Yes now thats the Prickly Pear/Tuna i remember from my childhood, the deep pink colour eith the little black seeds and the sweet flavour, funnily enough more like the colour of tuna fish this time😂. I hope i get to taste that again one day. Another great video from Mexico.
Hahaha so true Kellie Squire! For some reason whenever I think of tuna I always think of canned tuna 😝 so happy you enjoyed this one, thanks for watching and commenting 😄 Cheers, Sheena

Every dish in all of your Mexico series looks soo tasty, but what draws my attention the most this time is the tuna ice, I NEEE to taste this someday too🤣 I can't remember where, but you drank once a coffe with egg. Right after I tried to make it myself and it was sooo delicious, even if I think about it now that it's somehow like Tiramisu I would never combine these ingredients before I saw your video. Since then I'm craving for such combinations, tuna ice with that leche ice, on my bucketlist for sure😁 Thanks for showing me the world, and as always your positive vibes make me feel soo happy too. Have a wonderful weekend ^^//
Thanks so much Plejade! 😍 So, so happy you are enjoying the series. I hope you get to experience this Oaxacan Nieves flavour combination too- it is seriously unreal. I would return to Oaxaca just to eat it again. There’s something about that market too- it’s really special and you feel as though you’ve stepped back in time a bit. Hope you enjoy the rest of the series mate. Big love and have a brilliant weekend! Cheers, Sheena
Muchas gracias for watching mx mx- gosh Ocotlan is special. We love it there. I want that barbacoa right now! Hope you enjoy our other Mexico videos mate. Cheers, Sheena
This yellow mole empanada looks delicious, really. They're a little different from Peruvian empanadas, but they're also good, anyway. Greetings from Lima, Peru.
Greetings to you in Lima mate! It was a delicious empanada 🤤 different to what we usually know as empanadas but no less tasty. Thanks for watching and commenting on this one! Cheers, Sheena

We have just gone back to watch many of your earlier videos and we are amazed at the personal growth and the growth in the quality of your wonderful presentations. We still have not found the moment when the joyful "Mmmmm, Mmmmmm, Mmm-Mmm-Mmm began!

Chasing a Plate - Thomas & Sheena: They are not cringe worthy at all. Your creativity and unique style stiill the same..... but there was an odd occasion that well Thomas needed to pull the camera back a tad from Sheena's face because the poor love was going cross eyed looking into the lens!! You have definitely upgraded your camera gear and the sharp focus and shots are really high quality and great stuff. (Look l know nothing about media, filming and editing lets be serious) BUT l know it looks like a TV series cooking show with an entourage of camera crew which you definitely do not have! ! Totally el novio de tu mami! Everything was muy rico. We love Ocotlan so much- omg those nieves- out of this world! Thanks for watching and commenting, hope you enjoy the rest of our Mexico series! Cheers, Sheena 😀
I felt so dumb. I'm watching your video but looked away and I hear you saying you are about to eat tuna with ice cream on the bottom and I'm like yep, sounds good. Clearly I'm eating way too much Japanese food as I'm cool with a tuna sundae. Thinking the whole thing being ice cream, likely a better outcome. Loving this series!
Michael Latham: The first time Sheena tried it we all totally freaked out, had to pause and replay to make sure we heard it correctly, it was a vibrant green sorbet concoction they ate at an old style ice cream shop. This one is pink. Apparently the tuna or prickly pear fruit comes in that pink/red colour, green and orange. The pink and green are used predominantly for sweet treats. Haven't seen them try anything using the orange one yet. Delicious!!
I think it’s just testament to your open mind Michael 😄 so happy you are enjoying this series- it really is turning out to be a joy to film. Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers, Sheena
Oh the pleasure of living vicariously through your lens!!! The Nieves got me a "holey moley" fix.... l just knew it was incredible by that comment. Just wondering the Leche flavoured Nieves is it made with condensed milk (as in like dulce de leche), you mentioned its smokey taste and it wasn't as sweet as the Tuna flavour so lm assuming it wasnt made from condensed milk, but oh so creamy and delicious! What a fantastic flavour combination and served in a gorgeous glass! Thankyou for the effort of a 1hr bus ride. Certainly made for a great video.👍
So glad you enjoyed it Brilliant But Blue 😍 we love this market so it was a real pleasure to be able to share it on the channel. The Nieves at Ocotlán are out of this world- I wasn’t joking when I said I’ve been dreaming about them for 2 years! No condensed milk in the leche quemada- I believe they burn the sugar and that’s where the smoky flavour comes from 😄 thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers, Sheena

