You had been blocked?! This world is ridiculous... Just found your content on YT, really appreciate it. Gonna tell my therapist about it next time I see her 🤩👍🏻☺️ I got diagnosed with ASD last year, it's a relief, but still experience depressive episodes. The mother in this video (and Chester's voice) hit hard when I was a teenager as that was almost exactly my experience back then. I sort of figured out what was going on inside my mother, even then, but it hurt like hell anyway (maybe even more, as I felt sorry for her). She never changed. Meanwhile I went no contact with her. Long story (battle) behind and still fighting. Also still writing stuff since adolescence, but "only" lyrics, it helps, too... Great job, again, keep it up! Regards from Germany 🙂

This song really got me through a lot in my teenage years, along with their song Papercut. When everyone around you is emotionally invalidating you constantly, you have to alternate between numbness and anger at being mistreated because if you ever allow the sheer hurt that you feel to hit you, it will be too much for you to deal with. Numb was written about Chester's relationship with his dad, and as someone with an emotionally abusive father, it hit hard. Sometimes just the realization you're not the only one going through something is enough to keep you going when things are hard. It's not an exaggeration to say Linkin Park saved my life.

This explains the numbness I have been feeling for the last week. I try to explain to my family why this happens and I want them to watch this video because you explained it perfectly. Your videos are very therapeutic to me. Thanks for another great reaction

I dont usually comment on videos, but this one has been a major turing point in my recovery. I always related to this song on a viseral way. Now i understand. The points you raised were enlightening to say the least im gonna bring up this to my therapist next session and ask her to watch your video as it feels like you were talking ro me . Not in a psychosis kind of way more like you understood the song, my. Situation and how the song applied to me and then gave me advise and things to think about further and discuss. Hope this makes sense I've dyslexia and tend not to write alot online . Anyways keep up the great work .im off on a rabbit hole of your videos. Thank you my friend. G

This song was the one I connected with most when this came out as I was a teenager. It spoke a lot to my relationship with my Mum, the pressure, control and expections, not being who they thought I would be. Also the numbness from my depression and SH (which I feel I did for both the reasons you gave when you explained why, because I was numb so often, it was overwhelming when I did feel). I'm 35 now and I'm still majority in that fog, but I'm 15 years SH free now, but this song still hits me hard

As ambivalent as I am in general, I do know the up- and the down regulation. Being highly depersonalized, I never feel as if I belong somewhere. Cause therefore I'd need to feel myself first.

I love a lot of Linkin Park songs, but one that reasonanted the most with me is "Leave out all the rest". It feels like it speaks right out of my soul. I cry everytime I listen to it.
P.S. If you don't mind reacting to a song that is not in English (on YT, there are always subtitles), then "Alien" by Han Jisung from Stray Kids is a deep song with a message worth analysing.

Hybrid Theory (their first album) came out when I was 16 approaching 17. This was one of the darkest times of my life that I can remember. I have cPTSD and I don’t remember much from childhood and teen years. This album was constantly in my CD player… in my car, in my stereo. There’s a lot more but this was my way to expunge and scream out my feelings album. It was one of the only ways I felt I was allowed to scream my pain and frustration to the world. Negative emotions were not allowed in my home with my narcissistic father and his constant lectures and verbal abuse. And despite my cries and how loud I’d sing these songs, I continued to go unnoticed. Otherwise I lived in such numbness to protect myself… listening and singing along albums like this were the only time I felt anything. Sometimes I’m surprised I’ve lived as long as I have.
I miss Chester every day. He told people for years he was in pain. And we listened, but we also didn’t understand or act.

Please do keep on bringing your professional insights when appropriate and point to more detailed analysis on your other channel (link in show notes help as well). They are what makes your analysis so unique.
In terms of the new stuff, can’t wait for your analysis as a therapist on the lyrics of “Good Things Go!”.
In terms of Emily, just want to point out a few quick things.
She was born into Scientology, with both parents high rank members.
In a recent interview, she mentioned that she sees a therapist. Not something an active Scientologist would do.
She is very close to photographer Brian Bowen Smith and his wife Shea (apparently calling her“Momma Shea” and told Shea the news of here joining LP first). Brian is the photographer of Leah Remini’s book on leaving Scientology. If Emily is still in Scientology, she would be prohibited from forming a relationship with Brian and Shea.
She also performed for Talinda Bennington’s mental health charity as part of her own band Dead Sara.

As someone who has learned how to perfectly mask a panic attack to the point that people I'm with keep chatting with me because they don't realise I'm completely freaking out, this resonates so much. It started off as a way to get to a safe space before letting go and then it just became something I did so I wasn't a bother to anyone around me. Keeping myself small and out of the way, slowly numbing myself to my own emotions.
Linkin Park really helped me get through those issues by making is possible for me to belt out exactly how I was feeling on a dance floor. Letting all those emotions out in a safe and socially acceptable way. I never cut, but the muscular pain and relief I felt after an all-nighter at a rock/metal club was probably me processing it in the same way as you outlined above.
Also I love seeing you rock out to the tunes while you're breaking them down. It's good to enjoy yourself while giving out good advice.

For me personally the SH was a bit of both, feeling numb from external factors while still being overwhelmed by undiagnosed ADHD and while it helped in the short run it cause anxiety and angst, seeing the "result" which just piled onto the problems. Was a long time ago but the "results" are still there

I have been feeling like my way of being was only going down for the maybe when I was 12 or 13, but what really broke me was when I turned 18 and something was taken from me because of me and I was devastated because I knew in that moment that I can never do what I want, I only need to wait, be pacient, do what I don't want and everything will change but it only has got worse especially after that and it got even worse when I tried to regim what I lost but my body just couldn't take it anymore, I feel like I am getting emotional right now just saying this for no reason but to vent like I did many times in different comment sections. I am just tired, I am only living for my family so they don't suffer when I am gone and because of God, I already know I dissapointed him every single day for a very long time, maybe most of my life but I really feel like if something as atrocius as what happened when I was 18 happens again, I would not be able to take it, I might not kill myself but I would just stop operating because I am so tired of living even with it's good moments it's just not enough for a greedy, selfish human being who only ever cared about himself and only ever forced to go against his nature for family and others and because of my powerful consience given to me by God

If you are not aware the lead singer Chester Bennington's deep depression he speaks of in most of the songs sadly caught up with him in 2017
In 2003 linkin park relased an album called Metora, a song that was recorded for this album however never made it was called Lost
    th-cam.com/video/7NK_JOkuSVY/w-d-xo.html
This song finally got released in 2023 for the 20th aniversary of the album and was the one of the first songs they released after chesters death.
In 2024 Linkin park announced a new Female singer Emily Armstrong and have since done multiple live shows.
It hurts to hear the pain of chester being portrayed by someone else as you realise that it got too much for him.
One of the songs they do during this liveshow is an acoustic version of Lost.
    th-cam.com/video/aylx-JDoyqk/w-d-xo.html
Please react to both of these songs in the same video as they contrast so massively,
