If you will try someday, do it with open mind. It's a gusto adquirido, something that gets better through time.
Be sure of eating bread instantly so you can taste it crunchy.

i retired to oaxaca in 2015 from Oregon. this video catchs some of the culinaey treats, but these are not street foods. they are in sit downvrestaurants. further, unless you are familiar with a restaurant, we always test the salsa for heat before adding it.

As with any travel destination, you've got to be aware of your surroundings, but no different than anywhere else we've travelled to before. We would recommend it as a travel destination for sure!

You REALLY need to learn how to pronounce tlayuda! It is not "Tilly-uda". It is "tlay (rhymes with "fly" kind of) yuda" - pretty much like the Spanish word "ayuda". But thanks for the images of Oaxacan food - I was last there about 40 years ago. I made some Oxacan-style tostados for my dinner here in the Philippines tonight, and was curious how they made the huge tlayudas. When I was there 40 years ago, "tlayuda" referred to the very large tortillas. When cooked like in the video it was called a "tostado tlayuda", although many did just say tlayuda for short. But now it seems the word has come to mean the dish, not just the tortilla. Interesting how language evolves.

I really liked your video. You got right into the traditional Oaxacan Food, which is what I want to experience, BUT PLEASE, learn some Spanish or ask the locals. I am 100% certain none of the food you pronounced is pronounced that way. Indigeious words are not pronouced that way!
