a 300 pound gorilla gets too playful? A toddler potentially could be killed.

Yes some animals no way but I've seen many videos depicting the side of the animals that is soothing and gentle and very loving. Gorilla's are 97% our genetic equals which means they are 97% that close to what we are. And we are a bunch of crazy humans; think about some of the shit that some have done to other humans. We have to give animals credit, have faith. Animals are violent because of their needs food - sex - territory -etc... What are our reasons?

That's not an ordinary toddler, that's Julian Aspinall, I believe!
His father founded a private animal refuge near London, he had these great animals as his brothers & sisters, what a lucky lad!!!!

I had a pet squirrel one time, until he bit the hand that fed him, he died soon after that and 25 years later I still have a 2-inch scar on my thumb

Thank you for posting. Incredibly beautiful. What majestic animals. To be able to recall the bond she had with them at that point in time would be sooo cooool.

They have my approval. They are family units. They are well accepted and loved.
I venture that strangers are the ones who have ever been attacked.
Any one who is incensed by this, even 20+ yeays later.
    Has little understanding.
Like the ones that freak out over pit bulls as family pets.

As cute as it is, that wasn't the best idea the father had. It could have easily gone from cute to terrifying.

That is true, but he is a gorilla expert and I'm sure he wouldn't put his daughter in danger to promote his foundation.

Party Ghost We also share 99% of our DNA with mice. We also share DNA with a banana. DNA doesn't mean shit. Don't act all "scientific".

There was somewhat recently a case of a three year old kid falling into a gorilla enclosure. A female picked up his unconscious body and carried him gently to the service entrance so the keepers could take him out of the enclosure before any harm could be done.

David knows that animals are noble and grateful so many times much more than human, believe me, I know.

And i think she has reasons to be happy for the inspiring example of what her father has done for the gorillas.