Hi Christian, so glad you enjoyed it mate! To be honest we don’t watch his videos as we don’t feel like we learn anything as he doesn’t give much information about the food or culture 😆 Thanks for watching this one! I desperately feel like leche quemada con tuna nieves now! Cheers, Sheena.
Hi Pascual Bacor, thanks for watching. Like I said in the video here in Oaxaca these are called empanadas unlike other parts of the world where empanadas are pastry filled pockets. They’re a specialty of the state. We film tlayudas at a street stall and at a fonda in our other videos so you’ll be able to see the difference once you watch those 😄 Oaxacan tlayudas contain things like unrefined pork lard and frijoles- different to this empanada. Cheers, Sheena
Thanks for watching this one Basingstoke Dave! It was brilliant getting back to this market and experiencing a more rural side of Oaxaca! Have a great week mate. Cheers, Sheena

Hi shirin meghji, thanks for watching and commenting. The raw meat is out all day and although we’ve never eaten the meat from that market we have at meat alley (see our other video) where it is out on display for the whole day much like the meat here. We’ve never had a problem 😄 With the barbacoa- the meat is kept out until finished really- again we often eat meat kept like this and haven’t had any issues. Go where the people are is generally a good rule of thumb 😄 Cheers, Sheena
Hi Nigel, thanks for watching and commenting! Ahhh we ate there whilst in the UK but didn’t have a very good experience- perhaps an off day? Hope you enjoyed this one! Cheers, Sheena
Really!!? That’s a good enough excuse to return one day to give it another go sans lime 😄😄😄 thanks for watching and commenting mate, hope you enjoyed this video. Cheers, Sheena
No, it’s not gözleme as traditionally ingredients like spinach and Turkish cheese are used as the fillings. Empanadas only Oaxaca are filled with squash blossoms, mole or cheese and this is not something you’ll find in Turkey.
@@ChasingaPlate Actually, there isn't a specific recipe for "Gözleme" you can put anything you like, similar to tacos. But what is the thing that makes it Gözleme is not the ingredients at all, it is the cooking method. You put the thin dough with "the ingredient in it" over a thin metal sheet which got fire under it and cook both sides of the dough till some eye shapes or dots appear on it. That's why we call it "Gözleme". Göz means eye in Turkish. When you cook, You see dots everywhere, which we describe as eyes. This is a 1000 years old traditional method to cook the dough this way over a thin metal sheet. But it is not Kurdish or something.
@@ChasingaPlate ıf masa flour is cheap they will use masa, ıf flour is cheap they will use flour. It is street food after all, but ok you got this point of view that see foods as ingredients and i see them as traditions and methods. Maybe it is another Lebanese minorities stuff too. I can't know that. But it is not Kurdish, I know that much.
Hi Rainy! How are ya going mate? Thanks for watching this one- I was so stoked to be able to return to this market- it’s a really special place. And that ice cream- I’d return just to eat it again!! Hope you’re having an awesome week! Cheers, Sheena
Thanks for watching. Nope these are empanadas. As we spoke about in the video they’re different in Oaxaca to most other places. This style of empanada is a Oaxacan specialty. Thanks. Thomas 😀
Hi Manolo Bikers, thanks for watching and commenting. These are Oaxacan empanadas- a large tortilla with a filling, they often contain mole Amarillo 😄 You can obviously also find quesadillas around town they’re generally a tiny bit smaller. These empanadas are unique to Oaxaca! Cheers, Sheena

