    When my wife cooked me something special I always made a big deal out of it. When she cooked something that was just really good tasting, I told her that she nailed it. She had a stroke a 3 years ago and now I do all the cooking (that's why I'm here) and nothing pleases me more than when I manage to cook something that gets an enthusiastic comment from her, so I know that you're speaking the truth about appreciating whoever it is that's cooking for you. Outside of home cooking, now a days, is mostly a bunch of very marginal food. Thanks for putting up this content

    My Mama used to cook like this...all through the late 60's, 70's, 80's, and even into the 90's. She is still alive, but much too old to cook now. I think she misses it as well. Boy...do I miss her cooking. Thankful though...that I had it for as long as I did. She was Southern Oklahoma raised, in the 50's, and raised her children in South Texas and South Louisiana. So she had many influences. I remember the 8 or so years we lived in South Louisiana, and she learned from an old Cajun neighbor, how to cook a chicken and sausage gumbo. Just so good. And because of Texas...she made many Mexican dishes. But it was her Oklahoma Midwestern dishes like her fried chicken and homemade biscuits, (things she was taught by her mother), that really stood out. I think women who cook...are a blessing from God. May the Lord bless you...and thank you for your time, making this video. You have a new subscriber. Two thumbs up...👍☀️👍

    Thanks so much for the wonderful cooking session and writing down the recipes. You are so right about giving gratitude to the cook and letting them know you appreciate them. It's also nice when there is more than 1 cook in the house, it takes the pressure off of one person.

      @JackiesSouthernSoul  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey PJ! I’m the only cook in this house. My Children and Grandchildren are always super excited and appreciate when I cook. My Husband on the other hand NEVER says thanks for cooking, it was good or anything unless I ask him how it was. Then his response is always, IT’S ALRIGHT! 🤦🏽‍♀️
      I always want to say man do you know how many people would love to be in your shoes right now?
      I guess some people just wasn’t raised to show appreciation.
      That’s why I like to cook on my videos and cook for those who appreciate and show it.

    • @pjmoneybags587

      @@JackiesSouthernSoul I have a similar situation. I think sometimes people do appreciate what you do for them but they either don't think it's important to let you know because they take what you do for granted or they are not good at expressions of gratitude. Whatever the reason I bet for any reason that you might stop cooking, they would realize how lucky they were. That's why I think It's so important to pat yourself on the back and know your own self worth and not to depend on others to validate it. Know that you are doing a great job!

Try it and you will see the difference. The flavor gets right through the bones. Also try washing thw chicken in a bowl with some vinegar and always wash it under hot water. The hot water takes away all that slime.

      Hey David. I called my pot cast iron but it’s cast aluminum in this video.
      I love my Grandma’s pot better than all the pots and pans in my kitchen put together. When she passed away in 2013 and the family went to her house to pick something to remember her by, cookware was the only thing I wanted. She had given me her punch bowl set and her old fashion ice cream churn years before she got sick. I’ll cherish them forever then pass them to my daughters. Luckily I have three pieces of her and I have three daughters. All three will be blessed from Grandma Sarah!