It’s so interesting isn’t it? And it’s only in Oaxaca that empanadas are like this. So regional. Thanks for watching and commenting guys, hope you enjoyed this one. Cheers, Sheena
empanadas and barbacoa look to die for!! so jealous >.
They were so delicious! That barbacoa was melt in the mouth 🤤 thanks for watching and commenting- hope you enjoyed this video! Cheers, Sheena
I’m enjoying a tamale from my mother in law as I watch this, yum!!
Lucky thing! 😍🤤 Tamales are such comfort food 🙌 thanks for watching and commenting mate, hope you enjoyed this one! Cheers, Sheena
It is not tamale, it is tamal
Thanks for sharing! I'm hungry, let's eat!
👊👊👊👊 hope you enjoyed this video jerry cratsenberg! It was really fun to film- we love this market so much! Thanks for watching and commenting mate. Cheers, Sheena
I think i almost could smell the barbacua😋👍
😍😄😍😄 it was melt in your mouth! Thanks for watching and commenting on this one Michael- hope you enjoyed it! Cheers, Sheena
Smells yummy!
You have to try the rose petals nieve and the green mole and the black beans tamales is something different and delicious 🤤😋
Thanks so much for the amazing recommendations nayeli altamriano! I love rose flavoured things and we will definitely have to track down some green mole and black beans tamales. Hope you enjoyed this video and like the rest of our Mexico series! Cheers, Sheena
Gracia's guys...for this video
De nada mate! Hope you enjoyed it 😍 we loved filming at Ocotlán- it’s a really special place. Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers, Sheena
Everything look delicioso 😚
Totally
el novio de tu mami!
So much colour in Mexico!
😍😍😍😍 totally ozza26! It’s so vibrant- it really is an inspiring place to travel around! Thanks for watching and commenting, hope you enjoyed this one! Cheers, Sheena
My México is delicious
It sure is adrian lug, I suspect we are going to roll onto the plane 😂 thanks for watching and commenting, hope you enjoy the rest of our Mexico series! Cheers, Sheena
Mouthwatering!
Absolutely was Michael- I'd return to Ocotlan just for the nieves- so, so good. Thanks for watching and commenting mate, hope your week is going splendidly! Cheers, Sheena
So glad you have Safety Wing to secure/insure you in your travels. Its definitely worth the cost and I will definitely invest when traveling.
Hi SuzyGrowsMyBiz, thanks for watching and commenting 😍 absolutely worth the cost and peace of mind! Hope you enjoyed this one 😘 Cheers, Sheena
Great video! By any chance, are either of you fans of The Food Ranger on TH-cam?
Hi Christian, so glad you enjoyed it mate! To be honest we don’t watch his videos as we don’t feel like we learn anything as he doesn’t give much information about the food or culture 😆 Thanks for watching this one! I desperately feel like leche quemada con tuna nieves now! Cheers, Sheena.
@@ChasingaPlate daaamn 😂 it’s true tho 🤷🏽♂️
I’m all about speaking the truth 🤷🏻♀️😂
Those big "empanadas" are actually called tlayudas. Empanadas are traditionally baked or deep fried in a butter pastry. Masa is used for tlayuda.
Cheers, Sheena
nice one guys
Thanks for watching this one Basingstoke Dave! It was brilliant getting back to this market and experiencing a more rural side of Oaxaca! Have a great week mate. Cheers, Sheena
A lot of those people do not speak spanish they speak indian tongues
to most mexicans it is almost as amazing as it is to foreighners.
Yea so many local dialects!
the best thing. everithing is organic! the meat is daily fresh too.
It’s neat isn’t it? We love visiting markets here- they’re so full of life and energy. Thanks for watching and commenting dorianbelen. Hope you enjoyed this video. Cheers, Sheena
one day you should go to Jalisco Mexico!
Don’t worry glenda ramirez- Jalisco is on the itinerary 😄 can’t wait to get there soon 🙌 our list of things to eat is a mile long! Thanks for watching and commenting on this one- hope you enjoyed it! Cheers, Sheena

Thanks! Kia Ora right back at you and your colleague. No rude words there. He can have double pay next week instead 😀 Thanks very much for watching this one. Cheers, Thomas 😀
Amazing video about street food as always. No one know the meaning of real street food as you guys. I want you to visit Lahore and show the real street food what other can't
😍😍😍 thanks for your lovely message mate! We would love to get to Lahore one day soon! Pakistan looks beautiful 😄 thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Sheena
Hello how long does the meat sit out and how safe is it to eat?
Hi shirin meghji, thanks for watching and commenting. The raw meat is out all day and although we’ve never eaten the meat from that market we have at meat alley (see our other video) where it is out on display for the whole day much like the meat here. We’ve never had a problem 😄 With the barbacoa- the meat is kept out until finished really- again we often eat meat kept like this and haven’t had any issues. Go where the people are is generally a good rule of thumb 😄 Cheers, Sheena
Thanks@@ChasingaPlate
💚💜🧡👍
So glad you enjoyed it mate! Thanks for watching and commenting 😄 Cheers, Sheena
You may what to hash tag 'Wahaca' as it's a very good (imo) restaurant chain in the UK.
Hi Nigel, thanks for watching and commenting! Ahhh we ate there whilst in the UK but didn’t have a very good experience- perhaps an off day? Hope you enjoyed this one! Cheers, Sheena
👍👍👍
Thanks for watching this one mate! We love this market- it was a joy to be able to share it with you guys! Cheers, Sheena

4:18 noo, it is not eaten with lime, it kills the flavor of yellow mole
Really!!? That’s a good enough excuse to return one day to give it another go sans lime 😄😄😄 thanks for watching and commenting mate, hope you enjoyed this video. Cheers, Sheena
It is "GÖZLEME" another Turkish food, some kind of " börek" in a way.
That’s neat! Although it’s made from flour whereas Oaxacan empanadas are made from masa.
But it is not Kurdish, I know that much.
why isn't everybody talking about Sheena's coin purse ???? 6:50
😆😆😆😆 you might have noticed I’m slightly obsessed with polka dots! Thanks for watching Alina Petrea, hope you enjoyed this one mate. Cheers, Sheena
:)) there was a movie about a polka dot dress... Because i said so - with Mandy Moore and Diane Keaton. have you seen it ?
Looking it up now!! 😝
Liver, kidneys, a bit of stomach. All good.
Tasty as! Thanks for watching! Cheers, Sheena

No son empanadas son quesadillas omg 😮
Thanks for watching. Nope these are empanadas. As we spoke about in the video they’re different in Oaxaca to most other places. This style of empanada is a Oaxacan specialty. Thanks. Thomas 😀
Aquí en Oaxaca se llaman empanadas y esa, es una empanada de amarillo
En Oaxaca son empanadas, las quesadillas son diferentes
Barbacoa is baby goat
Thanks for watching. Love that barbacoa. So tasty. Cheers, Thomas 😀
Ha str... Buda bildiğin "GÖZLEME" lan...
It is not empanada, it is quesadilla, the empanada is made of bread, the quesadilla is made of corn tortilla or arina. Regards
Attention!!! No toda la comida tiene que llevar limon!!!!! 🤦🏻♂️
Nope it doesn't. Thanks for watching. Thomas 😀
No es empanada, es quesadilla, la empanada está echa de pan, la quesadilla es de tortilla de maiz o de arina. Saludos

Hi NAZ MEDI, hope you’re well mate. Thanks for watching and commenting on this one- it was a blast to film! Cheers, Sheena
Stop calling them guys. It's a man and a woman. Be respectful.
Our videos are informal- they’re just us travelling, eating and experiencing the world. I’m using the word guys here informally which encompasses both men and women- no disrespect is intended. Cheers, Sheena
Badly presented
Thanks for the constructive feedback. 🙄 Thomas
